Gardner Minshew II Throws For Touchdown In Loss
4 months agoThe "too close to call" quarterback competition in Las Vegas looked slightly one-sided on Saturday. Although 2023 fourth-round draft pick Aiden O'Connell started the day for the Raiders, Gardner Minshew II stole the show. Playing for his fourth team in five years, Minshew took the field in the second quarter and marched the Raiders 67 yards for the game's first touchdown, a beautiful 20-yard pass to D.J. Turner. Minshew played three full drives for Las Vegas, finishing the game 6-of-12 passing for 117 yards, one touchdown, no picks, and a 112.2 rating. After the game, Raiders HC Antonio Pierce, addressed the media and didn't provide much clarity on the QB battle, stating "Thought they both did a good job of making those chunk plays that we really want to emphasize. Good job taking care of the football. Pretty good operation here in the two-minute drill as well. Good first half." per ESPN's Paul Gutierrez. With the Raiders getting ready to welcome the Dallas Cowboys next Saturday, we hope to get a little more insight on who will be under center for Week 1.
