3 weeks agoDallas Stars center Roope Hintz (undisclosed) will be welcomed back into the lineup for Friday's big battle against Colorado. He was forced to miss his first game of the season Wednesday night against Chicago due to an undisclosed ailment. Hintz will jump back on the top line and will work with the first power-play unit. The Stars haven't seen the best of Hintz this season, as the Finnish forward has settled for 13 points (eight goals, five assists) in 20 games. He has posted four goals and five points in 11 November outings.Source: NHL.com
3 weeks agoColorado Avalanche defenseman Oliver Kylington (undisclosed) will not play in Friday's matchup against Dallas. The 27-year-old blue-liner suffered an undisclosed injury in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over Vegas. Kylington has only had a minuscule role on the Avalanche team, averaging 12:10 of ice time in eight appearances. He's recorded one goal and one assist with two shots, six blocks, and two hits. Calvin de Haan is projected to take Kylington's spot on the third defensive pairing for Friday's game.Source: NHL.com
3 weeks agoVegas Golden Knights left wing Victor Olofsson (lower body) will not play on Friday against Winnipeg. Olofsson has just been recalled from a conditioning stint in the AHL, but Vegas won't insert him back into the lineup versus the league-leading Jets. Olofsson has missed 19 games, with his last appearance for the Golden Knights coming on Oct. 15. He had an impressive start to the year with three goals in four games. Olofsson's next chance to return comes on Saturday as Vegas finishes a back-to-back set against Utah.Source: NHL.com
3 weeks agoToronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews (upper body) will return to the lineup on Saturday versus Tampa Bay. The three-time Rocket Richard Trophy winner has been out for nine games but feels now ready to return. "In my mind, I'm playing tomorrow and I'm excited to be back," Matthews said. "I didn't forget how to play hockey over the last three weeks but obviously there's going to be a little bit of rust and a little bit of excitement to be back and playing again." Matthews, who sits on five goals and six assists with 13 games played, is expected to team up with Matthew Knies and William Nylander on the top line Saturday.Source: NHL.com
3 weeks agoPittsburgh Penguins defenseman Owen Pickering (illness) missed Thursday's practice and is questionable for Friday's game against Boston. The 20-year-old, who recently made his NHL debut, is battling an illness and might be absent for a second consecutive game. Before exiting the lineup Wednesday versus Vancouver, Pickering had skated in four consecutive games. He hasn't contributed a lot in his first few career outings, recording one assist, two shots, two blocks, and one hit. With Ryan Graves scratched for Wednesday's game, Ryan Shea and Jack St. Ivany rejoined the lineup. The two look set to continue on the third defensive pairing if Pickering doesn't feel well enough to play.Source: Michelle Crechiolo
3 weeks agoUtah Hockey Club goaltender Connor Ingram (upper body) will not return to action this week. He's sat out four games and won't be available for the team's back-to-back set, which starts on Friday versus Edmonton. Karel Vejmelka will pick up another start against the Oilers, while Jaxson Stauber might get a look in Saturday's matchup versus Vegas. Vejmelka has gone 2-2-0 during Ingram's absence, allowing only seven goals. He has a 3-6-0 record for the season and boasts a strong 2.25 goals-against average with a .922 save percentage. The Czech netminder has been in impressive form lately but faces an improving Oilers offense, which has scored three-plus goals in seven of the past eight games.Source: Belle Fraser
3 weeks agoColorado Avalanche left wing Miles Wood (upper body) was placed on Injured Reserve Thursday. The 29-year-old exits the lineup just six games after recovering from an upper-body injury. Wood has flirted with the 30-point plateau in recent campaigns but is well off the pace to get there in 2024-25, sitting on three points (two goals, one assist) in 16 appearances. In a corresponding move, the Avalanche have brought Chris Wagner back up from the AHL. Wagner has averaged barely over seven minutes a night in the NHL this season, scoring one goal in 12 games.Source: Colorado Avalanche
3 weeks agoSan Jose Sharks forward Mikael Granlund (upper body) is regarded as a game-time decision for Friday's tilt against Seattle. After missing two games with an upper-body injury, Granlund returned to practice on Thursday. It's a positive sign regarding his potential availability, but the team hasn't made his return official yet. The Sharks have scored 10 goals in two games without Granlund, but they would definitely love to have him back in the mix. The Finnish veteran is enjoying somewhat of a renaissance with the team and leads San Jose with 24 points (nine goals, 15 assists) in 23 outings this campaign.Source: Curtis Pashelka
3 weeks agoSan Jose Sharks center Barclay Goodrow (upper body) has been placed on Injured Reserve. He's set to miss his first action of the season after suffering an upper-body injury in Wednesday's game against Ottawa. Goodrow has been a disappointment this season, providing only two goals in 25 games on the offensive end. However, San Jose will miss his physical presence, as Goodrow averages nearly two hits per game. Ethan Cardwell has been called up from the minors to take Goodrow's spot on the roster. The 22-year-old boasts seven points (one goal, six assists) in 13 AHL appearances this season.Source: San Jose Sharks PR
3 weeks agoVancouver Canucks defenseman Filip Hronek (upper body) is expected to miss time. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the 27-year-old will be out for "a while." Hronek was hurt late in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to Pittsburgh when he crashed shoulder-first into the boards after a hit by Penguins defenceman Jack St. Ivany. The Canucks have seen Hronek's offensive numbers decline this season, but he will still be a big miss. The Czech rearguard works on the first defensive pairing, averaging 23:38 of ice time. He has totaled nine points (one goal, eight assists) in 21 games with 24 shots, 21 blocks, and 36 hits. Hronek also carries by far the team's best plus/minus with plus-14. Vincent Desharnais is expected to step into the lineup as Hronek's replacement on Friday versus Buffalo.Source: Elliotte Friedman
3 weeks agoTampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point bagged his fifth career hat trick in very strange circumstances in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to Washington. After he had bagged two goals in the first period, Point was credited with a third goal in the final frame when Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren put the puck into his own net on a failed clearance attempt. It's the first time on record (since 2009-10) that a hat trick has been completed via an own goal in the NHL. The goal gave Tampa Bay a 4-3 lead, but luckily for Lindgren, the Capitals were able to turn things around inside the final 10 minutes of play. Point has been hot in front of the net all year, potting 15 goals in 17 games, which puts him tied for third in the league. He has also picked up five assists.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoMinnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson bounced back from two consecutive defeats with a shutout performance on Wednesday versus Buffalo, stopping 39 pucks in a 1-0 road win. The Wild No. 1 became the 10th netminder in the league with multiple shutouts this campaign. Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck sits at the top of the pile with three. Only Hellebuyck and Dallas' Jake Oettinger boast more wins than Gustavsson. The 26-year-old Swede has gone 10-4-3 for the campaign, allowing 2.06 goals with a .929 save percentage. Gustavsson has developed into one of the best goalies in the league and should start for fantasy managers each night.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoChicago Blackhawks left wing Taylor Hall regained his MVP form for one night as he netted his fifth career hat trick in Wednesday's 6-2 win over Dallas. Hall started the damage just 17 seconds into the game and already had two goals inside six minutes. He hadn't scored three goals in a single game since 2013. The 2018 Hart Trophy winner has had a difficult time in recent years, and his production has been lacking in 2024-25 as well, even leading to Hall sitting as a healthy scratch. He's on nine points (five goals, four assists) in 21 games and belongs on the waiver wire in most fantasy leagues.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoSt. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington was outstanding with a 31-save performance in Wednesday's 3-0 win over New Jersey, becoming the team's all-time leader in wins. Making a 290th start for the Blues, Binnington grabbed his 152th win, surpassing Mike Liut, who currently works as Binnington's agent. The 31-year-old did so with his 16th shutout for the club, his first this season. Binnington has had his fair share of struggles in the Blues crease, but taking over the franchise record for wins is no mean feat. 2024-25 has been another inconsistent campaign for the Blues No. 1, as Binnington has gone 7-9-1 with a 2.86 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoAnaheim Ducks center Leo Carlsson (upper body) is considered day-to-day by the team. The 19-year-old talent was hurt on Monday versus Seattle and didn't play in Wednesday's rematch between the two teams. Mason McTavish replaced Carlsson on the first line, bagging an assist on a Trevor Zegras goal late in a 5-2 win. McTavish will have additional fantasy value until Carlsson can make it back into the lineup. The Ducks return to action on Friday afternoon against the Los Angeles Kings.Source: Anaheim Ducks
