3 days agoVegas Golden Knights goaltender Ilya Samsonov (upper body) is considered day-to-day and may not be available for Tuesday's meeting with the Edmonton Oilers. The Russian netminder was a late scratch on Saturday against the Nashville Predators when he was scheduled to start. Adin Hill ended up playing for a second consecutive day, delivering a 23-save performance in a 3-1 victory. Samsonov has put in solid work as Hill's backup all season, posting a 16-9-3 record. He has picked up two shutouts while allowing 2.79 goals with a .892 save percentage. Akira Schmid has been called up from the minors to step into the lineup on Tuesday if needed.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoHouston Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. (forearm) allowed two earned runs and struck out three batters in his two innings of work in his first minor-league rehab start on Sunday at Triple-A Sugar Land. McCullers hit 94.9 mph on the radar gun in what was overall a positive outing, especially when considering it was his first real game action since the World Series in 2022. The 31-year-old also threw a scoreless inning in his only action in the Grapefruit League during spring training. McCullers had surgery to fix the flexor tendon in his right arm back in 2023 and hasn't pitched since after having multiple setbacks along the way. It's looking he may finally make his return to Houston's starting rotation in 2025, but he has a ways to go still, and the Astros are going to take their time. McCullers deserves to be stashed in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues, but his fantasy upside will be limited while on a strict workload this year.Source: KPRC 2 Sports - Randy McIlvoy
3 days agoUtah Jazz guard Collin Sexton (pelvis) won't play on Monday against the Hornets. The Jazz have plenty of names listed on Monday's edition of the injury report, with Lauri Markkanen (knee), Jordan Clarkson (foot), Walker Kessler (rest), Cody Williams (illness), and John Collins (ankle) all ruled out. As a result, Keyonte George and Isaiah Collier should lead the way on the scoring end, with an uptick in production expected from Kyle Filipowski, Brice Sensabaugh, and Svi Mykhailiuk.Source: Andy Larsen
3 days agoIndiana Pacers center Myles Turner (illness) is unavailable for Monday's matchup with the Sacramento Kings. Going into Monday's contest, he had only sat out once in the last 20 games. However, Turner was added late to the Pacers' injury report due to an illness that will keep him out of the lineup. With the big man out of action this evening, the team's frontcourt will likely rely on Thomas Bryant and Obi Toppin to soak up some minutes.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoMinnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober (illness) allowed eight earned runs in just 2 2/3 innings in his first start of the year on Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Ober struggled through diminished velocity and poor command on Sunday and in spring training, but he revealed after his poor start on Sunday that he has been battling an illness. The 29-year-old's fastball averaged 91.7 mph last year, but it fell to 89.9 mph during spring training and was only slightly better on Sunday. He threw only 33 of his 77 pitches for strikes and got only four whiffs on 28 swings while also walking three. Manager Rocco Baldelli noted the coaching staff came close to skipping or pushing Ober's start back. His next scheduled start will be on Saturday at home against the Houston Astros, giving him extra time to get healthy. Fantasy managers will be hoping Ober can bounce back after a rough first start, which is what he did in 2024.Source: The Athletic - Aaron Gleeman
3 days agoVegas Golden Knights forward Tomas Hertl (shoulder) has been ruled out for the week. He has missed three games due to a shoulder injury and is set to sit out at least four more contests. Hertl is tied for the team lead with 31 goals and has amassed 59 points in 70 games. Nicolas Roy has moved up to the second line to replace Hertl but has not been effective, going pointless with a minus-two rating over the past three games. William Karlsson has shown off much better form and currently holds additional fantasy value as Hertl's replacement on the top power-play unit. The Swedish centerman has recorded four assists with seven shots on goal since Hertl's exit from the lineup.Source: NHL.com

3 days agoOrlando Magic guard Cole Anthony (toe) remains out for Monday's meeting with the Clippers, marking his seventh-consecutive absence because of a sprained toe. Cory Joseph has been filling in at the one. However, Joseph hasn't done much with his afforded opportunity, with the veteran averaging 7.4 points, 3.2 assists, and 3.2 rebounds in 10 starts this season. On the other hand, Anthony Black has benefited from Anthony's absence, amassing double-digit scoring in five of his last seven appearances.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoPhiladelphia Flyers right wing Garnet Hathaway (upper body) will replace Nicolas Deslauriers in the lineup on Monday against the Nashville Predators. The power forward was injured on a hit by Pittsburgh Penguins forward Bokondji Imama on Feb. 27. He has missed 15 games, though Hathaway has been practicing for over a week. Hathaway has collected 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 60 games and leads the Flyers with 218 hits. The 33-year-old will skate on the fourth line with Olle Lycksell and Rodrigo Abols.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoThe Detroit Tigers announced on Monday that they placed infielder Gleyber Torres (oblique) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to March 29) with a left-oblique strain and recalled infielder/outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy from Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move. Torres suffered what the team was calling a rib injury on Friday in the loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and he sat out of Saturday's series finale at Dodger Stadium as a result. It's a tough break for the 28-year-old Venezuelan to start his first year in Detroit, but the injury wasn't believed to be very severe, so hopefully he'll be able to come off the IL when eligible. With Torres sidelined on Saturday, Colt Keith moved to the keystone and Spencer Torkelson manned first base. That should be the setup moving forward with Torres on the shelf. Malloy will provide depth for a beat-up Tigers outfield.Source: Tigers PR
3 days agoAccording to K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network, Chicago Bulls guard/forward Josh Giddey (hip) said he will play against his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, on Monday. Giddey participated in the Bulls' morning shootaround after he was listed as questionable for right-hip soreness and injury management. In his last outing, the 22-year-old finished with eight points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two blocks across 27 minutes in a 120-119 loss to the Mavs on Saturday. He should be a solid fantasy option for this evening as he goes up against his former club.Source: K.C. Johnson
3 days agoBrooklyn Nets center Day'Ron Sharpe (knee) will remain out for Monday's matchup against Dallas. He's already missed three games because of a sprained knee, so it's unknown if he'll be back on the floor before the end of the regular season. While Nicolas Claxton will remain in the middle to begin the game, Drew Timme, averaging 15.0 points and eight rebounds in two professional appearances, is worth considering for DFS lineups.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoColorado Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson (lower body) will return to action on Monday against the Calgary Flames. The veteran blue-liner has been sidelined for three games due to a lower-body injury. Keaton Middleton has filled in for Johnson and will now exit the lineup. Johnson has picked up only a handful of points this season and should remain a free agent in fantasy leagues. Over 28 appearances with the Avalanche and Philadelphia Flyers, Johnson has recorded one goal and two assists with 48 blocks.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoMiami Marlins right-hander Eury Perez (elbow) will throw against live hitters on Tuesday, according to Fish On First's Kevin Barral. Perez had previously been limited to throwing bullpen sessions as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery in April of 2024. The 21-year-old is making a big step as he advances to throwing to live hitters, but he still has a ways to go before making his 2025 debut and isn't expected to return to Miami's starting rotation until around the All-Star break in mid-July. The Marlins will continue to take it slow in his recovery from elbow reconstruction. The Dominican hurler should have a full workload eventually down the stretch in 2025 when he returns, but fantasy managers still may want to temper their expectations despite the fact that Perez showed ace potential in 2023. His upside makes him worth stashing in deep-mixed and NL-only leagues, though.Source: Fish On First - Kevin Barral
3 days agoBrooklyn Nets forward Noah Clowney (ankle) won't play on Monday against the Mavericks. He got the start in Saturday's win over the Wizards, finishing with 13 points and five rebounds. However, the 20-year-old sprained his right ankle late in the contest and didn't return. With Cameron Johnson (back) sidelined for this one, Clowney had a chance to remain with the first five. But now it appears Jalen Wilson, averaging 11.2 points in 18 starts during the 2024-25 campaign, could fill the spot in the rotation. Trendon Watford should also see additional minutes.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoPhiladelphia Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen (upper body) will likely remain on the shelf for the rest of the season. "The plan is to not have him back this season," Flyers interim head coach Brad Shaw said. "I'm not 100 percent on what the timeline looks like, but I can't imagine he would be playing in the next couple weeks." Ristolainen will be out of action for a 10th consecutive game on Monday against the Nashville Predators. He has posted 19 points (4 goals, 15 assists), 100 shots, 94 blocks, and 97 hits in 63 games this season.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoIt was another solid outing for Ryan Preece on Sunday afternoon, as the Roush-Fenway Keselowski Racing driver seems to be fitting in quite well with his new team after he earned a career-first third straight top-10 finish. Despite starting back in 21st-place, Preece was able to work his way through the field on Sunday afternoon before settling in late and coming home with a seventh-place result. After the race, he stated, "We're getting on a roll. At first, this is a place I wanted to take advantage of for points because I felt like Martinsville is in my wheelhouse, so I'm happy we did. I hate talking about points, but every bit matters." Preece is now sits 14th in the points standings after seven races. The series heads to Darlington next, where Preece has been knocking on the door of a top-10 lately, with finishes between 12th- and 17th-place in four of the last five races.Source: Jayski
3 days agoThe Atlanta Braves announced on Monday that they selected the contract of right-handed reliever Jesse Chavez from Triple-A Gwinnett to the major-league roster and designated right-handed reliever Hector Neris for assignment in a corresponding move. The 41-year-old Chavez will give the Braves a new bullpen arm after Neris had a disastrous two relief outings in San Diego over the weekend by allowing five earned runs on five hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out one in just one inning of work. This will be Chavez's fourth different stint with the organization. In 46 appearances out of the Braves' bullpen last year, Chavez was solid with a 3.13 ERA (4.43 FIP) and 1.25 WHIP with 55 strikeouts and 19 walks in 63 1/3 innings pitched. In a likely middle-relief role, Chavez will have very little fantasy appeal.Source: Atlanta Braves
3 days agoBrooklyn Nets forward Cameron Johnson (back) won't play on Monday night against Dallas. He had an excellent game in the recent win over the Washington Wizards, finishing with 18 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Unfortunately, he took a hard fall late in the contest and was ruled out. With Brooklyn already eliminated from Play-In contention, it's anyone's guess if Johnson has a few more games in him before the end of the regular season. But with Noah Clowney (ankle) also ruled out, Jalen Wilson may slide into the starting lineup, with the 24-year-old averaging 11.2 points in 18 starts this season. Trendon Watford should also see extra work after amassing seven points and two blocks versus the Wizards.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoNashville Predators forward Colton Sissons (lower body) has been listed as week-to-week and is not expected to return to action this season. Nashville has been eliminated from playoff contention, so the team has no incentive to rush Sissons back after he suffered a lower-body injury on Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights. Sissons has recorded seven goals and 21 points in 72 appearances while delivering 100 hits. With Sissons and Jonathan Marchessault (lower body) unavailable for Monday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, the Predators plan to use seven defensemen. Jordan Oesterle will enter the lineup alongside Jakub Vrana.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoAtlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy (rib) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, per The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Justin Toscano. A rib injury suffered in spring training landed Murphy on the IL to begin the 2025 regular season, but barring a setback once he returns to game action this week on the farm, there's a chance that he could come off the IL when eligible this Friday, April 4. When Murphy does make it back to Atlanta, he could be eased into the starting catching duties, but when healthy, he's the team's unquestioned No. 1 backstop. Catching prospect Drake Baldwin has been serving as the Braves' primary catcher to open the year, with Chadwick Tromp backing him up. In his first three MLB games, Baldwin is just 1-for-11 at the plate with a walk and three strikeouts.Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - Justin Toscano
3 days agoAfter a rough stretch of races to start out the month of March, Bubba Wallace has his season back on track, as the 23XI Racing driver finished third for the second weekend in a row after a very strong effort at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Bubba was in contention all day long, as the No. 23 Toyota ranked third-fastest in Green Flag Speed and third-best in Average Running Position during the event. After the race, Wallace remarked, "What a great day. Continuing to rebound from the start of our season. Super proud of our group here at the No. 23 team. McDonald's Toyota Camry was fast all weekend. That final restart, I let that second get away. I don't know if I had anything for [Denny Hamlin]. It would have been fun to try. But all in all, hell of a day for Toyota. Top three. That's nice. Keep the momentum going, having fun."Source: Motorsports Wire
3 days agoNashville Predators right wing Jonathan Marchessault (lower body) is considered day-to-day and will likely sit out Monday's matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers. Marchessault has had a difficult year in Nashville, posting only 49 points (19 goals, 30 assists) in 73 games, and to make matters worse, he has now sustained a lower-body injury, which will knock him out of the lineup for the first time this season. Jakub Vrana is expected to replace Marchessault in the top six on Monday. With over 100 career goals to his name, Vrana has established himself as a proven scorer in the NHL; however, he lacks the consistency needed to be a reliable fantasy asset. In 31 outings this season, Vrana has scored eight goals and recorded 12 points with 38 shots on goal.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoHouston Astros outfielder Jose Altuve has returned to second base and will bat leadoff for the Astros for the series opener on Monday against the visiting San Francisco Giants and right-hander Jordan Hicks at Daikin Park. It will be the first time that Altuve is back at the keystone after starting the first three games last week against the New York Mets in left field. The 34-year-old veteran is expected to see most of his playing time in left in 2025, but he'll still occasionally pick up some starts at second base. With Altuve at second, Mauricio Dubon is in left field and is batting eighth. Altuve is off to an excellent start this year after his position switch, going 5-for-11 with a run scored, a walk and four strikeouts in three games against the New York Mets last week. He should remain in all starting fantasy lineups. Altuve is hitless with an RBI in just three career at-bats versus Hicks.Source: MLB.com
3 days agoTodd Gilliland grabbed his second top-10 finish of the season on Sunday afternoon, coming home 10th at Martinsville Speedway after a mistake-free day in the 400-lap race. This is Gilliland's second top-10 result of the season (and third top 15) through the first seven races of the year, with the other being a 10th-place finish at COTA. His race at Martinsville ends a skid for the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports team, as they had a rough couple of weeks at Las Vegas and Homestead, finishing 29th and 30th (respectively) in those two races. He currently sits in 22nd-place in the points standings as the Cup Series heads to Darlington next weekend. Gilliland could be in line for another good run there, as he has finished between 11th and 17th in four of his six career starts at "The Lady in Black."Source: Front Row Motorsports

3 days agoPhoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant (ankle) is expected to miss at least one week after suffering a sprained left ankle in Sunday's blowout loss to the Houston Rockets. The latest update means Durant won't suit up during the Suns' upcoming three-game road trip, beginning on Tuesday in Milwaukee. Phoenix is currently on the outside looking in for a Play-In spot. But if the Suns get eliminated before Durant is cleared to return, there's a chance he won't be back on the floor this season. With rumors regarding KD's departure this offseason, he may have already played his final game with the organization. With that said, Royce O'Neale should slide into the starting lineup, with Devin Booker expected to see a surge in production while Durant is on the shelf.Source: Shams Charania
3 days agoNew York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor is out of the starting lineup on Monday on the road in Miami against the division-rival Marlins for the birth of his son, Koa, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. With Lindor out on Monday for the start of a series in Miami, Luisangel Acuna will start at the 6 and will bat eighth against Marlins right-hander Cal Quantrill. It remains to be seen if Lindor will be back in the Mets' lineup for Tuesday's contest, so fantasy managers will need to check back then. The four-time All-Star is still searching for his first hit of 2025 after going hitless in 13 trips to the plate with an RBI and three strikeouts in the three-game series against the Houston Astros last week. Acuna, meanwhile, is also hitless in the first three games of the year, going 0-for-4 with a steal, a walk and two strikeouts. He has never faced Quantrill in his career.Source: MLB.com - Anthony DiComo
3 days agoFormer two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno scored a unanimous decision victory over former title challenger Steve Erceg at UFC Mexico City to improve to 23-8-2 as a pro. The fight remained mostly on the feet, but Moreno landed the more powerful punches, especially hard hooks that hurt Erceg. In 25 minutes of action, Moreno landed a takedown and 89 significant strikes. For Moreno, the victory was his first on home soil since signing with the UFC. This was Moreno's 10th consecutive five-round fight. With the win, Moreno is now 11-5-2 in the UFC.Source: UFC
3 days agoOn Saturday, former title challenger Steve Erceg dropped a unanimous decision to former two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno in the main event of UFC Mexico City. Although Saturday's fight was closely competitive, Moreno won all but the third round on all three cards. Although he had a good performance, Erceg was one step behind Moreno. Erceg is now on a three-fight losing streak, which raises questions about his future in the UFC. In 25 minutes of action, Erceg landed 116 significant strikes. With the loss, Erceg is now 12-4 as a pro and 3-3 in the UFC.Source: UFC
