Logan Evans Named Pacific Coast League Pitcher Of The Week
4 days agoSeattle Mariners pitching prospect Logan Evans was named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week. He enjoyed an impressive outing on April 9 when he shut down the Sacramento River Cats. He tossed six innings of one-run ball. He allowed just two hits, with no walks, and struck out seven. This was a much-needed bounce-back outing for Evans as he allowed five runs and eight hits across five innings of work in his previous start. Last summer, the 23-year-old spent his entire campaign with Double-A Arkansas and held a 3.20 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP across 107 innings of work. He struck out 98 batters and served up 42 free passes. Fantasy managers should contribute to monitoring the Pittsburgh product's development at Triple-A, as he could be in the mix for a second-half MLB debut.Source: MiLB.com
Kristian Campbell Hits Home Run No. 3
4 days agoBoston Red Sox infield prospect Kristian Campbell went 2-for-3 with a home run during their loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday evening. Campbell would score Boston's lone run in this contest on a solo shot in the third frame. Campbell would go deep against Tampa Bay right-hander Shane Baz. Campbell has enjoyed an impressive start to his MLB career. He has reached base safely in each of his first 17 contests. Across this stint, the Georgia Tech product has posted a stellar .328/.420/.552 slash line with four doubles, three long balls, and one stolen base. He has shown a strong eye at the plate, holding a 10:16 BB:K. Boston has typically deployed Campbell at the keystone but has also given him five starts in the outfield. He will look to stay hot at the plate on Tuesday, facing Ryan Pepiot.Source: MLB.com

Junior Caminero Goes Deep In Third Straight Contest
4 days agoTampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero went 2-for-5 with a home run during their demanding 16-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Monday evening. This was the budding star's third-straight game hitting a long ball. During this impressive power surge, Caminero has tallied six RBI and held a .417/.462/1.167 slash line. Before the surge, Caminero held a modest .256/.283/.372 line over the first 12 games of the campaign. Under the hood, he has generated an impressive .488 xSLG with a stellar 78.8 mph bat speed, which suggests his power numbers should continue to climb. He remains a must-start option in all formats going forward.Source: MLB.com

Throughout the fight, Lopes scored a lot of big shots and even managed to knock Volkanovski down with a few seconds left in the second round, but Lopes ultimately came up short on the scorecards with the judges scoring the fight 49-46, 49-46 and 48-47 in favor of Volkanovski. Michael Chandler Suffers TKO Loss
4 days agoFormer title challenger Michael Chandler suffered a third-round TKO loss to Paddy Pimblett in the co-main event of UFC 314 on Saturday. Chandler didn't have much to offer Pimblett as he was dominated and brutalized up until the finishing sequence. The loss marked a third consecutive defeat for Chandler, who hasn't won since a 2022 knockout of former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson. The defining moment came in the third round when Chandler got hit with a devastating knee, opening a significant cut below his left eye. Seizing the opportunity, Pimblett secured a takedown and finished Chandler with punches and elbows from the full mount. In 13:07 of action, Chandler landed four takedowns and 11 significant strikes. 4 days agoChicago Blackhawks rookie center Frank Nazar tallied two points during their 4-3 shootout victory over the Montreal Canadiens. This was Nazar's second-straight game tallying two points. In the opening frame, Nazar tallied the primary assist on Tyler Bertuzzi's power-play goal. Later in the second, Nazar would find the back of the net himself, also on the power play. Since the start of the month, Nazar has played a key role in the Chicago offense as he has scored four goals and added four helpers over seven contests. During this stretch, Nazar tallied three of his points on the power play. Before April, Nazar tallied just three points (all goals) during all of March. Given his recent offensive surge, he remains a viable option in DFS during their final game of the season, against the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday evening.Source: NHL.com

Miller would find the back of the net in the second frame during 5-on-5 play. Later in the third, Miller would tally the primary assist on Vincent Trocheck's game-winning shorthanded goal. Over his last 11 contests, Miller has been quite effective on the scoresheet, scoring six goals and adding 10 helpers. Before this surge, he tallied just three points (all helpers) over his last seven games. The Rangers acquired Miller on January 31 from the Vancouver Canucks. He has consistently seen top-six minutes in the New York offense and has enjoyed a strong conclusion to the season. He remains a solid option in DFS in their final game against Tampa Bay on Thursday evening.Source: NHL.com

The submission loss drops Mitchell to 2-3 in his past five fights. With the loss, Mitchell dropped to 17-3 as a pro and is now 8-3 in the UFC.Source: UFC

In the second frame, Keller would tally two helpers, the primary assist on Logan Cooley's goal and the secondary assist on Nick Schmaltz's power-play goal. In the final frame, Keller would tally his other two points. Keller would find the back of the net twice in this frame, including the empty-netter, which put the game out of reach. Over his last eight games, Keller has enjoyed a nice offensive surge, as he has found the back of the net five times and added six helpers. Before this surge, Keller tallied just four points (one goal) over his last eight contests. Through 80 games this season, Keller has set a career-high mark in points (89) and is just one goal away from hitting the 30-goal mark for three straight seasons.Source: NHL.com

Quinton Byfield Exits Early On Monday
4 days agoLos Angeles Kings center Quinton Byfield (upper body) exited Monday's contest early due to an upper-body injury. The team did not provide an update on his status after the contest. However, fantasy managers should expect the team to monitor Byfield's workload heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, as they have already clinched the No. 2 seed in the Pacific Division. Before exiting the game, Byfield would score his 23rd goal of the campaign on the power-play in just over 14 minutes of ice time. This was his fourth-straight game finding the back of the net. Over his last eight games, Byfield has tallied 10 points, with four of them coming on the power play. If cleared to return in the playoffs, he would be viewed as a strong play in DFS competitions.Source: Los Angeles Kings

He remains a strong play in DFS heading into the postseason, playing on the top forward unit.Source: NHL.com

Tanner Scott Locks Down Rockies For Fifth Save
4 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tanner Scott pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save in a 5-3 win over the Colorado Rockies on Monday. Scott allowed a pair of hits and struck out one in his inning of work. The lefty now has a 3.00 ERA and 0.89 WHIP and has gone 5-for-6 in his save opportunities. He appears to be the clear favorite for saves in LA, although Dave Roberts tends to change his bullpen usage more than other managers. Still, on a dominant LA team, Scott could be near the top of the league in saves this season if he can stay healthy and continue pitching well.Source: MLB.com
Dustin May Turns In Quality Start
4 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Dustin May continued his strong start to the season on Monday, tossing six innings of one-run ball against the Colorado Rockies in a 5-3 win. May allowed just three hits and perhaps more importantly walked zero while striking out seven. The 27-year-old has been solid so far this year, but he did walk three in each of his first two starts, so his improved control in this one was good to see. After an injury-plagued 2024, the Dodgers will likely limit May's pitch counts, which limits his fantasy value. He should still be rostered in most leagues, as he has a good chance to help with ratios and could pick up some wins if he can be efficient with his pitches.Source: MLB.com
Grant Holmes Pitches Into Eighth Inning In Quality Start
4 days agoAtlanta Braves right-handed pitcher Grant Holmes picked up his first win of the season on Monday, pitching 7 ⅔ innings of three-run ball in a 9-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. Holmes allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out four in this one. It was the first time this season that Holmes went even five innings, and after back-to-back starts with four walks, he showcased much-improved control. The 29-year-old has shown flashes of ability in the past, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him emerge as a decent fantasy option. For now, however, he remains just a streamer and deep-league option.Source: MLB.com
Sonny Gray Shuts Down Astros On Monday
4 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Sonny Gray dominated the Houston Astros on Monday, hurling seven shutout frames in an 8-3 victory. Gray allowed just three hits and a walk while punching out four, earning his third win of the season in the process. Gray moves to 3-0 with a 3.13 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts in 23 IP after this one. When the righty is on his game, he can be one of the better pitchers in the league, and he is proving that again early in the season. Gray is absolutely a must-start option in fantasy right now, but could be considered a sell-high given his inconsistencies and injury history.Source: MLB.com
Tarik Skubal Dominates Brewers Monday
4 days agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal delivered a stellar performance on Monday, tossing seven shutout innings in a 9-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. Skubal allowed just four hits, issued no walks, and struck out nine in this one. He didn't allow his first hit until the fifth inning, and the Brewers really didn't stand a chance all night. The reigning Cy Young winner now has a 2.66 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 23 ⅔ IP as he continues to be one of the games best pitchers. He is arguably the most valuable pitcher in fantasy.Source: MLB.com
Mookie Betts Hitting Well To Start Season
4 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts delivered a solid overall performance on Monday, going 2-for-4 with a homer, a double, two runs scored, and two RBI. Betts hit a two-run homer in the first inning to set the tone for the Dodgers. The 32-year-old has been his usual self so far this season, hitting .304 with a .954 OPS and four homers. The only downside so far has been his lack of speed, with only one stolen base to his name. He should continue to be an elite contributor in fantasy, and it helps that he is hitting in one of the best lineups in baseball.Source: MLB.com
Fernando Tatis Jr. Keeps Mashing On Monday
4 days agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. delivered a standout performance on Monday, going 3-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored, and three RBI in a 10–4 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Tatis launched a solo shot in the third inning and followed up with a two-run homer in the eighth as he continued to torch the ball early in the season. This performance elevated Tatis' season stats to a .361 average, six home runs, 16 runs scored, 12 RBI, and six stolen bases. Tatis is a five-category stud, and with the way he is playing right now, he could end up being one of the best players for fantasy this season.Source: MLB.com
Devin Williams Notches Second Save Of Season Monday
5 days agoNew York Yankees closer Devin Williams picked up his second save of the season in Monday's 4-1 win over the Royals. Williams came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by three. He allowed a leadoff single to Bobby Witt Jr., got the first out on a pop-out, allowed a walk, and got the final two outs on another pop-out and a line-out. Things have not gone smoothly for the 30-year-old in his first season with his new team, as he has converted both of his save opportunities but has a 7.20 ERA, seven strikeouts, and six walks in just five innings of work. Williams has been one of fantasy's most reliable relief pitchers throughout his career and was traded for to fill a closing void for the Yankees, so fantasy managers should remain patient with him early on.Source: MLB.com
Tyler Fitzgerald Falls Single Shy Of Cycle Monday
5 days agoSan Francisco Giants second baseman Tyler Fitzgerald got the hard parts done but could not hit for the cycle in Monday's 10-4 win over the Phillies. Fitzgerald went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, a three-run home run, and a strikeout. The 27-year-old took a second-inning Taijuan Walker cutter over the left-field wall for his first long ball of the season. Fitzgerald has continued to flash the power-speed combo that garnered fantasy attention in 2024, slashing .286/.333/.476 with four RBI and four stolen bases in 47 plate appearances. He has also cut down on the strikeouts, posting a 21.3% strikeout rate after striking out at a poor 31.7% clip in 2024. He has hit at the bottom of the lineup, but the Giants have gotten off to a hot start, helping boost Fitzgerald's fantasy appeal in at least all roto leagues.Source: MLB.com
Kameron Misner Collects Three Hits, Homers Twice Monday
5 days agoTampa Bay Rays outfielder Kameron Misner got in on the action in Monday's 16-1 win over the Red Sox. Misner went 3-for-4 with a single, a solo home run, a two-run HR, and a walk. The 27-year-old drove a second-inning Tanner Houck breaking pitch over the left-center wall to score two and finished the scoring parade in the eighth inning, taking a Brennan Bernardino breaking pitch just over the right-field wall. Misner came into the season with no fantasy hype but has produced at a high level early on, slashing .400/.444/.775 with three HR, nine RBI, and a stolen base in 45 plate appearances. He has never produced extraordinary minor-league numbers, but fantasy managers could potentially turn to him as a spark plug for their lineups in the short term.Source: MLB.com
