Bashi was making his UFC debut and entered the bout with a ton of hype. However, he struggled to control Rodriguez on the ground, as the veteran was able to scramble and get the better positions and land the more damaging shots on the ground. With the loss, Bashi is now 13-1 as a pro and should get a step-down in competition next time out.

Rodriguez was taking on the undefeated prospect and was a big underdog. Yet, Rodriguez was able to have success on the ground with his scrambles as he edged out a decision win. With the win, Rodriguez is now 12-2 as a pro and 5-2 in the UFC. He could be a win away from a ranked opponent next time out.

3 months agoChris Curtis suffered a third-round knockout loss to Roman Kopylov at UFC Vegas 101 on Saturday. Curtis was outstruck in the first round but did have a good second round, outstriking the Russian 58-to-38. With the fight even, Curtis struggled in the third as he was taken down and got hit with some heavy shots. With a second left, Kopylov landed a head kick that dropped Curtis and the ref stopped the fight. With the loss, Curtis is now 31-12 and 1 NC while being 5-4 and 1 NC in the UFC. Curtis hinted at dropping down to welterweight next time out.

The Russian outstruck Curtis in the first round but did struggle a bit in the second round. In the third round, Kopylov turned to his wrestling as he attempted four takedowns, but he did land good strikes on the feet. As he had Curtis hurt, he landed a big head kick that dropped Curtis, and the fight was stopped. With the win, Kopylov is now 14-3 as a pro and 6-3 in the UFC. He should get a top-10 opponent next.
