13 hours agoChicago Cubs catcher Carson Kelly went a perfect 4-for-4 on Monday night in Sacramento, hitting for the cycle with a single, a double, a triple, and a home run. He finished with three runs scored, five RBI and a pair of walks as well, as his Cubs rolled to an 18-3 win over the Athletics in Sacramento. Kelly was making his third start of the season, as he continues to share time behind the plate with Miguel Amaya. The 30-year-old veteran is now 5-for-10 (.500) with an unsustainable .671 wOBA on the season after Monday's monster performance. He and Amaya have both looked good at the plate in the early going and remain affordable DFS streaming options whenever they're in Chicago's lineup.Source: ESPN.com
13 hours agoPortland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons (forearm) is listed on the injury report on Thursday with a questionable tag, meaning he may have to sit out a meeting with the Atlanta Hawks. The talented scorer has been dealing with a right forearm injury for some time. He was also listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the New York Knicks but ended up playing 35 minutes as a starter in that game. However, it seems that the injury to his shooting hand affected him against the Knicks, as Simons made only five of his 20 field-goal attempts during a 15-point performance. Scoot Henderson (concussion) also has health concerns, so the Trail Blazers backcourt may need to get more out of Dalano Banton going forward.Source: NBA Injury Report
13 hours agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet has made just one start for the Red Sox, but the team made a long-term commitment to the 25-year-old lefty by agreeing to a six-year contract extension worth $170 million, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. The deal begins next season and will keep Crochet spinning for the Sox through at least 2030, when there is an opt-out in the deal. Crochet moved from the bullpen to the rotation last year for the White Sox and had a breakout year with a 3.58 ERA, 2.69 FIP, and 12.8 K/9. The Red Sox acquired him this past offseason in a deal for multiple prospects, including catcher Kyle Teel. Boston views Crochet as the ace of their rotation for many years to come, and this deal keeps him from hitting the open market as a free agent after this season.Source: Jeff Passan
13 hours agoPortland Trail Blazers guard Scoot Henderson (concussion) will be absent for a second consecutive game on Tuesday against the Atlanta Hawks. He must clear concussion protocol before being eligible to return to the court. Due to Henderson's absence, Dalano Banton and Matisse Thybulle could pick up extra shifts in the rotation. However, Portland relied heavily on its starters in Sunday's game against the New York Knicks, with only a combined 31 minutes shared between Banton and Thybulle.Source: NBA Injury Report
13 hours agoPortland Trail Blazers center Deandre Ayton (calf) has been listed as out for Tuesday's meeting with the Atlanta Hawks. The Trail Blazers have been without Ayton since Feb. 10, and it remains unclear when or if Ayton will return this season. Donovan Clingan will continue to operate as the starting center, with Duop Reath providing backup. In 30 starts during his rookie campaign, Clingan has averaged 7.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks in 23.7 minutes. His offensive game is clearly not yet good enough for this level, as he has made only one field goal over the past two games, but Clingan is busy on the glass and an intimidating presence on the defensive end.Source: NBA Injury Report
13 hours agoMilwaukee Bucks guard AJ Green (shoulder) is considered questionable for Tuesday's clash against the Phoenix Suns. He already sat out the previous game due to a shoulder sprain and may remain on the shelf Tuesday with the same issue. Green's absence frees up around 23 minutes of action for Milwaukee's other guards. Gary Trent Jr. saw nearly 30 minutes off the bench on Sunday against the Atlanta Hawks, finishing with 10 points, while Kevin Porter Jr. had a heater with 28 points in 23 minutes. Both players are likely to get plenty of burn again on Tuesday if Green does not return.Source: NBA Injury Report
13 hours agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates are promoting right-handed pitching prospect Thomas Harrington to the majors to make his MLB debut on Tuesday evening against the Tampa Bay Rays. Harrington was competing for a spot on the Opening Day roster but fell short. However, Harrington did not need to wait long before receiving the call to the big leagues. He is considered to be the 79th best prospect in baseball on MLB.com. In spring training, Harrington tallied seven punchouts and held a 5.59 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP across nine 2/3 innings. Last season, he opened the campaign at Double-A and eventually reached Triple-A. Across 68 1/3 innings with Double-A, Harrington posted a strong 2.24 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP. At Triple-A, the 23-year-old held a 3.33 ERA with a stellar 0.93 WHIP in 46 innings of work. Harrington is worth adding in all 12+ team formats as he could earn a permanent spot in the rotation if he has an impressive MLB debut.Source: Noah Hiles
13 hours agoPhiladelphia 76ers point guard Kyle Lowry (hip) may return to the lineup on Tuesday against the New York Knicks, as the team has upgraded him to questionable. The veteran guard has missed nearly two months of action while managing a hip injury. This season, Lowry has suited up for only 33 games with the 76ers, averaging 4.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 18.9 minutes. Even if he returns from his extended absence, Lowry is not expected to be a big piece in the rotationSource: NBA Injury Report
13 hours agoPhiladelphia 76ers point guard Tyrese Maxey (finger) will be out for a 16th straight game on Tuesday against the New York Knicks. Last week, 76ers head coach Nick Nurse suggested that Maxey is expected to return to action this season. However, he has not been cleared for Tuesday's contest. Following Tuesday's action, Philadelphia will have six more games scheduled, starting with Thursday's meeting with the Milwaukee Bucks. Jared Butler has started most games at point guard in recent weeks, although he could face extra competition for playing time on Tuesday, as Kyle Lowry (hip) has been upgraded to questionable.Source: NBA Injury Report
13 hours agoPhiladelphia 76ers guard/forward Quentin Grimes (rest) is not listed on the injury report for Tuesday's matchup against the New York Knicks. He is set to return to the lineup for a special meeting with his former team. After having a limited role in New York, Detroit, and Dallas, Grimes has really blossomed with the 76ers. He has averaged 21.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.5 steals since moving to the City of Brotherly Love. Grimes will be out to show what the Knicks are missing, with players such as Lonnie Walker IV and Ricky Council IV taking on a smaller role offensively.Source: NBA Injury Report
14 hours agoLos Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez went 2-for-3 with a home run during their victory over the Atlanta Braves on Monday evening. Hernandez went deep in the opening frame off Atlanta right-hander Grant Holmes. His long ball also scored Shohei Ohtani. Later in the contest, he would add a single and a walk and eventually score twice more. Through his first six games of the campaign, the 32-year-old has enjoyed a hot start, hitting two home runs with a .545 SLG. He has tallied eight RBI but holds a modest .227 AVG. Hernandez should continue to see elite RBI opportunities batting in the top half of the potent Dodger lineup. Last season, Hernandez launched 33 home runs with 99 RBI in his first campaign as a Dodger. On Tuesday, he will have a tougher task facing Atlanta southpaw Chris Sale.Source: MLB.com
14 hours agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Gavin Sheets went 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles, a walk, and four RBI during their 7-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Monday evening. Sheets tallied his first hit in the second frame, an RBI double that scored Jackson Merrill and Jake Cronenworth. He would then cross home plate on a Fernando Tatis Jr. single. After hitting a single in the fourth, Sheets would tally his second double of the contest in the fifth inning, which scored Cronenworth for the second time and Xander Bogaerts. He would eventually score again on a Jason Heyward double. Through his first five games of the campaign, Sheets has only gone hitless in one and held an overall .500/.533/.857 slash line with three extra-base hits. He is worth streaming in deeper formats while he enjoys this hot stretch. He will face southpaw Logan Allen on Tuesday.Source: MLB.com
14 hours agoSan Francisco Giants first baseman Wilmer Flores went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI during their 7-2 victory over the Houston Astros on Monday evening. Flores tallied an RBI single in the second frame off Houston right-hander Ronel Blanco. This hit scored outfielder Heliot Ramos. Later in the sixth, Flores would launch a three-run shot, which scored Jung Hoo Lee and Patrick Bailey. The 33-year-old has enjoyed a productive start to the campaign, going 4-for-15 with three long balls, eight RBI, and a 1:1 BB:K. After going deep just four times across 71 contests last season, Flores is just one home run away from matching that number in 2025. Fantasy managers should expect Flores to continue to serve as the everyday DH in San Francisco while Jerar Encarnacion (hand) remains sidelined.Source: MLB.com
14 hours agoChicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson went 2-for-5 with a home run and a double during their victory over the Athletics on Monday evening. Swanson went deep for the second-straight game in the opening frame off Athletics right-hander Joey Estes. Later in the sixth inning, Swanson hit his second double of the season, scoring Kyle Tucker and Seiya Suzuki. Through his first seven games of the season, Swanson has posted a solid .259/.333/.556 slash line with four extra-base hits and five RBI. This is a nice start for Swanson as he held an underwhelming .242/.312/.390 line with just 16 round-trippers during the 2024 campaign. Fantasy managers should continue to view Swanson as a solid low-end No. 1 shortstop in all formats. He will face right-handed pitcher Luis Severino on Tuesday evening.Source: MLB.com
14 hours agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitching prospect Christian McGowan (elbow) has undergone Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career. McGowan is considered the No. 21-ranked prospect in the Phillies system on MLB.com. The 25-year-old has missed a lot of time due to injuries and will now face another extended absence. Dynasty managers should not expect him to return to the mound until later in the 2026 campaign. Last season, McGowan logged 34 1/3 innings at the Double-A level and posted a 6.29 ERA with a 1.72 WHIP. He tallied 39 punchouts and 21 free passes. During the 2023 season, McGowan logged 25 2/3 innings and held a 3.86 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP across time at High-A and Double-A. He will likely not return to the bump until the second half of the 2026 season at the earliest.Source: Jonathan Mayo

14 hours agoAthletics shortstop prospect Jacob Wilson went 1-for-2 with a home run during their loss to the Chicago Cubs on Monday evening. Wilson hit his solo shot off young Chicago right-hander Ben Brown in the third inning. Later in the contest, he would tally his second RBI on a groundout. Wilson has tallied at least one hit in each of his first five games of the regular season. Across this stint, he posted a .294/.294/.471 slash line with just one extra-base hit, which was Monday's long ball. He has yet to strike out this season, but has also not drawn a walk. Wilson progressed through the minor leagues very quickly last season and was able to appear in 28 MLB games before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury. Through his first 33 MLB games, the former sixth overall pick has held a .257/.311/.339 line. He is worth starting in all deeper formats as a middle infielder, given his upside to provide a solid batting average.Source: MLB.com
15 hours agoDallas Stars goaltender Casey DeSmith stopped 35 of the 36 shots he saw en route to defeating the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken held the advantage in the shot total, but DeSmith was able to lead the way to the victory. His lone mistake came in the opening frame when Kaapo Kakko scored his 14th goal of the season on a wrist shot. Over his last five contests, DeSmith has posted a 4-0-1 record with a stellar 1.77 GAA and a .948 save percentage. Even though Jake Oettinger sees the vast majority of starts in the Dallas crease, DeSmith is quite effective as the No. 2 option. Through 23 contests this season, DeSmith held a 14-6-1 record and posted a 2.30 GAA and a .922 save percentage. He is worth deploying in deeper formats in his next start.Source: NHL.com
15 hours agoDallas Stars left wing Mason Marchment tallied two helpers during their 3-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Monday evening. Marchment tallied the primary assist on Matt Duchene's 29th of the campaign in the second period. Later in the third, Marchment would add the secondary assist on Mikael Granlund's 20th goal of the season, which was an empty-netter. Since the start of March, Marchment has scored five goals and added eight helpers across 15 games. During this stretch, Marchment has logged 29 shots on goal with 22 hits and six blocked shots. Through 56 total games this season, the 29-year-old has scored 19 goals and added 23 helpers. He should continue to provide a steady offensive output playing in the Dallas top-six. He will look to stay on Thursday against the Nashville Predators.Source: NHL.com
15 hours agoCalgary Flames right wing Adam Klapka tallied a goal and an assist during their 3-2 shootout victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Monday evening. Klapka tallied both of his points in the final frame. He first added the primary helper on Ryan Lomberg's second goal of the season. Klapka would then find the back of the net to force overtime. Since being recalled from the AHL on March 14, Klapka has tallied three points across nine contests. During this stretch, he logged 32 hits with 12 penalty minutes and held a -3 rating. Through 22 total games this season at the NHL level, the 24-year-old has tallied just four points, but added an impressive 76 hits. He is a name to monitor in deeper category leagues given his ability to tally a high number of hits.Source: NHL.com
15 hours agoPhiladelphia Flyers goaltender Ivan Fedotov stopped 28 of the 29 shots he saw en route to defeating the Nashville Predators on Monday evening. The Predators dominated the shot total in this contest, but Fedotov was able to lead the way. His lone blemish came in the second frame when Zachary L'Heureux found the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season. This was a nice bounce-back outing for Fedotov as he carried a 0-5 record into Monday's game. During this skid, Fedotov posted a 3.54 GAA with an .858 save percentage. In his previous game leading up to Monday, he allowed seven goals. Fantasy managers should continue to expect Samuel Ersson to see most of the remaining starts. Fedotov should only be deployed as a deep-league streaming option in favorable matchups.Source: NHL.com
15 hours agoPhiladelphia Flyers right wing Matvei Michkov tallied two assists during their 2-1 victory over the Nashville Predators on Monday evening, which extended his point streak to six games. In this contest, he tallied one secondary helper and primary, both during 5-on-5 play. During this six-game stretch, Michkov has found the back of the net four times and added seven helpers. However, Michkov has done most of the damage over his past three contests as he has scored four goals and added three assists. Through 74 total games in his rookie campaign, the former seventh overall selection has found the back of the net 24 times and added 34 helpers. He has averaged 2.4 shots on goal per game and tallied 15 of his points on the power play. He will look to stay hot on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens.Source: NHL.com
15 hours agoNew Jersey Devils defenseman Luke Hughes tallied a goal and an assist during their 3-2 shootout victory over the Minnesota Wild. Hughes opened the scoring in the first period with a wrist shot. Later in the third, he would tally the secondary assist on Nico Hischier's 34th goal of the season. This outing extended his point streak to three games. Since March 1 (15 games), Hughes scored two goals and added 14 helpers, with eight of his helpers coming on the power play. During this stretch, he also logged 28 total shots on goal and added 15 blocked shots. Through 66 total games this season, the 21-year-old scored seven goals and added 34 assists. Fantasy managers should continue to start Hughes in all formats as he sees top minutes in all aspects of the game on the New Jersey blue line.Source: NHL.com
15 hours agoToronto Blue Jays second baseman Andres Gimenez went 2-for-2 with a double, a homer, a walk, three runs, one RBI, and a steal in a 5-2 win over the Washington Nationals on Monday. Gimenez is off to a red-hot start in 2025 as he has swatted three homers in 18 at-bats after notching just nine home runs for the Cleveland Guardians in 2024. Gimenez is unlikely to keep up with the power hitting as the season goes on, although he stole 60 bases over his previous two seasons. He should remain locked into fantasy lineups while he's swinging the bat well.Source: MLB.com
15 hours agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar went 2-for-3 with two walks, a homer, and two runs scored in a 5-4 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. Nootbaar kicked off the scoring for the Cardinals with a leadoff homer in the first inning. The veteran outfielder is off to a fast start in 2025, picking up six hits, including two homers, over 13 at-bats thus far. Nootbaar will look to continue the hot hitting as the calendar flips to April.Source: MLB.com
15 hours agoDetroit Tigers left-hander Brant Hurter picked up a save in a 9-6 win over the Seattle Mariners on Monday. Hurter allowed two runs on three hits over three innings while striking out two to earn the first save of his career. The veteran southpaw has now made two appearances for the Tigers in 2025, allowing three earned runs on four hits over 4 1/3 innings of work. The Detroit closer situation is in flux after they demoted 2024 closer Jason Foley to Triple-A ahead of Opening Day, but Hurter is going to have to do a better job at limiting runs if he wants to work his way into the ninth-inning committee the Tigers appear content on utilizing.Source: MLB.com
16 hours agoMiami Marlins second baseman Otto Lopez turned in a big game in a 10-4 loss to the New York Mets on Monday. Lopez went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI in the losing effort for Miami. The veteran infielder launched a solo homer off Mets starter David Peterson in the first inning, giving him two home runs through his first five games this season. Overall, Lopez has picked up eight hits and notched six RBI across 20 at-bats on the young season. He showed some speed in 2024 as he stole 20 bases in 117 games for the Marlins, which gave him some value as a fantasy asset in deeper leagues. Lopez will look to stay hot as the calendar flips to April.Source: MLB.com
16 hours agoWashington Nationals outfielder James Wood went 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk in a 5-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday. Wood launched a solo homer off Bowden Francis in the sixth inning to give him his first round-tripper of the young season. The young outfielder is off to a decent start through four games in 2025, picking up four hits including a homer and a double across 15 at-bats. Wood has elite potential as a power/speed threat in fantasy and could emerge as a top fantasy asset if he breaks out this season.Source: MLB.com
16 hours agoNew York Mets left-hander David Peterson picked up the win in a quality start over the Miami Marlins on Monday. Peterson allowed two runs on five hits over six innings while striking out nine and walking three in the win. The veteran lefty looked good in his first start of the season, allowing just a pair of solo homers while punching out nine batters after notching more than eight strikeouts just once across 21 starts in 2024. Peterson will look to keep it going in his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday at home against the Toronto Blue Jays.Source: MLB.com
16 hours agoNew York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 2-for-4 with a walk and a grand slam in a 10-4 win over the Miami Marlins on Monday. Alonso launched his first homer of the season off Cal Quantrill in the fifth inning to break the game open and give the Mets a 6-1 lead. The shot traveled 400 feet and had an exit velocity of 105.9 MPH. Alonso is off to a slow start through his first four games of the season as he came into the game with just one hit on the young season. After Monday's performance, Alonso is hitting .231 with one homer, two runs, and four RBI through 13 at-bats. He will hope Monday's performance kick-starts his bat moving forward.Source: MLB.com
