Pedro Strop Down To Marlins, Rangers
5 years agoThe Miami Marlins and Texas Rangers are the two finalists for the services of relief pitcher Pedro Strop, according to a source. The 34-year-old right-hander struggled to the tune of a 4.97 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 50 outings (41 2/3 innings) for the Cubs in 2019, but he did close out 10 saves after recording a career-high 13 saves the previous season. Strop should pitch in a high-leverage, late-inning role in either Texas or Miami, and he'd have a chance at ninth-inning duties if he were to land with the rebuilding Fish. However, he'd be a low-end fantasy stopper if he's closing out games for the likely last-place Marlins.
