Patrick Mahomes Confident Long-Term Deal Will Get Done
5 years agoKansas City Chiefs quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes is confident that a long-term contract extension will get done in time. In an unexpected move, the Chiefs exercised Mahomes' fifth-year option, so he's currently under team control for two more years. But it's safe to expect that a new deal will get done before his current one expires. "Obviously I want to be a Chief for a long time," Mahomes told reporters Friday. "I want to have a contract that says that and I can go out there and know I have that security. I understand and trust the Chiefs organization and everybody in it that they're gonna handle it the right way." It's just a matter of time before he becomes the highest-paid player in the NFL. Mahomes' elite athleticism and huge arm make him an elite QB1 in fantasy for years to come.
