Raimel Tapia May See Some Starts
6 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Raimel Tapia found himself in the catbird seat this season. After years of being held down in the minors due to the team signing aging veterans to ill-advised contracts, Tapia was officially named the team's fourth outfielder this season. While most fourth outfielders don't see much time, Tapia was backing up an outfield that included David Dahl, the highly touted but oft-injured Rockies youngster. Sure enough, Dahl made it just 10 games before having to leave due to an injury. Tapia replaced him, and depending on the severity of Dahl's injury, Tapia could be in line for a host of starts. The light-hitting outfielder is mostly a batting average play (he hit .327 over his three years at Triple-A), but he brings a bit of speed and a little power to the table. He could work as a temporary fix in deep leagues if he can get on the field regularly.
