2 months agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (knee) is still the only player on the team's 53-man roster that was not participating in practice on Thursday. Love suffered a Grade 1/2 MCL sprain to his left knee at the tail end of the Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last Friday in Brazil and has missed the first two practices in Week 2. Head coach Matt LaFleur said the door is open for Love to play this Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts at Lambeau Field, but that feels like a long shot. In a best-case-scenario, the 25-year-old will probably be lucky to miss only a few games. In the meantime, backup Malik Willis is expected to start this Sunday against the Colts, where fantasy managers should expect a much less explosive Packers offense. Fantasy managers should have already made plans to go in another direction at QB with Love unlikely to play in Week 2.Source: Packers.com - Wes Hodkiewicz
2 months agoWhen asked if the door is open for Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (knee) to suit up in Week 2 this Sunday at Lambeau Field against the Indianapolis Colts, head coach Matt LaFleur said, "I'd say it's pretty open." Love did not practice on Wednesday after suffering a Grade 1/2 MCL sprain in his left knee at the very end of the season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last Friday in Brazil. The Packers are not placing the 25-year-old on Injured Reserve, which means they are confident he can return within the next four games. However, despite LaFleur's comments about Love having a shot to play this weekend, fantasy managers should have already formulated a plan to be without Love in Week 2 and possibly beyond. Love's injury typically comes with a three- to six-week timetable, so the smart money is on him missing multiple weeks. The Packers offense could struggle mightily with backup Malik Willis under center in the meantime.Source: NFL.com - Jason B Hirschhorn
2 months agoGreen Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (back) was limited in practice on Wednesday with a back injury, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. The Packers are likely easing the practice workload on their newly acquired running back prior to their Week 2 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Jacobs saw a heavy workload on Friday evening against the Eagles as presumed backup MarShawn Lloyd was inactive with a hamstring injury. Jacobs logged a hefty 42 offensive snaps in that game. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Jacobs' status prior to the weekend. Lloyd was also a limited participant in practice as well. If Jacobs were to face any limitations in Week 2, Emanuel Wilson would likely see an uptick in work.Source: Rob Demovsky
2 months agoGreen Bay Packers running back La'Mical Perine has been released by the organization on Tuesday. Perine joined the Packers a few weeks ago after getting cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers at the end of August. Perine was on the Packers practice squad, but they needed to move him in order to make room for tight end Johnny Lumpkin. Through three seasons, Perine has 340 rushing yards and two touchdowns between the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. The 26-year-old will look to catch on elsewhere as a depth option.Source: Tom Silverstein

3 months agoGreen Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said on Monday that quarterback Malik Willis will be the team's starter until Jordan Love (knee) is able to return from his MCL sprain, which could take anywhere from three to six weeks. The Packers aren't putting Love on Injured Reserve, which would have required at least a four-game absence, but they are expected to play it safe with the franchise signal-caller's recovery. "If Jordan is not cleared, then we'll start Malik, and Sean will be the backup," LaFleur said. Willis, 25, appears in line to start in Week 2 at Lambeau Field against the Indianapolis Colts, where he'll be a desperation QB2 play in superflex leagues. The Titans former third-round pick will most likely be asked to manage the game for Green Bay's offense, lowering the fantasy ceiling of all of his wideouts, while the Packers could opt to lean on their ground game.Source: Green Bay Press-Gazette - Ryan Wood

3 months agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (knee) is expected to be sidelined for 3-to-6 weeks after getting injured in Friday's loss to the Eagles in Brazil. But according to NFL's Tom Pelissero, the Packers believe the signal-caller could be back on "the sooner end." Of course, with Green Bay and Love agreeing to a lucrative contract extension this offseason, the team won't take chances. There was talk that the club had reached out to veteran Ryan Tannehill to fill the void under center. However, that doesn't appear to be the case, with Pelissero adding the Packers "are focused on preparing Malik Willis and Sean Clifford." With that said, Love's absence isn't good news for the receiving corps, so fantasy managers are certainly hoping he'll be back sooner rather than later.Source: Tom Pelissero
3 months agoThe Green Bay Packers have reached out to free-agent quarterback Ryan Tannehill, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Tannehill has expressed interest in signing with an NFL team, but only if it's the right situation. Specifically, he's looking to play for a contender with strong offensive-line play and talented weapons. Green Bay represents a fit, not just because it meets those specifications, but also because the Packers recently learned that Jordan Love (knee) will miss several weeks with an MCL sprain. Without Love, the Packers' current quarterback room consists of Malik Willis and Sean Clifford. Tannehill could be an upgrade over those two players, though even if he does sign, he might require a little extra time to ramp up to an NFL-caliber quality of play.Source: Dianna Russini

3 months agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (knee) appears to have avoided a season-ending injury. Love went down in the final moments of Friday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He needed to be helped off the field and further evaluation revealed an MCL sprain. The Packers only expect Love to miss a few weeks, which could be three or four games. Fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief that it wasn't an ACL tear that would force Love to miss the entire season. The assumption is that Malik Willis will start for a few weeks, but free-agent quarterback Ryan Tannehill has also been rumored to be an option. Whoever starts is going to be a downgrade over Love under center.Source: Ian Rapoport
3 months agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (knee) suffered a sprained MCL in the 34-29 Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday in Brazil, according to Ian Rapoport. Love is expected to miss 3-to-4 weeks . How long Love will be out is still to be determined, but Malik Willis is currently the Packers' No. 2 quarterback. He should be the starter until Love is healthy. However, many have speculated that Green Bay could add a veteran to compete with Willis until Love returns. Unfortunately, fantasy managers might have to avoid starting any Packers pass-catchers with Willis under center.Source: Ian Rapoport - NFL Network
3 months agoAccording to NFL Media's Tom Pelissero, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love's (knee) ACL is "intact." The latest update comes after ESPN's Diana Russini indicated the signal-caller would undergo an MRI once the Packers' flight from Brazil landed, adding that an ankle injury was "ruled out." Love, who signed a lucrative extension during the offseason, played most of Friday's opener versus the Eagles before suffering a leg injury with only seconds remaining in the contest. At this point, fantasy managers are willing to accept an absence of a game or two, considering the alternative. But until Love is cleared to return to the field, Malik Willis is the favorite to take over under center, with the former Titan failing to connect on his only pass attempt in Week 1.Source: Tom Pelissero
3 months agoGreen Bay Packers kicker Brayden Narveson made his NFL debut for the team in the Packers' 34-29 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. Narveson made three of his four field goal attempts from 31, 23, and 26 yards. The lone miss came from 43 yards out when Narveson hit the upright. He also made both extra-point attempts on the night. With the Packers offense moving the ball solidly, Narveson did look the part in a unique environment for an NFL debut in Brazil. The Packers' rookie kicker should remain on the waiver wire in fantasy, as Narveson is still a bit risky to trust in your lineups for Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts at home. Still, his fantasy outlook going forward has brightened a bit in a pressure-packed game with a national spotlight.Source: ESPN
3 months agoGreen Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft had a pretty quiet night in the stat sheet in the Packers' 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paulo on Friday night. Kraft caught 2-of-3 targets for 37 yards, but the story is that Kraft was the TE1 in snaps and routes well over presumptive starter Luke Musgrave. Per Nathan Jahnke of PFF, Kraft dominated routes per dropback 30-8 and also in snaps as Kraft ran all but three snaps. Even if Kraft's utilization going forward remains as it was in Week 1, Kraft is still a streaming option if you need a tight end, not as somebody you need to plug into fantasy lineups immediately. Of course, there's the Jordan Love aspect, as Love left the game with an undisclosed lower-body injury. If Love plays in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts, Kraft is a mid-range fantasy TE2 with volume-based upside.Source: ESPN
