Pierce Johnson Earns Fourth Save Of Season Tuesday
2 years agoColorado Rockies relief pitcher Pierce Johnson picked up his fourth save of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Brewers. Johnson came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by one. He got the first out on a lineout, allowed a ground-rule double, got the second out on a groundout which advanced the tying run to third, and ended the game with a strikeout. The 31-year-old has done a decent job filling in as interim closer, converting all of his save opportunities with a 3.97 ERA, 13.50 K/9 rate, and 5.56 BB/9 rate. Daniel Bard is now back with the team and will likely be eased back into the closer's role, but it appears that Johnson is still the go-to should the Rockies find themselves in a save situation. The ERA and walks aren't great, but he is still worth a roster spot in deeper roto leagues at this time.
