Pedro Strop Out For Rest Of Season
6 years agoChicago Cubs relief pitcher Pedro Strop (hamstring) will not pitch again in the regular season after an MRI exam showed a moderate left hamstring strain. It's unknown if he'd be able to return if Chicago makes the playoffs. Manager Joe Maddon curiously left Strop in to hit for himself on Thursday with the team up a run in extra innings, and Strop proceeded to ground into an inning-ending double play while also injuring himself. Former closer Brandon Morrow (biceps) remains out and may not make it back this year also, leaving Maddon to likely mix and match between Jesse Chavez, Steve Cishek and Carl Edwards Jr. Chavez recently stepped in for a few saves, so he could be the favorite, but Cishek and Edwards could factor in as well.
