Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine (knee) will miss the first 2-3 months of the new NHL campaign. Following a knee-on-knee collision with an opposing player in Saturday's preseason game against Toronto, Laine has been diagnosed with a sprained left knee. This is a horrible blow for Laine, who missed time with a broken clavicle a season ago and skated in only 18 games. However, the good news is that he at least won't require surgery and could be back before the turn of the year. Laine's injury offers Josh Anderson a chance to log regular top-six minutes at the start of the campaign.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
