2 days agoPhiladelphia Flyers right wing Matvei Michkov tallied two assists during their 2-1 victory over the Nashville Predators on Monday evening, which extended his point streak to six games. In this contest, he tallied one secondary helper and primary, both during 5-on-5 play. During this six-game stretch, Michkov has found the back of the net four times and added seven helpers. However, Michkov has done most of the damage over his past three contests as he has scored four goals and added three assists. Through 74 total games in his rookie campaign, the former seventh overall selection has found the back of the net 24 times and added 34 helpers. He has averaged 2.4 shots on goal per game and tallied 15 of his points on the power play. He will look to stay hot on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens.Source: NHL.com
2 days agoNew Jersey Devils defenseman Luke Hughes tallied a goal and an assist during their 3-2 shootout victory over the Minnesota Wild. Hughes opened the scoring in the first period with a wrist shot. Later in the third, he would tally the secondary assist on Nico Hischier's 34th goal of the season. This outing extended his point streak to three games. Since March 1 (15 games), Hughes scored two goals and added 14 helpers, with eight of his helpers coming on the power play. During this stretch, he also logged 28 total shots on goal and added 15 blocked shots. Through 66 total games this season, the 21-year-old scored seven goals and added 34 assists. Fantasy managers should continue to start Hughes in all formats as he sees top minutes in all aspects of the game on the New Jersey blue line.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoVegas Golden Knights goaltender Ilya Samsonov (upper body) is considered day-to-day and may not be available for Tuesday's meeting with the Edmonton Oilers. The Russian netminder was a late scratch on Saturday against the Nashville Predators when he was scheduled to start. Adin Hill ended up playing for a second consecutive day, delivering a 23-save performance in a 3-1 victory. Samsonov has put in solid work as Hill's backup all season, posting a 16-9-3 record. He has picked up two shutouts while allowing 2.79 goals with a .892 save percentage. Akira Schmid has been called up from the minors to step into the lineup on Tuesday if needed.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoVegas Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl (shoulder) has been ruled out for the week. He has missed three games due to a shoulder injury and is set to sit out at least four more contests. Hertl is tied for the team lead with 31 goals and has amassed 59 points in 70 games. Nicolas Roy has moved up to the second line to replace Hertl but has not been effective, going pointless with a minus-two rating over the past three games. William Karlsson has shown off much better form and currently holds additional fantasy value as Hertl's replacement on the top power-play unit. The Swedish centerman has recorded four assists with seven shots on goal since Hertl's exit from the lineup.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoPhiladelphia Flyers right wing Garnet Hathaway (upper body) will replace Nicolas Deslauriers in the lineup on Monday against the Nashville Predators. The power forward was injured on a hit by Pittsburgh Penguins forward Bokondji Imama on Feb. 27. He has missed 15 games, though Hathaway has been practicing for over a week. Hathaway has collected 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 60 games and leads the Flyers with 218 hits. The 33-year-old will skate on the fourth line with Olle Lycksell and Rodrigo Abols.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoColorado Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson (lower body) will return to action on Monday against the Calgary Flames. The veteran blue-liner has been sidelined for three games due to a lower-body injury. Keaton Middleton has filled in for Johnson and will now exit the lineup. Johnson has picked up only a handful of points this season and should remain a free agent in fantasy leagues. Over 28 appearances with the Avalanche and Philadelphia Flyers, Johnson has recorded one goal and two assists with 48 blocks.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoPhiladelphia Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen (upper body) will likely remain on the shelf for the rest of the season. "The plan is to not have him back this season," Flyers interim head coach Brad Shaw said. "I'm not 100 percent on what the timeline looks like, but I can't imagine he would be playing in the next couple weeks." Ristolainen will be out of action for a 10th consecutive game on Monday against the Nashville Predators. He has posted 19 points (4 goals, 15 assists), 100 shots, 94 blocks, and 97 hits in 63 games this season.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoNashville Predators forward Colton Sissons (lower body) has been listed as week-to-week and is not expected to return to action this season. Nashville has been eliminated from playoff contention, so the team has no incentive to rush Sissons back after he suffered a lower-body injury on Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights. Sissons has recorded seven goals and 21 points in 72 appearances while delivering 100 hits. With Sissons and Jonathan Marchessault (lower body) unavailable for Monday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, the Predators plan to use seven defensemen. Jordan Oesterle will enter the lineup alongside Jakub Vrana.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoNashville Predators right wing Jonathan Marchessault (lower body) is considered day-to-day and will likely sit out Monday's matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers. Marchessault has had a difficult year in Nashville, posting only 49 points (19 goals, 30 assists) in 73 games, and to make matters worse, he has now sustained a lower-body injury, which will knock him out of the lineup for the first time this season. Jakub Vrana is expected to replace Marchessault in the top six on Monday. With over 100 career goals to his name, Vrana has established himself as a proven scorer in the NHL; however, he lacks the consistency needed to be a reliable fantasy asset. In 31 outings this season, Vrana has scored eight goals and recorded 12 points with 38 shots on goal.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoToronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll stopped 29 of the 31 shots he saw en route to defeating the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday evening. The Ducks dominated the shot total, but Woll was able to lead the way. The Ducks scored their first goal in the second frame on a Leo Carlsson wrist shot. In the third, Woll would allow his second goal, this time on the power play, to Sam Colangelo. This outing snapped a two-game losing skid for Woll. Woll held a 4.53 GAA with a .864 save percentage in this losing stretch. However, Woll posted a 5-1 record before this skid with a 3.00 GAA and a .904 save percentage. Fantasy managers should continue to expect Woll and Anthony Stolarz to share the Toronto crease. Stolarz will likely get the starting nod in their next game on Wednesday evening against the Florida Panthers.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoUtah Hockey Club center Alex Kerfoot tallied three points during their 5-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday. Kerfoot tallied his first point in the second frame with the primary assist on Nick DeSimone's first goal of the season. Later in the frame, Kerfoot would find the back of the net with a wrist shot. In the third, Kerfoot would score his second goal of the contest, which put the game out of reach. This outing snapped a three-game scoreless streak. In March, Kerfoot scored four goals and added three helpers over 14 games. Through 74 total contests this season, the 30-year-old has tallied 11 goals, 12 helpers with 48 hits, and 56 blocked shots. Given his low offensive output, he should only be rostered in deeper formats. He will look to stay hot on Tuesday against the Calgary Flames.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoPittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry stopped all 31 shots he faced en route to defeating the Ottawa Senators. This contest went to overtime, but Jarry was able to keep the Senators off the scoresheet all evening. Sidney Crosby would eventually break the stalemate in overtime. This was a nice bounce-back outing for Jarry as he entered Sunday riding a three-game losing streak. During this streak, he held a 0-2-1 record with a 6.21 GAA and a .780 save percentage. However, before this skid, Jarry was performing very well since he returned to the NHL at the start of the month, posting a 4-1 record with a 2.40 GAA and a .928 save percentage. Fantasy managers should expect Jarry to continue to see the majority of starts in the crease with Alex Nedeljkovic serving as the No. 2. Jarry's next start will likely come on Thursday against the St. Louis Blues.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoCarolina Hurricanes center Sebastian Aho tallied three points during their 6-4 victory over the New York Islanders on Sunday. Aho found the back of the net in the second frame on the power play. Later in that period, he would tally the primary assist on Seth Jarvis' shorthanded goal. In the third, Aho would finish his evening with another primary assist, on Seth Jarvis' second goal of the contest. In March, Aho tallied 12 points (seven goals) across 14 contests, with four of his points coming on the power play. In 72 total games this season, the 27-year-old has found the back of the net 28 times and added 41 helpers. He has done most of his damage on the power-play, tallying 21 of his total points. He will look to stay productive on Wednesday when the Hurricanes host the Capitals.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoLos Angeles Kings center Anze Kopitar tallied three helpers during their 8-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday evening. Kopitar tallied his first helper with the primary assist on Adrian Kempe's power-play goal in the opening frame. In the second, Kopitar would tally the primary helper on Trevor Moore's 16th goal of the season. Then in the final period, Kopitar would tally his third helper of the night, this time on Andrei Kuzmenko's ninth of the campaign. Over his previous six contests, Kopitar has begun to turn the corner offensively as he has scored two goals and added five helpers. Before this recent surge, he tallied just five points (two goals) over his last eight. The 37-year-old will look to stay hot on Tuesday when the Kings host the Winnipeg Jets.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoAnaheim Ducks right wing Troy Terry (undisclosed) exited Sunday's contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Terry sustained the injury in the third period. After the contest, the team did not provide an update on his status. Before exiting the contest, Terry logged just over 13 minutes of ice time and did not get on the scoresheet. He held a -1 rating and did not log a shot on goal. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next contest on Tuesday evening against the San Jose Sharks. Before Sunday's game, Terry scored just two goals and added four helpers over his last 11 contests. If the 27-year-old were to miss any time, fantasy managers should expect Brett Leason to likely re-join the starting lineup.Source: Zach Cavanagh
