5 months agoThe Boston Red Sox informed Major League Baseball on Tuesday that third baseman Rafael Devers (shoulder) isn't going to the All-Star Game next week so that he can rest his nagging left shoulder. Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg will replace Devers on the American League All-Star roster. Devers' left shoulder hasn't bothered him too much so far in July, as he's gone 9-for-24 (.375) with three home runs, a triple, 10 RBI, five walks, a stolen base and seven runs scored in six games, including homering three times in the last two games in the Bronx over the weekend against the division-rival New York Yankees. The 27-year-old did miss a few games in April due to his shoulder and he has started every game since June 11, so Boston wants to give him some extra rest next week. The Dominican slugger entered Tuesday's contest with a strong .293/.378/.593 slash line with a .971 OPS, 21 homers and 55 RBI in 77 games.
