Randall Cobb Will Have Limited Role
Randall Cobb seems to understand that his role will be limited this year. "I know this isn't the prime of my career," Cobb said. "But I still have a lot left in the tank. If you watch what I've done the last few years, I'm really efficient." He brings valuable veteran leadership and depth as a slot receiver and kick returner, and he's also one of quarterback Aaron Rodgers' best friends. The 32-year-old finished 2022 with 34 receptions, 417 yards and one touchdown in 13 games (three starts). In New York, he'll likely be the No. 5 wideout behind Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman Jr. and Corey Davis, so fantasy managers will want to leave Cobb to the waiver wire in the vast majority of leagues.

Allen Lazard Out Sick Thursday, Randall Cobb Active
Allen Lazard (illness) is inactive for the Week 17 game on Thursday night against the Cleveland Browns after coming into the game listed as questionable to play. As a result of Lazard being too ill to play, veteran Randall Cobb will be active for just the 10th time this season. He'll still be behind Garrett Wilson, Jason Brownlee and Xavier Gipson in the receiving pecking order and probably won't be on the field all that much on offense. The 33-year-old has only four catches on 16 targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in his first year in New York. Lazard has been even more of a bust for the Jets in his first year in 2023, catching 23 of his 49 targets for 311 yards and a touchdown in 14 games. He was expected to be a solid No. 2 next to Wilson, but it hasn't worked out that way.

Randall Cobb Back To Being A Healthy Scratch
Randall Cobb was active in the Week 12 loss to the Miami Dolphins last Friday for the first time since Week 6, but he played only seven offensive snaps and wasn't targeted at all. Cobb was only active last week because the Jets benched the struggling Allen Lazard. Lazard is returning to action in Week 13 as the team takes on the visiting Atlanta Falcons, so Cobb will go back to being a healthy scratch yet again. The 33-year-old was mainly brought in over the offseason because of his chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1 and is unlikely to return in 2023 despite an incredible recovery to this point. Cobb has only three catches in seven games for 20 yards for the Jets.

Randall Cobb Active In Week 12
Randall Cobb is active for the Week 12 game on Friday against the Miami Dolphins. Cobb is active for the first time since Week 6 because the Jets decided to make struggling wideout Allen Lazard a healthy scratch for this one. Cobb has just three catches on 12 targets for 20 yards and no touchdowns in six games played for the Jets this year, but his role could be expanded on Friday with Lazard riding the pine. Garrett Wilson should remain the top targeted receiver in New York, with rookie Xavier Gipson also seeing an expanded role with Lazard out of the picture. However, there isn't going to be a lot of fantasy upside for any Jets receiver with quarterback Tim Boyle under center in his first start of the season.

Allen Lazard Active, Randall Cobb Out On Monday Night
Allen Lazard (knee) is officially active for Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers. Meanwhile, veteran receiver Randall Cobb is a healthy scratch. Lazard popped up on the Week 9 injury report on Saturday and was limited in practice, but it was more of a precaution than anything. The 27-year-old will be on the field as New York's No. 2 wideout behind Garrett Wilson in an excellent matchup against the Chargers defense. Lazard's fantasy stock took a nosedive when quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles in the season opener. With Zach Wilson running the offense through seven games, Lazard has only 17 receptions for 255 yards and one touchdown on 29 targets.
