3 months agoGreen Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee) will be inactive again on Monday Night Football against the New Orleans Saints, according to a source. The 27-year-old Pro Bowl cornerback was able to practice in full all of last week, but the Packers are being cautious with the veteran defensive back, and he'll end up missing his fifth straight game. Hopefully, Alexander will be available for a big divisional matchup on Sunday, Dec. 29, in Week 17 against the Minnesota Vikings at home. With Alexander out yet again, Keisean Nixon, Carrington Valentine and Eric Stokes will remain the team's corners in an excellent matchup against a Saints offense with very little experience at the receiver position thanks to injuries. New Orleans will also be starting rookie QB Spencer Rattler, making the Packers' defense/special teams unit in fantasy an attractive streaming option in Week 16.Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler
3 months agoThe Green Bay Packers are activating tight end Luke Musgrave (ankle) from Injured Reserve on Monday, and he will play against the New Orleans Saints, according to a source. Musgrave underwent surgery on his ankle in October and hasn't played since Week 3, so the Packers will ease him back in. The 24-year-old caught 34 of his 46 targets for 352 yards and one touchdown in his first 11 NFL games (nine starts) in Green Bay last year. In four games before injuring his ankle this year, Musgrave was barely involved behind Tucker Kraft, catching five of seven targets for 22 yards. He probably won't be all the field that much on Monday night in his first game back after a long layoff, and Musgrave will be a low-upside deep sleeper in DFS formats for the final three games of the regular season and in the playoffs for the Packers.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
3 months agoGreen Bay Packers kicker Brandon McManus has been perfect on all his kicks over the last four games. It appears that the Packers have finally found a reliable kicking option. Last week, McManus connected on all three of his field goal attempts and all three extra point attempts in the win over the Seattle Seahawks. McManus has been active lately and should continue to see plenty of work with the way this offense is playing right now. They head into a plus-matchup against the New Orleans Saints defense in Week 16. Fantasy managers looking for a streaming option in Week 16 should consider using McManus.Source: ESPN
3 months agoGreen Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints. Musgrave has been out since Week 5 with his injury and could make a return this week. His presence would be less relevant for his fantasy value and more tied to the value of Tucker Kraft. Kraft looks like a great tight-end option this week and Musgrave's return would only cut into his value a little bit this week. If Musgrave is out, Kraft is locked and loaded as the go-to tight end for the Packers and is a great play at the position.Source: Green Bay Packers
3 months agoThe Green Bay Packers' defense and special teams' unit looks to build off the momentum of one of their best games of the season as they host the New Orleans Saints in Week 16. The Packers' defense was one of the stars of Green Bay's Week 15 win against the Seattle Seahawks as they tallied seven sacks and two interceptions as a unit. Those seven sacks were the second-highest total the defense has put up all season and now gets a shell of an offense in New Orleans that is starting Spencer Rattler, who is 0-3 as a starter. Combine that with the Saints not having Alvin Kamara available and the Packers D/ST unit looking like one of the best plays for Week 16 for fantasy managers at D/ST.Source: RotoBaller

3 months agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson has been the Packers' primary downfield option in recent weeks and looks to break off some long gains as the Packers host the New Orleans Saints in Week 16. Watson's game is well-known at this point for fantasy: break off a long gain or two and hope he gets into the end zone. With two 100-yard games in his past five contests, Watson has been a solid fantasy option. When he hasn't, he's been hard to stomach when in lineups. With Romeo Doubs returning last week from concussion protocol, that adds another weapon and spreads out targets even more for the other remaining pass-catchers like Watson, Jayden Reed, Tucker Kraft, and others. With Watson being a clear boom-or-bust option in fantasy football lineups, he's more of a volatile flex option despite a great matchup against the Saints in Week 16.Source: RotoBaller
3 months agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed had a hot start to his 2024 NFL season but has been stuck in a slump. He'll look to climb out of it in Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints on Monday. Reed has 34 receiving yards or fewer and is averaging less than four targets per game in his last five games. While Reed has three touchdowns in those games, those touchdowns are what is fueling his fantasy value lately, not his target-earning ability. Add in Romeo Doubs returning to the Packers' lineup from concussion protocol last week, and that addition continues to smooth out targets for every other pass-catching option for Green Bay. The Saints have been a middle-of-the-pack team in defending slot receivers this season, so the matchup isn't a slam dunk. Despite that, Reed is a low-end flex option for fantasy managers given the Packers' focus on the run and dwindling passing-game opportunities.Source: RotoBaller
3 months agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs looks to keep his strong start going after returning from concussion protocol when the Packers host the New Orleans Saints on Monday. Doubs, who hadn't played since Week 12, cleared concussion protocol to suit up in Week 15 and he scored twice and caught three passes for 40 yards on five targets. With Doubs back in the fold for the Packers, he adds a solid, consistent option to the Packers' pass-catching group, but the Packers have been leaning towards the run in recent weeks. Not to mention that the Packers and quarterback Jordan Love have also spread the wealth among their targets, so not one player has been the clear go-to receiver in the latest stretch of games. Doubs is a solid flex option for fantasy managers in a good matchup against the Saints, but the ceiling is low.Source: RotoBaller
3 months agoGreen Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs looks to keep his awesome run going in Week 16 as the Packers host the New Orleans Saints. Jacobs has been on fire over the last five games, where he's scored nine touchdowns and averages 21 carries and 112 total yards per game. The Packers have been leaning more and more towards the run in the second half of this season as Green Bay has a bottom-five pass rate over expected. The expectation for Jacobs to continue that rushing volume is there against a Saints team that ranks 28th in defensive EPA per rush attempt. With this excellent matchup looming, it should be no surprise that Jacobs is a must-start option at running back for fantasy managers this week.Source: RotoBaller
3 months agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has a great matchup on tap as the Packers host the New Orleans Saints in Week 16. Love has been solid this season, but for fantasy purposes, it's left fantasy managers wanting a bit more. With just one top 12 finish among fantasy quarterbacks in the last four weeks, Love has been a floor play in fantasy despite multiple touchdowns in three of those four weeks. The lack of passing volume and increasing willingness to lean into the run with Josh Jacobs has impacted the fantasy viability of not just Love, but Green Bay's pass-catchers too. With a great matchup against the Saints who give up the seventh-highest passing yards per game this season, Love is a low-end fantasy starting quarterback, but realistically, he's more of a streaming candidate for Week 16.Source: RotoBaller
3 months agoGreen Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee) appears to be well on his way to playing on Monday night in Week 16 against the visiting New Orleans Saints. Alexander practiced in full on both Thursday and Friday and could be completely removed from the injury report if he does the same for the third straight day in Saturday's practice. The 27-year-old defensive back has missed the last four games due to a PCL injury that he suffered against the Chicago Bears in Week 11. Alexander is on track to return this week, although we'd expect the Packers to limit his snap count after missing more than a month of action due to his knee injury. The two-time Pro Bowler isn't on the fantasy map in IDP leagues, but his return down the stretch would be a big boost to an underrated Packers defense heading into the playoffs in January.Source: Packers.com
3 months agoGreen Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave (ankle) put in another day with a limited practice on Friday. The Packers will face the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football in Week 16, so Green Bay will have one more day of practice on Saturday. Since having his 21-day practice window opened to return from Injured Reserve, the 24-year-old has practiced on a limited basis five times. Unless he upgrades to a full session on Saturday, it's possible the Packers keep Musgrave on IR for another week. Musgrave has looked good in practice this week, but Green Bay has no incentive to rush him back and risk him not being 100 percent for the playoffs in four weeks. Even when Musgrave returns, he'll play second fiddle to starting tight end Tucker Kraft and will be off the fantasy radar. In four games before going on IR, Musgrave caught five of his seven targets for 22 yards and a touchdown.Source: Packers.com
3 months agoGreen Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee) was back at practice on Thursday and considered a full participant during a snowy session. The two-time pro bowler hasn't played since Week 11 and has only logged a total of 10 snaps after Week 8. Getting one of their top defensive backs would do wonders for the Packers defense, especially against a New Orleans Saints team that's hurting and may need to go to their rookie quarterback. This season, Alexander has registered two interceptions (one pick-six), seven passes defended, and 16 total tackles (15 solo).Source: Rob Demovsky
3 months agoThe Green Bay Packers are not ready to rule out the possibility of running back MarShawn Lloyd (appendix) returning to action this season. When discussing Lloyd with the media on Thursday, head coach Matt LaFleur said, "I never want to shut the door on that. ... He's just going to focus on continuing to get better and when he can go, he'll go." The 23-year-old has endured a frustrating start to his NFL career, appearing in just one game so far. The rookie played back in Week 2, rushing six times for 15 yards on the ground while adding a three-yard reception. Lloyd remains a key part of the Packers' future plans, but the chances of him getting back on the field before fantasy playoffs conclude are slim. He should be dropped in all redraft formats and stashed in dynasty leagues.Source: Wes Hodkiewicz
