Peter Alonso To Start On Opening Day
6 years agoNew York Mets first base prospect Peter Alonso will be in the starting lineup on Opening Day on Thursday against Nationals ace Max Scherzer, according to a source. Alonso gets a very tough task right off the bat, so those playing DFS will likely want to avoid him, but the 24-year-old slugger could be a big-time fantasy contributor in his rookie season for his power. Alonso hit .285/.395/.579 with 36 home runs and 119 RBI in 132 games with Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas last season. His inclusion in the lineup likely means that Dominic Smith will start on the bench.
