2 months agoArizona Cardinals tight end Elijah Higgins caught two of his three targets for 12 yards in Sunday's loss to the Washington Commanders. Filling in for the injured Trey McBride (concussion), Higgins had a favorable matchup against a Commanders defense that has struggled in pass coverage this season. However, he failed to capitalize, as the Cardinals managed just 142 passing yards despite shifting to a pass-heavy game script. Although Higgins was on the field most of the snaps, there seemed to be no emphasis on getting him the ball. Given his limited involvement in this opportunity, Higgins remains a long shot as a streaming option next week against the San Francisco 49ers.Source: ESPN.com
2 months agoDespite the Arizona Cardinals' struggles to score in Sunday's 42-14 loss to the Washington Commanders, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. found the end zone for the fourth time this season. In addition to the touchdown, Harrison Jr. caught five passes for 45 yards, securing all but one of his targets. He has emerged as a reliable playmaker for the Cardinals, someone they can depend on in tough situations. Harrison Jr. will likely remain a focal point in their game plan as the offense regains its scoring rhythm. Fantasy managers should continue to keep him in their starting lineups, even with a tough Week 5 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.Source: ESPN.com
2 months agoArizona Cardinals running back James Conner delivered another solid performance in Sunday's 42-14 loss to the Washington Commanders, rushing 18 times for 104 yards and a touchdown. After managing just 17 rushing yards in the Week 3 loss to the Detroit Lions, Conner quickly put those concerns to rest with a strong bounce-back effort. He ran the ball effectively, showing power to break through tacklers and displaying impressive bursts. Conner should remain a fixture in fantasy lineups, as the Cardinals' offense will likely continue to lean on him while trying to snap their scoring slump. The veteran running back will look to build on Sunday's performance in a tough matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5.Source: ESPN.com
2 months agoArizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray passed for a season-low 142 yards on 16 of 24 pass attempts while rushing for three yards on one rushing attempt in Sunday's 42-14 loss to the Washington Commanders. The Cardinals' offense came into the game with high expectations, as the Commanders' defense had struggled all year against the pass, but the unit failed to meet those expectations. Even more surprising was the absence of Murray's rushing ability from the game plan—he ran just once for three yards. While Murray did connect with Marvin Harrison Jr. for a touchdown, there was little else positive to take from the defeat. Despite the down performance, Murray remains in the top 10 among quarterbacks in fantasy points, so managers will likely continue starting him. However, another outing like this one could raise concerns. Murray will look to rebound against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5.Source: ESPN.com
2 months agoDespite lacking star power, the Arizona Cardinals' defense has been a surprisingly solid unit this year. Last week, they held the Detroit Lions scoreless in the second half but only managed three fantasy points. In Week 4, the Cardinals face a surging Washington Commanders offense that has scored on every drive over the past two weeks. While the Cardinals' defense is improving and ranks 13th-best fantasy defense this season, this matchup isn't ideal. It's probably best to look elsewhere for a defense to start in Week 4.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoArizona Cardinals wide receiver Greg Dortch had another quiet outing in Week 3 following his solid Week 1 performance. Despite receiving six targets, Dortch managed only three catches for 35 yards in the loss to the Detroit Lions. His role remains consistent as the team's primary slot receiver, playing 66% of the snaps. With the Washington Commanders allowing the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers, Dortch could see an uptick in targets, especially with tight end Trey McBride (concussion) ruled out. Both McBride and Dortch typically run the majority of the team's underneath routes, making Dortch a potential primary check-down option. However, after back-to-back subpar weeks despite favorable matchups, fantasy managers should wait for another strong performance from Dortch before considering him for the starting lineup.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoArizona Cardinals kicker Matt Prater continued his perfect season last week, nailing two field goals from 40+ yards and converting his lone extra point attempt. Prater currently ranks as the ninth best fantasy kicker, averaging 10.3 points per game in standard leagues. The Cardinals face the Washington Commanders in Week 4, who rank 13th in points allowed to opposing kickers. Given the Commanders' defensive struggles this season, Arizona should generate plenty of scoring opportunities. With the game taking place in Arizona's dome, free of weather concerns, Prater shapes up as a solid low-end kicker option for Week 4.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoArizona Cardinals star tight end Trey McBride (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 4 game against the Washington Commanders as he remains in concussion protocol. In his absence, backup tight end Elijah Higgins will step into the starting role. The Cardinals' coaching staff has shown confidence in Higgins, who has seen significant playing time as the team frequently runs two-tight end sets. While Higgins has only been targeted four times this season, he's caught all of them, including a touchdown in Week 2 against the Rams. Kyler Murray tends to favor his tight ends, and with Higgins now starting, he's likely to see an increase in targets against a weak Commanders defense. McBride managers could consider streaming Higgins until McBride is ready to return.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoArizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson had his best game of the season in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions, hauling in eight catches for 64 yards. He'll look to build on that momentum in Week 4 with a favorable matchup against the Washington Commanders' struggling secondary. The Commanders rank last in fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers and have one of the weakest cornerback tandems in the NFL. Standing at 6'2" and 215 pounds, Wilson will have a noticeable size advantage that the Cardinals could exploit in the passing game. Currently rostered in just 14% of Yahoo Fantasy leagues, Wilson is a potential streaming option for managers in need of wide receiver help in Week 4.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoDespite solid performances in Weeks 1 and 2, Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner struggled to find running room in the Week 3 loss to the Detroit Lions, managing just 17 rushing yards. This has raised concerns among fantasy managers, especially after Conner had been viewed as a reliable starter across all league formats. However, there's no need for drastic reactions just yet. Conner remains a high-end RB2 heading into Week 4, with a favorable matchup against a Washington Commanders defense that ranks 20th in fantasy points allowed to running backs. In Week 3, the Commanders allowed Zack Moss to post his season-high performance. With the absence of tight end Trey McBride, Conner could also see an uptick in targets, boosting his potential even further. He remains a must-start for Week 4.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoAfter a subpar performance by his usual standards, Kyler Murray faces a favorable matchup in Week 4 against the Washington Commanders. Washington's pass defense ranks 31st in the NFL, allowing an average of 255.7 passing yards per game. They also rank dead last in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. While the Commanders' pass rush hasn't made a significant impact early this season, the Cardinals' offensive line should have little trouble keeping Murray upright. Adding to the advantage, Washington is coming off a short week and will be playing their second consecutive road game, which could lead to fatigue. Fantasy managers should not hesitate to start Murray with sky-high expectations for Week 4.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoArizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said there are no concerns with rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (quadriceps) for the Week 4 contest versus the Washington Commanders. Harrison was added to the injury report this week but was able to put in limited practices on both Wednesday and Thursday. It sounds like the 22-year-old was just getting a little extra rest this week and should be fine to suit up this Sunday. Harrison laid an egg in his NFL debut in the Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills but has been heavily involved the last two games, catching nine of 19 targets for 194 yards and three touchdowns. Fantasy managers surely would like to see more efficiency from the Harrison-Kyler Murray combination, but the fourth overall pick in this year's draft remains a must-start in fantasy lineups. Harrison could have another banner day against a suspect Commanders secondary in Week 4. UPDATE: Harrison was officially cleared for Week 4.Source: Arizona Sports - Tyler Drake
2 months agoArizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride (concussion) will not play on Sunday due to a concussion, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. McBride entered concussion protocol following last weekend's game after he took a hard helmet-to-helmet hit. The Colorado State product did not practice this week and will now set his sights on returning in Week 5 when the Cardinals face their division rival, the San Francisco 49ers. McBride has seen at least six targets in each of the first three games this season, with a high of nine in Week 2. Fantasy managers should closely monitor McBride's status next week. Elijah Higgins will now serve as the No.1 tight end in Arizona this weekend and could be a sneaky play in DFS and deeper formats as he faces the Washington Commanders who have one of the worst pass defenses in the sport.Source: Ian Rapoport
2 months agoArizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (quadriceps) was limited in practice for the second straight day this week on Thursday. Harrison is a new addition to the team's injury report this week, but the fact that he's practiced two days in a row means that he doesn't really appear to be in danger of missing a Week 4 tilt against the Washington Commanders on Sunday. The 22-year-old first-rounder looked to be just fine while running around at practice on Thursday, so fantasy managers need to leave him locked into all starting lineups this week. Harrison had a dud in his NFL debut in Week 1 with one catch for four yards against the Buffalo Bills, but Arizona has fed him the last two weeks, and he's racked up nine catches (19 targets) for 194 yards and three touchdowns. Harrison could easily go off again against a porous Washington secondary in Week 4.Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban
2 months agoArizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride (concussion) missed another day of practice on Thursday. McBride suffered a head injury in the Week 3 loss to the Detroit Lions and is currently in the league's concussion protocol. The fact that McBride has yet to practice this week is a bad sign for his availability this Sunday against the Washington Commanders. Fantasy managers that have McBride as their starting TE should have already been looking for a backup plan if he doesn't get the green light from an independent neurologist to play. If McBride is eventually ruled out, Elijah Higgins is most likely to serve as the pass-catching tight end for Arizona. However, he'll still be more of a long shot for fantasy purposes as a touchdown-dependent TE2. If anything, receivers Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch will see more looks from quarterback Kyler Murray.Source: The Arizona Republic - Theo Mackie
