Pete Fairbanks Notches 15th Save Tuesday
4 months agoTampa Bay Rays closer Pete Fairbanks picked up his 15th save of the season in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Yankees. Fairbanks came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by two. He got the first out on a ground-out, allowed a single, got the second out on a strikeout, allowed the runner to advance to second on defensive indifference, and ended the game on a line-out. The 30-year-old has missed some time this season due to injury but has looked solid when on the field, converting all but two save opportunities with a 3.13 ERA, a 9.09 K/9 rate, and a 3.69 BB/9 rate in 31 2/3 innings of work. He should continue to be a reliable fantasy option as long as he stays healthy.
