Philip Rivers Quietly Guides Chargers To Victory
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers completed 75% of his passes for 294 yards on Sunday as the team outclassed the Green Bay Packers in all facets of the game. That said, Rivers was held without a single passing touchdown or interception, instead watching all the glory get spread out to his running backs, his defense, and even his kicker. It wasn't a flashy performance. Instead, Rivers focused on playing it safe, taking no risks, and hitting short passes that allowed his playmakers to break free, such as when Mike Williams took a 3-yard pass for 53 more yards down the sideline. Gunslinging Rivers is better for fantasy, but game managing Rivers just beat a heavy favorite.
