Raisel Iglesias Coughs Up Two-Run Lead, Takes Loss
4 years agoCincinnati Reds closer Raisel Iglesias failed to convert a save opportunity in a 5-4 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. Iglesias entered in the ninth inning to a 4-2 lead but allowed three runs to score, resulting in his first blown save of the 2020 season. To add insult to injury, the tying run crossed the plate thanks to a bases-loaded balk by Iglesias. Overall, the veteran closer has a 1-2 record, 7.71 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, two saves, and 13 strikeouts in seven innings of work on the year. Despite the blown save, Iglesias possesses elite strikeout upside, he just needs the team to hand him save chances more frequently going forward.
