Pedro Strop Confident He'll Be Ready
6 years agoChicago Cubs relief pitcher Pedro Strop is confident that his right hamstring issue won't keep him from being ready on Opening Day. Manager Joe Maddon said that Strop can continue his throwing program this week after tweaking his hamstring last Saturday against the Angels. "The trainers are very optimistic," Maddon said. "He's still able to throw at a great distance. Whenever you're able to keep your arm working, that matters a lot." Strop's fantasy stock is up after he filled in admirably as the team's closer in the second half last year with Brandon Morrow (elbow) injured. However, with Morrow potentially taking the role back whenever he's healthy, Strop will only be a low-end fantasy closing option.
