Phillies Have Shown Interest In Alex Colome
4 years agoThe Philadelphia Phillies have expressed interest in free-agent relief pitcher Alex Colome, but the Phillies would likely need his price to drop in order to have a shot. It didn't help when Liam Hendriks agreed to a $54 million multi-year deal with the White Sox on Monday. Colome will not return to Chicago after the team signed Hendriks to be their closer this week. The 32-year-old right-hander was solid in his two seasons with the White Sox, posting a 2.27 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 42 saves in 83 1/3 innings over 83 relief appearances. It's unclear if he'd be the primary ninth-inning arm if he landed in Philadelphia, though, as the Phillies also have Hector Neris at the back end of their shaky bullpen. The Phillies main concern is adding reliable and healthy arms to a bullpen that has really struggled in recent seasons.
