21 seconds agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton turned in an excellent game in a 6-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. Buxton went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, two runs, and two RBI to help power the Twins to their second win of the season. His homer was a first-inning solo shot off Chicago starter Sean Burke, a blast that traveled 444 feet with an exit velocity of 111.7 MPH. Buxton had been off to a slow start before Wednesday as he came into the game with just two hits in 17 at-bats. He will look to keep it going as the Twins open up a four-game series against the Houston Astros on Thursday.Source: MLB.com
6 mins agoChicago Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner turned in a productive outing in a 10-2 win over the Athletics on Wednesday. Hoerner went 1-for-4 with two runs, an RBI, a walk, and two steals to help propel Chicago to the win. The veteran infielder is off to a fast start in 2025, picking up eight hits, three RBI, and three steals through his first 24 at-bats. Hoerner doesn't hit for much power but he has shown to be an excellent source of stolen bases in fantasy with 97 steals since the start of the 2022 season. He will look to stay hot moving forward.Source: MLB.com
13 mins agoPittsburgh Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz went 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI, and a steal in a 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday. Cruz launched a solo shot off Tampa starter Ryan Pepiot in the fifth inning, giving him his second homer of the season. He later came back and added another RBI on a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning. Cruz is now hitting .261 with two homers, four runs, four RBI, and six steals across 23 at-bats in the early going as he looks to build on his first 20/20 season in 2024.Source: MLB.com
18 mins agoSeattle Mariners third baseman Dylan Moore turned in a solid game in a 3-2 win over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday. Moore went 1-for-1 with a homer, two runs, two walks, and a steal in the close win over Detroit. The veteran launched his first homer of the season off 2024 Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal in the fourth inning in what would be the Mariners' final run of the game. Moore is off to a fast start in 2025, picking up three hits and three walks across five contests for a .375 batting average. This was Moore's first steal of the season after he swiped 32 bags for the Mariners last year. He will look to stay hot going forward.Source: MLB.com
23 mins agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Luis Arraez went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, two runs, and a stolen base in a 5-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday. Arraez gave the Padres an insurance run with his solo shot off Tim Herrin in the seventh inning. The veteran infielder had been off to a slow start in 2025 with just two hits in 23 at-bats coming into the game. Arraez is not known for his home-run stroke as he hit just four homers in 637 at-bats during the 2024 season, so fantasy managers shouldn't start him expecting him to carry them in the power department despite his performance on Wednesday. He will hope his big game turns around his early-season fortune moving forward.Source: MLB.com
5 hours agoLos Angeles Dodgers outfielder Michael Conforto went 2-for-2 with a homer, two walks, an RBI, and three runs scored on Wednesday in a 6-5 win over the Braves. This was his first home run and first multi-hit game of the season, and he is now slashing .368/.500/.737 through 24 plate appearances. He batted in the cleanup spot in this game against a right-handed pitcher, following the great trio of Ohtani, Betts, and Hernandez. He should see plenty of RBI opportunities hitting behind the Dodgers' plethora of elite hitters, even if he takes a spot on the bench some days when a left-handed starter is on the mound. He launched 20 homers with 66 RBI for the Giants last season, two numbers he should be able to improve upon now that he is in a better park and a better lineup.Source: MLB.com
5 hours agoDetroit Tigers third baseman prospect Jace Jung smacked his second home run of 2025 in a 2-for-4 day at the plate for Triple-A Toledo. The 24-year-old also tripled and drew a walk in the contest. The left-handed slugger is 5-for-15 (.333) to begin the 2025 campaign, with four of his five hits going for extra bases. The Texas Tech product has also walked seven times, compared to six strikeouts, giving him a .545 OBP. The Tigers' seventh-ranked prospect debuted with the club last year and held his own, slashing .241/.362/.304, but with no home runs. With a career 15.7 percent walk rate in the minors, Jung would be viable for fantasy if he can get the power to come around the next time he gets the call to the majors, however, he'll be a zero in the stolen base department, and a high strikeout rate may limit any upside. Regardless, look for him to be back with Detroit in 2025. Source: MiLB.com
5 hours agoFirst baseman Jon Singleton signed a minor-league contract with the New York Mets on Wednesday. He was recently released by the Astros after not making their Opening Day roster, although he was surprisingly effective in 2024. He slashed .234/.321/.386 with 13 home runs, 42 RBI, and 46 runs in 119 games. The slugger strikes out a lot but makes up for it with an excellent walk rate, posting an 11.6% walk rate last season that ranked in the 91st percentile. He could wind up on the Mets major league roster at some point this season as a bench bat or potential DH option.Source: New York Mets
5 hours agoSecond baseman Niko Goodrum signed a minor-league contract with the New York Mets on Wednesday. He spent spring training with the Padres but didn't make the Opening Day roster, so now he'll give things a shot with the Mets. He only appeared in 13 games for the Angels and Rays in 2024, slashing a measly .103/.188/.103. He did enjoy some success in the KBO in 2023, batting .295 in 50 games, but hasn't been able to find his footing back in major league baseball. He'll provide depth as a utility man in the minors for the Mets but could find himself on the major league roster if injuries open up some spots.Source: New York Mets

6 hours agoLos Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani collected three hits on Wednesday, including a walk-off home run, to elevate the Dodgers to a 6-5 victory over the Braves. The win brings Los Angeles to a league-leading 8-0 record, while it sent Atlanta spiraling down to 0-7 on the year. The homer was Ohtani's third of the season, and he is now batting .333 with three home runs, three RBI, 11 runs, and two stolen bases through eight games. He continues to show why he is one of the best players to ever step on the field and remains one of the best hitters in fantasy.Source: MLB.com

6 hours agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen looked untouchable on Wednesday, striking out 13 batters over 6 ⅔ shutout innings in a 4-3 win against the Yankees. The Yankees and their torpedo bats have gained a lot of attention over the recent days, but the bats don't matter if they don't make contact. Gallen collected 24 whiffs on the night for a whiff rate of 57%. His knuckle curveball was the most effective of his pitches, collecting 13 whiffs all on its own. He'll look to carry this momentum into his next start, currently lined up to be against the Orioles.Source: MLB.com
6 hours agoAtlanta Braves shortstop prospect Luke Waddell continued his hot hitting to begin the year, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored for Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday. The 26-year-old is now 9-for-20 (.450) through five games for the Stripers. The former fifth-round draft pick spent all of 2024 at Triple-A, slashing .235/.317/.322, but has always struck out at a better-than-average rate while walking at an above-average rate, registering at 13.1 percent and 11.8 percent respectively for his minor league career. The Georgia Tech product offers some speed as well, tallying as many as 29 steals in 2023. Perhaps this is the year he puts it all together, and with the Braves struggling for offense, maybe they shake things up and give the left-handed hitter a shot at some point. The 5-foot-7 infielder is not a stash candidate for fantasy, however.Source: MiLB.com
