The 24-year-old had his first career fight against Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic in Tuesday's 8-1 win and wasn't able to finish the contest. Gustafsson was in the lineup for only the third time this season. He hasn't scored any points with four shots on goal. Rasmus Kupari will likely replace Gustafsson on the fourth line in Thursday's matchup against Vegas. Kupari's work includes three points (two goals, one assist) in 28 appearances this season.

1 week agoOttawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark will get the nod for Wednesday's matchup against Anaheim. He will face the Ducks for the second time this month. On Dec. 1, Anaheim beat Ullmark and the Senators 4-3 in a shootout on home ice. However, this marks Ullmark's lone loss in his last four starts. He has limited Detroit and Nashville to only one goal in back-to-back starts, improving to 7-7-2. On average, Ullmark has allowed 2.81 goals this season with a .898 save percentage and one shutout. Ottawa's No. 1 had a tough time against the Ducks in the first meeting of the season, but Anaheim averages the third-fewest goals in the league (2.42), making this a good matchup for Ullmark.

1 week agoAnaheim Ducks center Leo Carlsson (upper body) will return from a six-game absence on Wednesday against Ottawa. The Swedish pivot suffered an upper-body injury a couple of weeks ago just as he was enjoying a good offensive spell. Carlsson re-enters the lineup on Wednesday with five points (two goals, three assists) posted in his last seven appearances. He's on six goals and 11 points in 20 games for the season. Carlsson is expected to skate with Cutter Gauthier and Alex Killorn. Mason McTavish will play a smaller role in the Ducks attack with Carlsson back.

1 week agoNew York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin will make his 21st start of the campaign on Wednesday against Buffalo. The star netminder has struggled lately, winning only once in his last seven outings. As a result of his recent poor form, Shesterkin's record for the season has dropped to 9-10-1. He has allowed 2.95 goals with a .910 save percentage and one shutout. Wednesday's matchup gives Shesterkin and the Rangers a good opportunity to get back on track. Buffalo finds itself on a seven-game skid and has been limited to two or fewer goals four times during the stretch.

He's available again after missing 12 games with a lower-body injury. Samuelsson is expected to work with Connor Clifton on the third defensive pairing, pushing Jacob Bryson out of the lineup. His game is very limited, so fantasy managers should ignore Samuelsson. In 13 appearances this season, Samuelsson has recorded one goal, 15 shots, 14 blocks, and 24 hits.

Two of the points came in the third period as Minnesota extended the game with a goal inside the final minute. The productive outing ended a four-game point drought for Johansson. 2024-25 has been an inconsistent campaign for Johansson, but he's part of a talented forwards group and tends to heat up occasionally. The Swedish veteran boasts 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 27 games for the season.

1 week agoSt. Louis Blues center Robert Thomas led the way as the team beat Vancouver 4-3 in overtime Tuesday night. He was involved in three of St. Louis' four goals, recording a short-handed tally and dishing out two assists. Thomas' season suffered an early blow when he broke his ankle, but the 25-year-old has been very productive since returning to the lineup. Across his last 10 appearances, Thomas has contributed four goals and nine assists. He's averaging over a point per game for the season, having logged five goals and 14 assists in 17 contests.

1 week agoWinnipeg Jets center Mark Scheifele added three points to his tally as the team eased past Boston 8-1 on Tuesday. He potted two goals, one on the power play, and tallied one assist. Scheifele's form has been one of the keys to Winnipeg's success this season, and he's been terrific on home ice, scoring at least one point in all 13 outings so far. This marks the longest home point streak by a player in franchise history. If he can keep up his current scoring rate, Scheifele will post his first career 90-point campaign. He's on 16 goals and 34 points through 30 games.

1 week agoNashville Predators right wing Jonathan Marchessault scored two of the team's goals in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to Calgary. Marchessault's second put the Predators 3-2 up in the second period, but the team couldn't stop its slide, tying a franchise record with an eighth consecutive loss. With the team struggling, it's been tough for the players to live up to expectations, and Marchessault is no different. Since the start of November, he's notched points in just six games. The veteran forward has tallied 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) for the season with 48 hits in 29 contests. There have been only two occasions this campaign when Marchessault has recorded points in back-to-back games.

1 week agoColorado Avalanche forwards Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen skated circles around the Penguins on Tuesday, combining for 10 points in a 6-2 victory. Each had five points, with MacKinnon producing one goal and four assists and Rantanen logging his 10th career hat trick and two assists. It was the second time MacKinnon and Rantanen posted five points each in the same game. The two have been truly dominant this season. MacKinnon leads the league with 46 points (10 goals, 36 assists) in 30 games, and Rantanen sits fourth among all skaters with 42 points (18 goals, 24 assists).

The Predators lost their captain to a lower-body injury after he had logged 5:32 of ice time. As the team has massively struggled this season, Josi has not had a good campaign, but he's still a massive presence on the ice. In 29 outings, Josi has registered a team-high 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) with 86 shots, 52 blocks, and 32 hits. The Predators defense also recently lost Alexandre Carrier (upper body), and Jeremy Lauzon (lower body) remains out, resulting in rookie Adam Wilsby playing a big role.

2 weeks agoSeattle Kraken goaltender Joey Daccord (illness) will return to the crease on Tuesday versus Florida. He was unavailable on Sunday against the Rangers because of an illness. Daccord stepped aside after having won back-to-back starts. The 28-year-old has suffered only four losses since the start of last month, putting together a strong 12-6-1 record for the season. He has produced one shutout while allowing 2.50 goals with a .913 save percentage. To improve his record on Tuesday, Daccord has to find a way to keep the league's third-best offense quiet. Florida has averaged 3.75 goals a night in 2024-25.

His status for the game was initially up in the air after Sillinger sustained a lower-body injury in Sunday's 4-1 win against Winnipeg. Sillinger has been quietly good this season, recording 18 points (four goals, 14 assists) in 26 games. He has logged two multi-point outings in five December appearances, posting a goal and four assists. We should see Sillinger in his normal role on the third line on Tuesday, next to Zachary Aston-Reese and Mathieu Olivier.

The 27-year-old has upped his scoring rate a bit in 2024-25 and boasts seven assists through 25 outings, but Cernak's main value comes out in the defensive zone.
