Pierre Strong Jr. Capitalizes On Expanded Opportunity
2 years agoNew England Patriots running back Pierre Strong Jr. rushed five times for 70 yards and a touchdown and caught both targets for 20 yards in Monday's 27-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) injured his ankle in the first half but later returned, only to aggravate the injury during the third quarter before being ruled out for the rest of the game. Strong and Kevin split the backfield while Stevenson was sidelined. Strong averaged 14.0 yards per carry, with most of his damage coming from a 44-yard run. The 24-year-old has a three-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the Patriots up 27-13. Depending on Stevenson's health, Strong could have an expanded role in a plus matchup against the Raiders in Week 15.
