Ravens Hope To Use Lamar Jackson Less In Rushing Game
2 years agoBaltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken was asked if quarterback Lamar Jackson could see his rushing usage come down in 2023. "The more talented you are around your quarterback, the less he has to take on that burden," Monken said. "As Lamar gets older, you want to take some of that (rushing) off the player, but he has a unique trait. You can't take that completely out of his toolbox because that's a huge weapon for him and for us." That said, Jackson will still likely see plenty of designed runs, but the team hopes its weapons including Mark Andrews, Rashod Bateman, Odell Beckham Jr., and Zay Flowers will raise the passing ceiling of the offense and preserve Jackson's legs as he enters his sixth NFL season.
