2 months agoGreen Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (hip) will make his training camp debut and return to practice on Tuesday. Lloyd has been out with a minor hip injury and will only do individual drills on Tuesday as he ramps up. The third-rounder out of USC is missing valuable reps in camp right now, but it looks like the 23-year-old should be able to return sooner than later with the rest of the team. Heading into his first NFL season, Lloyd will clearly be behind lead back Josh Jacobs, and he could also be behind AJ Dillon, who looks determined to put his disappointing 2023 season in the rearview mirror. However, Lloyd's explosiveness is intriguing, and he'll have an opportunity to become the team's No. 2 before season's end. In deeper redraft leagues, Lloyd might be worth a late-round flier, especially if you go with Jacobs early on.Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

2 months agoGreen Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that quarterback Jordan Love will be a full participant in the team's first padded practice at training camp. "He's been ramping up. It's just you guys haven't seen it. He's been throwing every day after practice, and he's had guys catching for him," LaFleur. Love has been with the team at training camp but had been sitting out practices before signing a four-year contract extension worth $220 million on Friday with $155 in full guarantees. The 25-year-old is now the highest-paid player in the NFL after impressing in his first full year in the league in 2023, when he threw for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 17 regular-season games. The big performance from Love has catapulted him to low-end QB1 status in fantasy for upcoming 2024 drafts.Source: Green Bay Press-Gazette - Ryan Wood
2 months agoThe Green Bay Packers have officially decided to lock up quarterback Jordan Love long-term. Love and the Packers agreed to a new deal Friday evening, culminating in a four-year extension worth $220 million, including a $75 million signing bonus and $155 million guaranteed. The second-year starter will now be a part of the Packers for the foreseeable future, and his new deal puts him at the top of the list regarding annual average salary among quarterbacks. Despite playing just one season as a starter, the Packers saw enough from Love to warrant paying him a big bag of cash. He's the current QB8 in NFFC ADP (62nd overall). If Love has retained the gains that made him the fantasy QB6 in 2023, he'll provide a good bit of value at his current price and remains a target in every format for 2024.Source: Bleacher Report
2 months agoEarlier in the week, it was reported that Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love will not practice at training camp until he reaches an agreement on a new contract with the organization. According to NFL insider Dianna Russini, the two sides are getting close to reaching a deal. "Based on my conversations today, it's all making progress and heading there. Just not done at this time," Russini wrote on X. The 2020 first-round pick finally got a chance to start in 2023 following the departure of Aaron Rodgers, and he exceeded all expectations with 4,159 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. More importantly, he led Green Bay to a playoff victory over the No. 2 seed Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card round despite having one of the youngest offensive supporting casts in the NFL. Given the boom of the quarterback market, don't be surprised if Love signs a deal in the $50 million-salary range.Source: Dianna Russini -- The Athletic
2 months agoGreen Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon, who had a highly disappointing 2023 campaign for the Packers, has apparent reported to training camp in great shape. "This is THE best I've seen him. Hands down," head coach Matt LaFleur said. It's that time of the year when tons of best-shape-of-my-life stories start to surface. Take it with a grain of salt. The 26-year-old Dillon has plenty of motivation to improve this summer after averaging a weak 3.4 yards per carry on his 178 rushing attempts last year. The former second-rounder is on notice after the Packers drafted MarShawn Lloyd in the third round in April, so he may need a strong camp and preseason to avoid opening the regular season as the RB3 in Green Bay. Dillon's performance this summer will be something to watch, but after last season, he's off the fantasy radar in 12-team leagues.Source: The Athletic - Matt Schneidman
2 months agoGreen Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said he didn't think rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (hip) would be out too long to open training camp but that he probably would miss the next couple of days. Lloyd is sitting out of practices at the start of camp due to a mild hip injury. It's not ideal for the 23-year-old third-rounder as he tries to learn a new offense and adjust to the speed of the NFL, but as long as he returns soon, it shouldn't be a big issue. Josh Jacobs is the team's clear lead back entering the 2024 campaign, but Lloyd has a real chance to leapfrog AJ Dillon on the RB depth chart as the primary backfield complement to Jacobs. As long as Lloyd's ball-security issues don't resurface early on, he could become a valuable handcuff for fantasy managers that draft Jacobs early on.Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Tom Silverstein
2 months agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed was placed on the non-football injury list ahead of training camp, and he is not practicing on Day 1. However, the second-year playmaker said he suffered a minor toe injury at his youth camp, and it is "nothing to worry about." This is promising news for his availability later in camp as he looks to build off a strong rookie performance. The No. 50 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft posted 64 receptions for 793 yards and eight touchdowns and added 119 yards and two scores as a rusher in 2023. Although ascending quarterback Jordan Love is likely to spread targets around in 2024, Reed should continue to see manufactured touches and be a difference-maker in the red zone.Source: Matt Schneidman -- The Athletic
2 months agoGreen Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (hip) is not practicing on the first day of training camp due to a hip injury, according to team reporter Rob Demovsky. The rookie out of USC is expected to have a role in the ascending Green Bay offense right away, so missing reps is not ideal. However, it's early in the offseason, meaning teams are going to be extra cautious with bumps and bruises. For now, this development should not affect his rookie fantasy football value. While Josh Jacobs is fully expected to be the lead back in 2024, Lloyd could have standalone value as a handcuff running back, and his role could increase as the season moves along, especially if Jacobs continues to regress after a disappointing final season with the Las Vegas Raiders.Source: Rob Demovksy
2 months agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love will not practice at training camp until he has a new deal, according to general manager Brian Gutekunst. Love's camp informed the Packers of his decision on Saturday. Gutekunst said that a deal could get done in the coming days, but that deals also take time. "I feel we're close," Gutekunst said. While Love won't practice until he has a new deal, this isn't a holdout, as he's in the building and will take part in meetings. Love's extension is expected to exceed $50 million per year after he excelled in his first full season as the starter in 2023 with 4,159 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 17 regular-season starts. The 25-year-old also led the Packers to a playoff upset win over the Dallas Cowboys on the road. Contract aside, Love heads into the 2024 campaign as RotoBaller's No. 11-ranked fantasy QB after his big 2023 season.Source: The Athletic - Matt Schneidman
2 months agoGreen Bay Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark agreed to a three-year, $64 million extension with the club. The Packers selected the 28-year-old with the No. 27 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. In 123 games with Green Bay, he's totaled 379 tackles, seven forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries. Clark also has 34 sacks on his resume, including a career-high 7.5 sacks during the 2023-24 campaign.Source: Adam Schefter
2 months agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (undisclosed) was placed on the Non-Football Injury list on Sunday. The second-year wideout suffered an injury while away from the team. However, he is "totally fine" and expected to miss only a few days of training camp before his eventual activation. Reed had an impressive first season in the National Football League, amassing 793 yards and eight touchdowns off 64 catches, adding 119 yards and two scores off 11 carries. With Jordan Love anticipated to have a solid year in 2024-25, Reed has 1,000-yard receiving potential, meaning he'll draw plenty of interest from fantasy managers heading toward Week 1.Source: Bill Huber
2 months agoGreen Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich basically has already said that rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd won't ride the bench like AJ Dillon did as a rookie. Lloyd brings shiftiness and explosiveness to the position, a much different element than Dillon brings, and it was evident during offseason practices. The Packers will want to see more of that from Lloyd in training camp this summer, as well as an ability to pass protect and catch passes. Head coach Matt LaFleur likes his backs to be well-versed in all aspects of the position. Josh Jacobs is the clear lead back for the Packers heading into the 2024 season, so Lloyd may be left to the waiver wire in standard 12-team leagues, but the third-rounder's combination of power and speed make him an intriguing big-play threat. Playing time and fumbling issues could be Lloyd's biggest obstacles as he heads to the next level.Source: The Athletic - Matt Schneidman
2 months agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks recently received high praise from his teammate. During a sit-down with Bleacher Report, Packers quarterback Jordan Love said he believes Wicks is going to have a monster year. The second-year wideout totaled 39 receptions, 581 yards, and four touchdowns during his rookie season. Wicks has shown flashes of big-play ability, but the lack of a true No. 1 receiver does put more stress on Wicks and his teammates. The fact Love is saying these things about Wicks should mean that the young wideout will have an increased role next season. Fantasy managers should monitor this situation heading into camp. Wicks might be a sneaky late round option as fantasy draft season approaches.Source: Bleacher Report
2 months agoGreen Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft (pectoral) has been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list to begin training camp. Both Kraft and center Zach Tom were placed on the PUP list after suffering torn pectoral muscles. Luckily, head coach Matt LaFleur said he doesn't expect either player to miss much of camp. Kraft will compete with Luke Musgrove for snaps as the starting tight end. The loss of snaps gives Musgrove a slight edge, but it doesn't sound like Kraft will be gone for too long. Musgrove is the favorite to be the starter, but Kraft could be a reliable second option for the Packers in 2024.Source: Zach Jacobsen
