Red Sox Being Patient With Triston Casas
6 months agoBoston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas (rib cage), who suffered torn cartilage in his left rib cage on April 20, has made significant progress but hasn't been cleared to swing a bat. Casas threw and took ground balls on Saturday, though, according to manager Alex Cora. "We have to be patient. Everything is trending in the right direction. I really don't know when he's going to start swinging, but just keep doing the things in the gym and taking ground balls," Cora said. "Hopefully that step is soon, but that's going to take a while. It's not easy [to know] because it's just about feel. We'll see." The 24-year-old said last week that he hoped to resume swinging last week, but that hasn't happened yet. The lefty-hitting first baseman is hoping to return around July 1, but that could be pushed back a bit. Either way, his power upside makes him a worthy stash in all fantasy leagues.
