Peter Alonso To Start On Opening Day
New York Mets first base prospect Peter Alonso will be in the starting lineup on Opening Day on Thursday against Nationals ace Max Scherzer, according to a source. Alonso gets a very tough task right off the bat, so those playing DFS will likely want to avoid him, but the 24-year-old slugger could be a big-time fantasy contributor in his rookie season for his power. Alonso hit .285/.395/.579 with 36 home runs and 119 RBI in 132 games with Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas last season. His inclusion in the lineup likely means that Dominic Smith will start on the bench.
