Rangers Select Jack Leiter Second Overall In Amateur Draft
3 years agoThe Texas Rangers selected Vanderbilt college right-hander Jack Leiter with the second overall selection in the 2021 amateur draft. The son of Al Leiter was the consensus top college pitcher available. The young hurler has solid stuff and a mid-90s fastball but he's known for having an above-average game plan and plus command/control for his age. After he signs, Leiter will likely be the second-best prospect in the system behind third baseman Josh Jung. He'll slot in as the top pitcher in the system just ahead of former first rounder Cole Winn. Leiter struck out 179 batters with a 2.13 ERA in 110 innings this season. Rotoballer had Leiter ranked as the second-best talent available in the draft.
