Raisel Iglesias Not Happy With Usage
6 years agoCincinnati Reds closer Raisel Iglesias, who has a career-worst 4.86 ERA and has already lost five games, disagrees with the way the team has been using him in some games this year. Iglesias is trying to adapt to the lack of control on his slider, and he entered a tie game in the ninth inning on Sunday and allowed a double and a two-run homer. "You can see the other closers, they don’t pitch in tie games," Iglesias told The Enquirer. "I’m the only one who comes in tie games and I’ve given up homers and I’m losing some games. I feel really bad." He's come into a tie game six times this year and has a 6.14 ERA in non-save situations compared to a 3.86 ERA in save situations. Manager David Bell still believes in Iglesias and will continue to use him in save situations, but it'll be interesting to see if the Reds continue to use him in a non-traditional way moving forward. Despite his struggles, Iglesias needs to remain owned everywhere.
