Patrick Cantlay A Course Horse At Muirfield Village
10 months agoPatrick Cantlay has had a bit of a up-and-down season by his own lofty standards. Currently sitting at OWGR No. 9, the 32-year-old Tour star has finished outside of the top-20 in his last three starts, and he hasn't won an event since the BMW Championship in August of 2022. But he is still a world-class talent, and he should find plenty of comfort heading to a course where he has phenomenal course history at. Cantlay has teed off at the Memorial seven times, posting two wins, two other top-5 finishes, and no other finish worse than T35. He also participated in the Workday Charity Open in 2020 which was hosted at Muirfield Village, and he gained close to eight strokes from tee-to-green en route to a T7 finish. Cantlay looks to be one of the lowest-owned options above the $9,000 salary range on DraftKings, and fantasy managers investing in Cantlay this week could be handsomely rewarded come Sunday evening.

Patrick Cantlay Looking To Turn The Tides At TPC Sawgrass
4 weeks agoFor someone as deadly with his ball striking and, at times, the clutchest putter on the PGA Tour, Patrick Cantlay has struggled to find much to be happy about at TPC Sawgrass. His best finish is a T19 in 2023 by gaining over nine strokes ball striking, and is similar form with the irons heading into this week. Over his last three starts, Cantlay is averaging +1.23 strokes gained on approach. The performance off the tee hasn't been as hot, but then again, his last few outings have been much more driver-dependent than perhaps TPC Sawgrass is. There is certainly room to be skeptical of the 32-year-old this week, but it feels like the Stadium Course is a venue where he will scare a win or even get one eventually.

Patrick Cantlay Trending Upward Ahead Of Arnold Palmer Invitational
1 month agoPatrick Cantlay has had a good start to the season, with two T5s and a T15 in three of his four starts. However, he hasn't been able to put everything together for four days and has left every event with one round he'd probably like to redo. That's all it takes to give up wins on the PGA Tour, but eventually, a guy with Cantlay's talent will break through. Bay Hill is a place ripe for the picking with his skill set, ranking 2nd on the season in GIR Percentage (76.39%), 26th in strokes gained tee to green (+0.823), and 30th in strokes gained putting (+0.501). The only scare is the reduction in putting that he's historically had on bermuda greens compared to his more comfortable surfaces on the West Coast. However, he can easily take the Scottie Scheffler route of success if his ball striking stays solid. Play Cantlay with confidence this week.

Patrick Cantlay In Solid Form To Start 2025 Season
2 months agoPatrick Cantlay finished tied for 33rd at the ATT Pebble Beach Pro-Am two weeks ago and returns to action this week for The Genesis Invitational, which is being held at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, California. Cantlay missed the Farmers Insurance Open last month, also at Torrey Pines. However, over the past 12 months, he ranks in the 64th percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from over 200 yards in the fairway. This is important to mention, as over 22% of approach shots taken at the Farmers Insurance Open were from this distance. Given Cantlay's strong start to the season, he could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups this week.

Patrick Cantlay Continues Playing Well To Start 2025 Season
2 months agoPatrick Cantlay finished tied for fifth at The American Express two weeks ago and is back in action this week for the ATT Pebble Beach Pro-Am. In his two starts this season, Cantlay has two top-20 finishes, and he has strong historical performances at this event. He finished tied for 11th in 2024, tied for fourth in 2022, and tied for third in 2021. It's worth mentioning that over the past 12 months, Cantlay ranks in the 63rd percentile in proximity to the hole on approach shots from 100-150 yards in the fairway. This is significant since more than 26% of approach shots at last year's tournament came from this distance. Given his past performances and current form, Cantlay could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups this week.
