Ravens Release Trenton Cannon
3 years agoThe Baltimore Ravens released running back Trenton Cannon on Tuesday, which means that Ty'Son Williams and Latavius Murray are currently the only running backs on the active roster. The Ravens also placed offensive lineman Tyre Phillips (knee) on Injured Reserve after he was carted off the field in Monday night's overtime loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Cannon had just two carries for five yards against the Raiders while working behind Williams and Murray. With veterans Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman lurking on the practice squad, the Ravens decided they didn't need Cannon. Williams was used heavily in the first half on Monday, but Murray was the preferred back of choice by Baltimore to close the game out. It looks like both backs will continue to be involved, and Bell and/or Freeman will likely join the active roster once they are comfortable with the offense.
