3 months agoIndianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard told reporters on Wednesday that second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder) will be a full-go in training camp this summer. "I'm not expecting any limitations right now," Ballard said. This was the expectation all along after Richardson needed season-ending right-shoulder surgery just four games into his first NFL season in 2023. As long as the 22-year-old former first-rounder doesn't have a setback with his shoulder this summer and in the preseason, he'll enter the 2024 regular season as Indy's unquestioned starter under center with an extremely high fantasy ceiling, mainly because of his elite rushing abilities with the football in his hands. Even though he only has four games of experience in the NFL, Richardson is going to be expensive in fantasy drafts once the top tier of names at the position come off the board.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

3 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Ashton Dulin (knee) suffered a torn ACL during last year's training camp and has been limited this offseason, but he was seen working out and moving well in an Instagram post this week. This is a great sign for his potential training camp availability later this month. The 2019 undrafted free agent out of Malone University has hauled in just 33 passes for 450 yards and three touchdowns through his first 55 NFL games, but he was named a second-team All-Pro in 2021 for his special teams ability. Dulin is unlikely to see meaningful action as a wideout behind Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, Adonai Mitchell, and Alec Pierce, so he can be ignored in fantasy football.Source: James Boyd -- The Athletic
4 months agoIndianapolis Colts defensive end Kwity Paye has not been an ultra-productive sack artist since entering the league as the No. 21 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Michigan, but his goal is to reach at least double-digit sacks in 2024. "I had (4.0) sacks as a rookie, (6.0) as a sophomore, and now 8.5 in my third season," Paye told the Draft Network's Justin Melo recently. "I definitely want to get at least 10.5 sacks this year. I'm really shooting for 12-15 sacks, but double digits is the goal at the end of the day. I have to get there this year." Paye has gotten better every season and is playing on a talented defensive front, so it's not out of the realm of possibilities. Through his first 43 NFL games, the 25-year-old has compiled 129 tackles, 18.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass deflection.Source: NFL.com
4 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce hopes to prove he's more than just a "deep threat." "I think there's a lot more to my game," Pierce said recently. "I just want to have the chance to be able to showcase that." The 24-year-old has displayed brief glimpses of promise in his first two seasons in the league, amassing 73 catches for 1,107 yards and four touchdowns in 33 games. Michael Pittman Jr. is the No. 1 wideout on the depth chart. However, Pierce seems eager to show everyone that he's more than a one-dimensional player, so he could be in line for his most productive season to date, especially if quarterback Anthony Richardson can play at a high level. He'll be competing for the No. 2 spot primarily with Adonai Mitchell, who the Colts selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.Source: Stephen Holder
4 months agoIndianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard said on The GM Shuffle podcast that second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder) will be "full-go" for the start of training camp at the end of July despite dealing with some shoulder fatigue during offseason activities. The shoulder soreness was something expected after Richardson had season-ending surgery on his right shoulder during his rookie season in 2023. Despite the fact that the 22-year-old former fourth overall pick played in just four games last year, his elite rushing abilities make him an attractive midrange QB1 going into his sophomore season. The 6-foot-4, 244-pounder also has above-average arm strength and has an incredibly high ceiling for fantasy managers if he can remain healthy. Once the elite names at the QB position come off the board in fantasy drafts, Richardson will be hard to pass up.Source: The GM Shuffle Podcast

4 months agoIndianapolis Colts rookie wide receiver Adonai Mitchell was the team's standout player during the spring and made at least one noteworthy catch during every practice that was open to the media. The 21-year-old refuses to believe that 10 fellow wideouts -- the number drafted ahead of him -- were better than him in this year's NFL draft. "He gets open a lot," second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson said. If Mitchell can get on the same page with Richardson early this year, it could easily help the Colts end their three-year playoff drought. Mitchell's physical skills are off the charts, but he was never even the most productive receiver in college at both Georgia and Texas. There's a lot to like about him in the long-term, but Mitchell will mostly be a dynasty/keeper league asset as he competes for targets in his first year with Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd
4 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Evan Hull (knee) played in just one game and eight offensive snaps in his rookie season in 2023 before suffering a season-ending knee injury in which he tore his left MCL. "It was a root tear, so it was a little different than your typical tear in the body, which would be more of a six- to eight-week type of thing that we see typically," Hull said. The former third-rounder was cleared to resume all football activities a few weeks after offseason organized team activities begin, and he's been competing alongside Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson as the Colts evaluate who will serve as the primary back to Jonathan Taylor in 2024. Sermon is probably the favorite for the No. 2 backfield job, but Hull could see some third-down work in his second season in the NFL.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd
4 months agoIndianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder) was held out completely from Thursday's organized team activities due to what he described as "a little soreness" in his surgically repaired right shoulder. "It's nothing to worry about," Richardson said. "I've dealt with this before. Normally, I just ice up and just go back at it again." The Colts aren't going to push the second-year signal-caller after he had season-ending AC joint surgery back in October, and Richardson dismissed any notion that he suffered a setback in his rehab. He said the Colts were actually "surprised" that Thursday was the first day he sat out due to soreness because it's been "smooth sailing" otherwise. Despite having played in only four games in the NFL, Richardson has enticing high-end QB1 upside in fantasy. Richardson should be a full-go in training camp this summer.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd

5 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts released offensive lineman Jack Anderson on Thursday, according to NFL.com. The 2021 seventh-round pick by the Buffalo Bills out of Texas Tech signed a one-year contract extension with the Colts just over three months ago, but his time with the organization has come to an end. Anderson, who is 25 years old, has played in 15 games (three starts) for the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, and Colts. While he's unlikely to compete for a starting role elsewhere, teams are always looking to add depth to the offensive line.Source: NFL.com
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce (foot) didn't take part in mandatory minicamp this week as a precaution after his foot was stepped on in practice last week. It's a minor injury for Pierce, who should be a full-go for training camp at the end of July. The 24-year-old wideout will be competing for the No. 3 job in Indy this year with rookie second-rounder Adonai Mitchell behind starters Michael Pittman Jr. and Josh Downs. The former second-rounder in 2022 out of Cincinnati hasn't really been on the fantasy radar in standard 12-team leagues in his first two years in the NFL, catching a total of 73 passes for 1,107 yards and four touchdowns, although a healthy Anthony Richardson at quarterback could change that if Pierce beats out Mitchell for the No. 3 job in training camp and the preseason.Source: Indianapolis Star - Joel A. 5 months agoIndianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen told reporters on Thursday that second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder) is dealing with some soreness in his surgically-repaired right shoulder. Steichen inferred that it wasn't a big deal, though, saying that Richardson could play in a game if needed. The 22-year-old made it through only four games in his rookie campaign in 2023 before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury, but the former fourth overall pick in 2023 out of Florida has been fully cleared this offseason and will be ready to go for the start of the regular season this fall. It's not out of the ordinary for a player in Richardson's situation to have some normal soreness during his recovery. Richardson is going to need to improve as a passer, but his elite rushing ability and physicality make give him high-end QB1 upside going into Year 2.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
