Rams Could Have Three-Headed Monster In Backfield
5 years agoLos Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that rookie running back Cam Akers, selected with the No. 52 overall pick in the second round, "adds great value" to a rotation that already includes second-year pro Darrell Henderson Jr. and sixth-year pro Malcolm Brown. "We feel we've got three really good backs," McVay said. "What does that mean in terms of the distribution of carries? I think that's to be determined based on how things play themselves out." Akers averaged 958 rushing yards in three seasons at Florida and also caught 69 passes for 486 yards and seven touchdowns in three years. Brown should start the year as the favorite for touches in this Todd Gurley-less backfield, but Akers could easily become the top dog by season's end, making him a great redraft and dynasty investment.
