3 weeks agoNew Jersey Devils left wing Tomas Tatar (lower body) will miss a second consecutive game on Monday versus the Rangers. He sustained a lower-body injury on Friday against Detroit. Tatar's efforts include three goals and six assists in 23 games this season. Shane Bowers replaced Tatar in the lineup on Saturday against Washington, but he has been sent back to the AHL. Mike Hardman and Nathan Legare were called up from the minors in a corresponding move. Both players are expected to play against the Rangers, but they won't have big roles.Source: Kristy Flannery
3 weeks agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe (upper body) will miss Monday's contest against Chicago. The 31-year-old was hit up high by a puck in Saturday's 5-3 win over Tampa Bay and will sit out Monday's game for precautionary reasons. McCabe comes out of the lineup for the first time this season. He's been quietly effective for the Maple Leafs, registering a team-best plus-11 rating across 23 games, with five assists, 20 shots, 46 blocks, and 52 hits. Philippe Myers will step into the lineup as McCabe's replacement, making only his second appearance of the season. Myers has notched 36 points (eight goals, 28 assists) in 159 career outings in the NHL.Source: NHL.com
3 weeks agoDallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger put in an impressive performance against the Jets on Sunday, finishing a 3-1 victory with 26 saves. Oettinger was beaten by Adam Lowry early on, but he was then perfect with his work for the rest of the way, improving to 9-1-0 on home ice. Oettinger's overall record now stands at 13-4-0. He has allowed 2.38 goals while registering a .915 save percentage with one shutout. The Stars No. 1 is providing excellent fantasy value for managers again. We should see Casey DeSmith between the sticks Monday night versus Utah, with Oettinger likely returning to work on Wednesday against the Kings, who are riding a three-game winning streak.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoColumbus Blue Jackets forward Kent Johnson found the back of the net once in Sunday's 6-3 win over Chicago, giving him a nine-game point streak. The scoring run is stretched across three months because Johnson missed 14 games with a shoulder injury. Ryan Johansen is the only player in Blue Jackets history to have a longer personal point streak at the start of a season with 10 games. Johnson's work includes six goals and six assists. He operates on the second line and the first power-play unit. Four of Johnson's 12 points have come with the man advantage, while he's also produced two short-handed points.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoBoston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy provided two goals in Sunday's big 6-3 win over Montreal. His second of the game came in a short-handed situation, and McAvoy added four shots, three blocks, and two hits to his tally with a plus-four rating across 23:00 of action. This was possibly the best outing of the season for McAvoy, who has been slumping all year offensively. He's only now hit double figures for scoring, producing five goals and five assists in 26 games. Entering Sunday's action, McAvoy wasn't even Boston's highest-scoring defenseman, with Mason Lohrei on nine points. He's finished in and around the 50-point mark in three consecutive campaigns, but McAvoy needs to up his scoring pace massively to get there in 2024-25.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoOttawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk had two goals on a game-high 12 shots in Sunday's 4-3 shootout loss to Anaheim. He potted a power-play goal in the first period and an even-strength goal in the second. With the effort, Tkachuk extended his point streak to five games. The prolific spell includes three multi-point outings, giving Tkachuk four goals and four assists during the stretch. The Senators captain will look to match his season-best point streak in the next matchup against Detroit. He will enter the action with 13 goals and 28 points scored for the season in 25 games.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoAnaheim Ducks right wing Troy Terry recorded three assists and scored in the shootout as the team beat Ottawa 4-3 on home ice Sunday. Terry assisted Frank Vatrano on two goals, including once on the power play, and linked up with Vatrano to help Jackson LaCombe get a goal. Terry's night included a whopping nine shots on goal. Despite being very active in front of the net, Terry failed to register a goal, but that has been the story of his season. He's netted just six times with 57 shots on goal. Luckily for fantasy managers, Terry has been a steady source for assists, particularly in recent games. The 27-year-old has put together a four-game point streak with seven assists. He's got 13 assists and 19 points in 23 games for the campaign.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoDetroit Red Wings winger Lucas Raymond extended his point streak to a career-best seven games in Sunday's 5-4 overtime defeat against Vancouver. He finished the contest with two helpers, dishing out one assist on the power play. The Swedish forward was also desperate to extend a five-game goal streak and produced a game-high six shots. Raymond has recorded five goals and four assists during his hot spell. He's on track to average a point per game for the first time in his career, sitting on seven goals and 18 assists with 24 games played.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoVancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes became the franchise's leader in assists among blue-liners with three helpers in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win against Detroit. He moved past Alexander Edler, reaching 313 assists for his career. Two of the assists came on the power play. Hughes sits among the league's most prolific defensemen and has been on a tear in recent games. The American star has tallied nine points (one goal, eight assists) in his past four appearances. Colorado's Cale Makar continues to top the defensemen scoring list, but Hughes isn't far behind anymore. He has produced 28 points (five goals, 23 assists) in 23 appearances.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoVancouver Canucks winger Jake DeBrusk had a field day against Detroit on Sunday, completing a 5-4 overtime win with three goals and one assist. After scoring a pair of power-play goals early in the second period, DeBrusk finished off his second career hat trick with the game-winner in overtime. He has now scored in four of the past five games, taking over the team lead in goal-scoring with 10 markers. DeBrusk has added nine assists across 23 outings. The 28-year-old is currently among the league's hottest goal-scorers, and fantasy managers should check if he's available in their league.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoVancouver Canucks goaltender Kevin Lankinen continued his outstanding start to the season with another victory on Sunday against Detroit, setting a league record in the process. The 29-year-old became the first goalie in NHL history to win each of his first 10 road outings in a season. Lankinen has been in good form but needed quite a bit of help from the team this time, as the Canucks barely snuck past Detroit 5-4 in overtime. With Thatcher Demko (knee) on the shelf for the start of the season, Vancouver looked to have been in trouble, but Lankinen has held down the fort superbly, going 12-3-2 for the campaign. He has allowed 2.65 goals with a .907 save percentage and two shutouts. Demko is getting close to his season debut, but Lankinen's good play should guarantee him further opportunities in the Canucks crease.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoBoston Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm (lower body) isn't close to returning to action. Per Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe, Bruins head coach Joe Sacco said on Sunday that Lindholm is still "weeks" away from making a comeback. Boston lost Lindholm on Nov. 12 against St. Louis. He led the Bruins blue line in scoring early in the year, posting seven points (three goals, four assists) in 17 outings. Lindholm's absence has boosted Mason Lohrei's fantasy stock. He's seen more action without him in the lineup, taking over the scoring lead among Bruins defensemen with eight points (one goal, seven assists).Source: Conor Ryan
3 weeks agoSt. Louis Blues defenseman Nick Leddy (lower body) will travel with the team for a four-game road trip and is expected to return to action soon. The Blues have their first stop in Winnipeg on Tuesday and won't be back home until Dec. 12. Leddy hasn't played since Oct. 15, making only four appearances this season. He averaged over 22 minutes of ice time early in the campaign. Ryan Suter has been skating on the first defensive pairing during Leddy's absence and may have a lighter workload once he returns to the lineup.Source: Lou Korac
3 weeks agoDetroit Red Wings goaltender Cam Talbot (lower body) was forced to make an early exit in Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to Vancouver. He suffered a lower-body injury in the second period. Talbot stopped 12 of 14 shots in the game. Ville Husso made 15 saves on 18 shots after replacing Talbot. The Red Wings are already without Alex Lyon (lower body) and might face a goalie crisis if Talbot also has to miss additional time. Ville Husso, who has struggled badly since last season, would then get the bulk of the action. Detroit returns to the ice on Tuesday versus Boston.Source: NHL.com
3 weeks agoColorado Avalanche defenseman Josh Manson (upper body) will be out week-to-week. He has already missed one game, sitting out his first action of the season Saturday versus Edmonton. Manson's absence will mostly be felt in the physical part of the game, as he leads Colorado with 51 hits. Offensively, he has tallied six points (one goal, five assists) in 24 appearances. John Ludvig took Manson's spot on the third defensive pairing on Saturday, logging 12:57 of ice time. He finished scoreless with two shots, one block, two hits, two penalty minutes, and a minus-one rating.Source: Conor McGahey
