Shane Baz Fans 11 In Dominant Win Monday
5 days agoTampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Shane Baz brought swing-and-miss stuff once again in Monday's 16-1 drubbing of the Red Sox. Baz pitched six innings, allowing one run on two hits (including a solo home run) and no walks with 11 strikeouts. The 25-year-old now has double-digit strikeouts in two of his three starts, culminating in a 2-0 record with a 1.42 ERA, a 12.79 K/9 rate, and a 1.89 BB/9 rate in 19 IP. His curveball has been one of his best swing-and-miss pitches, and he has thrown it nearly 15% more often in 2025 compared to 2024. He will be put to the test in his next scheduled start against the Yankees, but he has been so hot that fantasy managers may find the potential reward worth the risk of starting him.Source: MLB.com
Framber Valdez Allows 10 Hits In Monday's Loss
5 days agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez turned in his second disappointing start of the season in Monday's 8-3 loss to the Cardinals. Valdez pitched four innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits and a walk with three strikeouts. The 31-year-old has been uncharacteristically inconsistent in his first four starts of the season, allowing no combined runs in two of them and 11 combined earned runs in his other two. Overall, he is now 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA, a 9.82 K/9 rate, and a 3.27 BB/9 rate in 22 IP. Valdez's next matchup will be a tough one against the Padres. While fantasy managers may have drafted Valdez as high as their rotation ace, they may consider sitting him if they have other options, at least in roto leagues.Source: MLB.com
Nolan Arenado Collects Two Doubles, Homers Monday
5 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado continued his strong offensive start to the season in Monday's 8-3 win over the Astros. Arenado went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a solo home run, and two RBI. The 33-year-old punished a seventh-inning Luis Contreras middle-middle fastball, launching it into the left-field bullpen. Arenado seems to have left his awkward off-season with the Cardinals' front office in the past, slashing .316/.409/.526 with two HR and nine RBI in his first 66 plate appearances. His slugging percentage has been up after last season's disappointing production, although, like last season, he has not hit the ball very hard.Source: MLB.com
Austin Riley Homers Twice, Plates Five Monday
5 days agoAtlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley continued to get things going offensively in Monday's 8-4 win over the Blue Jays. Riley went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a three-run HR. The 28-year-old crushed a third-inning Easton Lucas fastball over the center-field wall to score two and obliterated a fifth-inning Lucas slider deep into the center-field seats to score three. After collecting just two hits in March, Riley has looked like his old self and is now slashing .288/.329/.530 with four HR and 11 RBI in 70 plate appearances. Hopefully, he can help drive a turnaround for a Braves' lineup that is still struggling overall.Source: MLB.com
Endy Rodriguez Removed Early On Monday
5 days agoPittsburgh Pirates catcher Endy Rodriguez (finger) was forced to exit early during Monday's game against the Washington Nationals. Rodriguez was removed after being hit in the wrist by a deflected ball. Ouch, the Pirates can't afford to lose another catcher with Joey Bart (back) injured as well. The team is calling Rodriguez day-to-day with a right index finger laceration. Henry Davis took over behind the plate on Monday and figures to see more playing time with the team shorthanded at catcher. It doesn't sound like Rodriguez or Bart will require a trip to the injured list.Source: Pittsburgh Pirates
Brenton Doyle To Miss Another Game
5 days agoColorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (quad) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Doyle will now miss his fourth game in a row due to left quad tightness. For now, Doyle is being tagged as day-to-day, but the organization should consider placing him on the injured list. Doyle reportedly experienced soreness in his quad while running on Monday. It doesn't sound like he's healthy enough to get back on the field yet. Fantasy managers should continue to hold Doyle who is hitting .321 with three homers and 12 RBI this season. Mickey Moniak will cover center field and bat sixth versus right-hander Dustin May on Monday.Source: Andres Soto
Kris Bryant Heading To Injured List
5 days agoColorado Rockies third baseman Kris Bryant (back) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday, retroactive to April 13. Rockies manager Bud Black said he expects Bryant to only require the minimum stint on the injured list. Bryant is dealing with lumbar degenerative disc disease, which does sound serious. The organization believes it's something he'll need to manage, but he can continue his playing career. Bryant has been a non-factor in terms of fantasy baseball since signing with the Rockies in 2022. He can remain on the waiver wire in basically all fantasy formats, but hopefully Bryant can resume playing at some point this season. The expectation is Kyle Farmer will see more playing time with Bryant sidelined.Source: Thomas Harding
Teoscar Hernandez Absent From Monday's Lineup
5 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (illness) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Colorado Rockies. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Hernandez is currently day-to-day with a stomach bug. This doesn't sound like something that is going to force Hernandez to be placed on the injured list. In his absence, Andy Pages will cover right field while Tommy Edman takes over in center field versus right-hander Antonio Senzatela. Fantasy managers should continue to hold Hernandez who is slashing .281/.309/.563 with seven home runs and 16 RBI this season.Source: Sonja Chen
Carson Kelly Sitting Out On Monday
5 days agoChicago Cubs catcher Carson Kelly (wrist) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the San Diego Padres. Kelly was hit on the wrist by a pitch during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was forced to exit the contest and undergo X-rays to determine the severity of the injury. It appears Kelly has avoided any major injuries to his wrist. For now, Wrist should be considered as day-to-day, but he could land on the injured list if he doesn't get better in a few days. Miguel Amaya will do the catching and bat eighth versus right-hander Dylan Cease on Monday.Source: mlb.com
Seiya Suzuki Remains Out On Monday
5 days agoChicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki (wrist) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the San Diego Padres. Suzuki is set to miss his second game in a row due to a right wrist issue that he suffered during Saturday's contest. For now, Suzuki should be considered as day-to-day, but it wouldn't be shocking if he ends up on the injured list. Justin Turner will serve as the designated hitter and bat third against right-hander Dylan Cease on Monday. Turner hasn't done enough with the bat this season to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats.Source: mlb.com
Cory Joseph Available For Play-In Game
5 days agoOrlando Magic point guard Cory Joseph (knee) will be back in action on Tuesday against the Atlanta Hawks. The veteran guard missed Sunday's regular-season finale against the Hawks due to a knee issue, but he is not on the injury report for Tuesday's play-in game. Joseph finished the regular season as Orlando's starting point guard and figures to continue in the role during the postseason. Across 16 starts in 2024-25, Joseph has averaged 6.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 22.5 minutes.Source: NBA Injury Report
Franz Wagner Expected To Return Tuesday
5 days agoOrlando Magic forward Franz Wagner (knee) is set to rejoin the lineup on Tuesday against the Atlanta Hawks. The German star has been dealing with a knee issue lately and missed Orlando's final two regular-season games. However, the team has not listed Wagner on the injury report ahead of Tuesday's matchup. Wagner has scored 20-plus points in each of his last 12 appearances, and the Hawks are well aware of the threat he poses for teams. In three regular-season meetings with Atlanta this season, Wagner averaged 28.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.3 steals.Source: NBA Injury Report
Paolo Banchero On Track To Return Tuesday
5 days agoOrlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero (ankle) is expected to return to the lineup for Tuesday's play-in game against the Atlanta Hawks. Orlando's rising star missed the final two regular-season games while dealing with an ankle injury. However, he appears to be fully healed now, as the team has not included Banchero's name on the injury report. Banchero caused the Hawks all sorts of trouble during the regular season, averaging 33.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in the matchup. He recorded a double-double in two of his three appearances against them.Source: NBA Injury Report
Georges Niang Off The Injury Report
5 days agoAtlanta Hawks forward Georges Niang (rest) is off the injury report and ready to play on Tuesday against the Orlando Magic. The Hawks rested Niang on Sunday against the Magic but will bring him back into the lineup for the crucial play-in game. After landing in Atlanta from the Cleveland Cavaliers in February, Niang has carved out a solid role for himself in the rotation, posting 12.1 points with 41.3 percent shooting from downtown. Additionally, he has recorded 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game in 23.0 minutes. However, Niang has notched only 8.0 points in 21.8 minutes against Orlando's tough defense this season.Source: NBA Injury Report
Caris LeVert Available Tuesday
5 days agoAtlanta Hawks guard/forward Caris LeVert (knee) is set to rejoin the lineup on Tuesday against the Orlando Magic, as the team has not listed him on the injury report. LeVert did not play on Sunday against Orlando due to managing a knee injury. Since moving to Atlanta in February, LeVert has provided valuable secondary scoring off the bench for the Hawks, averaging 14.9 points in 26.6 minutes. He has also helped out on the boards, grabbing 3.7 rebounds, while occasionally serving as a playmaker with 2.9 assists delivered. Orlando allows the third-fewest bench points in the league, so it will be a challenge for LeVert to maintain his production on Tuesday night.Source: NBA Injury Report
Onyeka Okongwu Ready To Face Magic Tuesday
5 days agoAtlanta Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu (rest) will return to the lineup for Tuesday's play-in game against the Orlando Magic. When Atlanta concluded its regular-season schedule on Sunday against the Magic, Okongwu was kept off the floor for rest purposes. However, his name has not been included on the injury report for Tuesday's game. Okongwu enjoyed a big finish to the regular season and will have a massive role to play again on Tuesday, with Clint Capela (hand) remaining on the sidelines. Over three prior meetings with the Magic this season, Okongwu has averaged 16.7 points and 9.3 rebounds.Source: NBA Injury Report
Dyson Daniels Good To Go Tuesday
5 days agoAtlanta Hawks guard/forward Dyson Daniels (rest) is not listed on the injury report ahead of Tuesday's play-in game against the Orlando Magic. The defensive specialist is ready to rejoin the action after resting on Sunday against Orlando. Daniels missed only six games during the regular season, which helped him rack up a historic amount of steals. The 22-year-old capped off the campaign with 229 steals, the most a player has had in the NBA in the 21st century. Daniels averaged 3.0 steals per game while notching 14.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. He is set to play a crucial role in Atlanta's quest to get back into the playoffs.Source: NBA Injury Report
Clint Capela To Remain Out Tuesday
5 days agoAtlanta Hawks center Clint Capela (hand) will miss his 18th consecutive game on Tuesday against the Orlando Magic. The Swiss big man is still recovering from a hand injury that kept him out for the final month of the regular season. When Capela was diagnosed with a ligament injury in the fourth metacarpal of his left hand, Atlanta announced that he would be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks. However, there have been no further updates. The Hawks will continue to rely on Onyeka Okongwu under the rim on Tuesday, with Dominick Barlow and Mouhamed Gueye providing backup.Source: NBA Injury Report
Trae Young Probable For Tuesday's Play-In Game
5 days agoAtlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young (Achilles) is likely to play in Tuesday's play-in contest against the Orlando Magic, as he is listed as probable on the injury report. Young's name has been on the injury report for the entire campaign, but he ended up missing only six regular-season games. His last absence came on Sunday against the Magic for rest purposes. In previous years, Young has played in four play-in games, averaging 27.3 points and 9.3 assists. However, shooting has always been an issue for him in these high-pressure situations, as the Hawks leader has converted only 26.5 percent of his shots from three-point range.Source: NBA Injury Report
Luis Gonzalez Designated For Assignment
5 days agoThe Baltimore Orioles designated left-handed pitcher Luis Gonzalez for assignment. In a corresponding move, the Orioles claimed right-handed Scott Blewett off waivers from the Minnesota Twins. Gonzalez logged four 2/3 innings with Triple-A Norfolk during the early part of the campaign. Across this brief stint, Gonzalez allowed six hits and three earned runs. He held a 4:4 BB:K. Gonzalez has yet to reach the major leagues. Last summer, the 33-year-old spent his entire season with the Norfolk Tides. He held a modest 4.50 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP across 60 innings of work. He flashed decent strikeout potential as he struck out 71 batters over this stint. Fantasy managers should expect Gonzalez to return to Norfolk if he does not draw interest on waivers.Source: Matt Weyrich
Brady Tkachuk To Be Ready For Start Of Playoffs
5 days agoOttawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk (upper body) will be good to go for the start of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, head coach Travis Green confirmed on Monday. The Senators captain has missed seven games since sustaining an upper-body injury from a hit by Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Ryan Graves on March 30. On Monday, Tkachuk practiced with the team for the first time since getting hurt. He wore a non-contact jersey and took line rushes alongside Tim Stutzle and Fabian Zetterlund. Ottawa has already ruled Tkachuk out for Tuesday's contest against the Chicago Blackhawks. It also would not be surprising if Tkachuk sat out Thursday's regular-season finale against the Carolina Hurricanes.Source: NHL.com
Eric Orze Promoted, Joe Boyle Optioned
5 days agoThe Tampa Bay Rays have promoted right-handed pitcher Eric Orze from Triple-A Durham on Monday. In a corresponding move, the Rays optioned right-handed pitcher Joe Boyle to Triple-A. Orze has been effective in the Durham bullpen and has been rewarded with a promotion. Through six innings of work, Orze allowed just one run and struck out nine batters without allowing a free pass. Last summer, Orze received a brief taste of the majors and allowed four runs across one 2/3 innings of work. Boyle was given a spot-start on Sunday afternoon against the Atlanta Braves and looked sharp as he tossed five innings of two-run ball (zero earned runs). He struck out seven batters. Fantasy managers should expect Orze to be deployed primarily in a middle-relief role out of the bullpen.Source: Ryan Bass
Drew Doughty Available Against Oilers
5 days agoLos Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty (ankle) will play in Monday's contest against the Edmonton Oilers. The veteran blue-liner has taken some time off due to an ankle injury, missing three games. Even while managing his ankle issue, Doughty has remained a workhorse in 2024-25, averaging 24:18 of ice time. He has notched 17 points (four goals, 13 assists) in 28 games while blocking 43 shots. Kyle Burroughs is projected to be a healthy scratch on Monday, while Brandt Clarke will move down from the first defensive pairing to the third.Source: NHL.com
Zebby Matthews Not Expected To Join Rotation This Week
5 days agoMinnesota Twins right-handed pitcher Zebby Matthews is not expected to join the major league rotation this week. According to Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic, the Twins are expected to continue to deploy a five-man rotation for the time being, even with Pablo Lopez (hamstring) on the 15-day injured list. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression with Triple-A St. Paul, as he should be in the mix for an early return to the big leagues in the coming weeks. Last summer, Matthews received a brief taste of the majors as he logged 37 2/3 innings to the tune of a 6.79 ERA with a 1.65 WHIP. However, the Western Carolina product has begun taking the next steps forward at Triple-A this season, as he has held a 1.80 ERA, 0.60 WHIP, and a 1:13 BB:K across 10 innings. He remains a high upside stash in all standard formats.Source: Aaron Gleeman
Mason Marchment Won't Play Against Red Wings
5 days agoDallas Stars left wing Mason Marchment (illness) will remain out on Monday against the Detroit Red Wings. He exited the lineup for Saturday's matchup against the Utah Hockey Club due to an illness and is taking additional time to recover on Monday. Marchment has been hot over the final stretch of the regular season, setting high standards for the playoffs. He has amassed 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in his last 15 appearances. For the season, Marchment has totaled 21 goals and 46 points in 61 games. Marchment's absence has allowed Evgenii Dadonov to grab a second-line spot.Source: Bruce LeVine
Jesus Made Returns From Ankle Injury
5 days agoMilwaukee Brewers infield prospect Jesus Made (ankle) has returned to action following his minor ankle injury. The shortstop suffered this injury during the first week of April but was able to return to the starting lineup at Low-A Carolina over the weekend. After going 0-for-8 during his first two games of the regular season, Made has begun to turn the corner, going 4-for-16 with two doubles and one home run. He tallied three RBI, scored four runs, swiped a bag, and held a 3:5 BB:K. The 17-year-old joined the Milwaukee organization last summer and spent time in the Dominican Summer League. Across 51 contests, Made posted a .331/.458/.554 slash line with nine doubles and six home runs. Made is currently ranked as the No. 53 prospect in the sport on MLB.com and could continue to rise as he progresses through the lower levels of the minor leagues.Source: MiLB.com
Esa Lindell Misses Another Game Monday
5 days agoDallas Stars defenseman Esa Lindell (rest) will not be in the lineup on Monday against the Detroit Red Wings. He will sit out a second consecutive game for rest purposes. Dallas is set to begin the playoffs without Miro Heiskanen (knee) and will need Lindell and Thomas Harley (rest) to be as fresh as possible, so the two are getting some time off near the end of the regular season. Lindell leads the team with 170 blocks and has contributed five goals and 21 assists in 79 games. In the absence of Lindell and Harley, Alexander Petrovic and Brendan Smith have joined the lineup.Source: Bruce LeVine
Jack Leiter Could Make Rehab Start This Week
5 days agoTexas Rangers pitching prospect Jack Leiter (finger) could make a rehab appearance with Triple-A Round Rock on either Wednesday or Thursday. Leiter threw a 35-pitch bullpen session on Sunday and appears to be nearing his return to game action. The former second overall pick was placed on the 15-day injured list following his start on April 2 due to a blister. Leiter was able to win a spot in the starting rotation out of spring training and performed quite well during his first two starts, posting a stellar 0.90 ERA with a 0.70 WHIP across 10 innings of work. He struck out 10 batters and served up just one free pass with six hits. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to his status during his rehab outing, as he could be cleared to return to the big leagues next week. He should be started in all formats when he returns, given his strong start to the season.Source: MLB.com
Thomas Harley Sits Out Second Consecutive Game
5 days agoDallas Stars defenseman Thomas Harley (rest) will remain out of the lineup on Monday against the Detroit Red Wings. He will be rested for a second consecutive game. Harley has taken on a significant workload in the Stars defense due to Miro Heiskanen's (knee) unavailability and is now receiving much-needed time off before the postseason. Heiskanen has been ruled out for the first game of the playoffs, so Harley must also be ready to eat up major minutes when postseason action starts. The 23-year-old has posted a career-high 50 points (16 goals, 34) in 77 games this season while registering 169 shots and 109 blocks. Esa Lindell (rest) will also remain out on Monday, giving Brendan Smith and Alexander Petrovic a chance to play, with Matt Dumba and Ilya Lyubushkin operating as the top defensive duo.Source: Bruce LeVine
Quinn Mathews Placed On Triple-A Injured List
5 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitching prospect Quinn Mathews (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list on Monday afternoon. The team did not provide a reason why the budding southpaw hit the injured list. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status. Last summer, Mathews enjoyed an impressive campaign in the minor leagues as he began the season with Low-A and was able to finish the campaign with Triple-A. Across 126 1/3 innings in Low-A through Double-A, Mathews held a stellar 2.27 ERA with a 0.85 WHIP. During his first look at Triple-A, he allowed 12 runs across 16 innings. During the start of the 2025 campaign, Mathews showed similar struggles at Triple-A, posting a 6.10 ERA with a 2.57 WHIP across 10 1/3 innings. This injury will likely keep Mathews in the minor leagues through most of the first half of the campaign.Source: MiLB.com
