Proposed Deal Involving Eric Hosmer Hits A Snag
3 years agoThe proposed deal between the San Diego Padres and New York Mets that would have sent first baseman Eric Hosmer, starting pitcher Chris Paddack, reliever Emilio Pagan and cash to the Mets for first baseman/outfielder Dominic Smith has hit a snag and may be off entirely. The Mets are looking for more pitching with ace Jacob deGrom (shoulder) set to miss significant time to open up the season. Hosmer and Paddack have been disappointments for the Friars, but the Mets have long had an eye on Paddack, and the right-hander could bounce back with a change of scenery. Smith, who hasn't had much of a role in Queens, would likely become the Padres primary left fielder if the trade went down. Stay tuned.
