Rangers Could Be Sellers At The Trade Deadline
4 months agoThe Texas Rangers could be sellers at this year's trade deadline despite winning the World Series last fall. The Rangers currently sit at 42-48, even after sweeping the Tampa Bay Rays and winning five of their last seven games, and remain 7.5 games back in the race for the third American League wild card. Their playoff odds are hovering around 10%. If Texas decides to sell, they wouldn't necessarily limit their conversations to mostly players on expiring contracts, according to sources briefed on their thinking. Their players on expiring contracts include starting pitchers Michael Lorenzen and Andrew Heaney, swingman Jose Urena and relievers David Roberts and Kirby Yates. Nathan Eovaldi and Max Scherzer could also be trade options, although it's unknown if Scherzer would waive his no-trade clause for the third time in four years. Texas could also listen on Nathaniel Lowe, Leody Taveras, Adolis Garcia and Jon Gray.
