Pete Carroll Says Russell Wilson Was Over-Trying
6 years agoSeattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said quarterback Russell Wilson was "over-trying" in Monday night's Week 2 loss to the Bears on the road. Wilson went 22-for-36 for 226 yards, two touchdowns, an interception returned for a touchdown and a lost fumble. He was also sacked six times, with five coming in the first half. The Seahawks have allowed a league-worst 12 sacks through two games. “I’m finding Russ over-trying a little bit,” Carroll said on the Brock and Salk Show. “He’s pressing in difficult situations to try and see if he can come up with a way to make something happen instead of just getting rid of the football.” Wilson was just 9-for-22 for 69 yards in the first three quarters against Chicago. There's not a whole lot Wilson can do with no running game to speak of, a porous offensive line and no Doug Baldwin (knee). Until further notice, you need to downgrade Wilson to a QB2 in fantasy.
