1 week agoPhiladelphia Flyers center Ryan Poehling (upper body, personal) has been activated from Injured Reserve and is poised to rejoin the lineup against San Jose on Monday. He's been out for three games with an upper-body injury while also dealing with a family matter. Poehling's work includes five assists, eight shots, 20 blocks, and seven hits in 12 outings this season. He will center the third line on Monday, with Anthony Richard and Matvei Michkov skating next to him. Morgan Frost will exit the lineup as a healthy scratch. Michkov's presence on his line will boost Poehling's fantasy appeal on Monday, especially since it's a favorable matchup against a team that allows 3.44 goals per game.Source: Adam Kimelman
1 week agoPhiladelphia Flyers right wing Matvei Michkov is expected to return to the lineup on Monday versus San Jose. He has been a healthy scratch for the past two games. Sitting on 10 points (four goals, six assists) through his first 13 career appearances, Michkov is tied with Travis Konecny for the scoring lead on the Flyers roster, but he has struggled to make a positive impact during even-strength play. The 19-year-old has notched only three even-strength points and carries a minus-eight rating. Monday's matchup offers Michkov a good opportunity to improve his numbers, as the Sharks have allowed the sixth-most even-strength goals in the league this campaign.Source: Adam Kimelman
1 week agoPhiladelphia Flyers defenseman Jamie Drysdale (upper body) has been placed on Injured Reserve. He was already ruled out for Monday's game against San Jose, with Flyers head coach John Tortorella saying that Drysdale is "dinged up." Now it's clear that Philadelphia will be without Drysdale for at least three games. He's eligible to return to the lineup on Nov. 18 against Colorado. Drysdale has logged three points (one goal, two assists), 12 shots, and 28 blocks through 15 games this season. Veteran Erik Johnson comes into the lineup as his replacement.Source: Adam Kimelman
1 week agoNashville Predators center Tommy Novak (upper body) will miss a fourth straight game on Monday versus Colorado. Novak participated in the morning skate but isn't quite ready to go yet. His next chance to return comes on Thursday against Edmonton. Novak's absence isn't a big miss for the Predators, as he has struggled for form this season. After posting back-to-back 40-point campaigns, the 27-year-old has totaled only three goals and four points in 12 appearances.Source: Max Herz
1 week agoVegas Golden Knights right wing Mark Stone (lower body) will remain sidelined for Monday's tilt against Carolina. The veteran star is battling a lower-body injury, sitting out a second consecutive game. Stone tends to be injury-prone, but he had skated in all 13 games this season before missing Friday's matchup against Seattle. He's been on fire, posting six goals and 15 assists. Due to Stone's absence, Nicolas Roy has been elevated to the top line. Roy produced a two-point outing on Friday and will remain a good fantasy option until Stone returns. He's on 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 14 games for the season.Source: Jesse Granger
1 week agoMontreal Canadiens goaltender Cayden Primeau will make his first start of the month in Monday's matinee against Buffalo. It's his fifth start overall this campaign, with Primeau sporting a 1-2-1 record. The 25-year-old has had a tough time, allowing three or more goals in all of his appearances. Primeau has a 4.38 goals-against average and a .861 save percentage for the year. The Sabres aren't among the strongest teams in the league, but they will still pose a big threat to Primeau and the Canadiens. Buffalo will host Monday's game after racking up three consecutive wins while scoring 15 goals.Source: Arpon Basu
1 week agoMinnesota Wild left wing Kirill Kaprizov continued his terrific campaign with an assist in Sunday's 2-1 overtime loss to Chicago. Setting up Matt Boldy late in regulation, he became the third player in franchise history with a nine-game road point streak. One more point would have put Kaprizov next to Wayne Gretzky as the only two players in NHL history to record multiple points in nine consecutive road games. Kaprizov entered Sunday's action off the back of two consecutive three-point outings on away ice. Minnesota now heads home for a pair of games, but Kaprizov likely can't wait for the next road trip. Out of his 28 points this season, 21 have been scored in road games.Source: ESPN
1 week agoChicago Blackhawks goaltender Petr Mrazek had a strong outing against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, kicking away 31 of 32 shots in a 2-1 overtime win. The Czech netminder came very close to his first shutout of the campaign, as Matt Boldy scored for Minnesota with only 4:31 left in regulation. The red-hot Wild were limited to fewer than three goals for only the fourth time this season. Mrazek has picked up some form lately but has been flipping between wins and losses for six starts. He has taken his record to 5-7-0 and boasts a 2.85 goals-against average with a .905 save percentage. These are good numbers from Mrazek, but he's carrying a losing record because the team offense struggles. There are only five teams in the league averaging fewer goals than Chicago.Source: ESPN
1 week agoSan Jose Sharks goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood found an answer to all 44 shots the New Jersey Devils generated against him on Sunday, producing his first shutout of the season in a 1-0 win. Blackwood, a former Devil, improved to 3-4-2 for the season. Life on the Sharks roster tends to be difficult for goalies, but Blackwood has made it look easy lately. All of his three wins have come in his last four starts. Blackwood's goals-against average stands at 3.10, and he has recorded a .910 save percentage. The 27-year-old shares the net with Vitek Vanecek in San Jose and will likely get the night off against Philadelphia on Monday.Source: ESPN
1 week agoColumbus Blue Jackets right wing Kirill Marchenko picked up a goal and an assist in Sunday's 4-2 loss to Anaheim, logging his fifth multi-point outing of the season. Marchenko helped Yegor Chinakhov to score a power-play goal and lit the lamp himself in an even-strength situation. Skating in his 151st career game, the Russian forward became the second-fastest player in Blue Jackets history to score 50 goals for the team. Six of the goals have come this season, with Marchenko also producing nine assists in 14 games. The Blue Jackets appear to be heading nowhere, but in Marchenko, they boast a big scoring threat who is averaging over a point per game.Source: ESPN
1 week agoAnaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson made a winning debut to the season, defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2 on Sunday. He stopped 38 of 40 shots to produce a fantastic .950 save percentage. Gibson sat out the first month of action due to an appendectomy. With Gibson out of commission, Lukas Dostal has carried a heavy workload. Dostal started the campaign in wonderful form but has lost momentum lately. It will be interesting to see how the goaltending situation in Anaheim unfolds. The Ducks also have veteran James Reimer in their ranks.Source: ESPN
1 week agoAnaheim Ducks center Mason McTavish (upper body) is considered day-to-day. He missed his first game of the season on Sunday against Columbus. McTavish was also unavailable for practice on Saturday, and according to Ducks head coach Greg Cronin, the 21-year-old centerman is "dealing with some tightness." Before getting hurt, McTavish had just built up good momentum with a three-game point streak. He has totaled eight points (two goals, six assists) in 13 appearances for the season. Isac Lundestrom has a chance to play a larger role with McTavish out of the lineup. However, he is not a viable fantasy option.Source: Anaheim Ducks
2 weeks agoPittsburgh Penguins center Cody Glass has been diagnosed with a concussion. He was hurt on Thursday versus Carolina and has been placed on Injured Reserve. Given the nature of the injury, it's unclear when Glass will be able to return to action. The 25-year-old has contributed four assists in 14 games this season, averaging 11:47 of ice time. Pittsburgh also lost Kevin Hayes (upper body) this week, forcing head coach Mike Sullivan to rethink his plans. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin practiced on separate lines again on Sunday, with Drew O'Connor moved up to the top trio.Source: Seth Rorabaugh
2 weeks agoPittsburgh Penguins center Kevin Hayes (upper body) is considered week-to-week. He has already sat out a pair of games and will not be making a quick return. Hayes is a new face in town and has registered three goals with one assist in 14 appearances. He has been used sparingly in the bottom six, with Hayes averaging 9:27 of ice time for the season. Blake Lizotte has come into the lineup as the fourth-line center, producing some good performances. He has fired in two goals in his first five appearances of the season.Source: NHL.com
2 weeks agoSan Jose Sharks defenseman Jake Walman (upper body) will miss a third consecutive game on Sunday versus New Jersey. He was initially regarded as a game-time decision for the matchup. It's been a productive campaign for Walman, who has recorded nine points, 35 shots, 22 blocks, and 16 hits in 12 appearances. Rookie Jack Thompson will continue to fill in for Walman. Thompson recently scored his first career goal and has picked up four points in eight games. However, three of his points have come on the power play, and San Jose faces a good penalty-killing team on Sunday, making it tough for Thompson to add to his account.Source: Sheng Peng
