New York Islanders left wing Pierre Engvall has been placed on waivers just one year into a seven-year, $21 million contract. Engvall was handed the contract following a strong end-of-the-season stretch he had with the Islanders in 2022-23. After he was acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Engvall averaged 0.5 points per game with the team in 18 appearances. However, Engvall's production dropped massively during his first full season with the Islanders. He finished last term with 28 points (10 goals, 18 assists) in 74 games. The Swedish forward has a 16-team no-trade list attached to his contract, which has made it difficult for the Islanders to move him.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
