5 months agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed has been hot and cold this season, but looks to string a couple of great games together pre and post-bye as the Packers head to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears. Reed put up his third 100-yard game in a row in the Packers' loss to the Lions in Week 9, but in the four weeks prior, Reed hadn't been top-24 fantasy wide receiver. He's been a bit inconsistent, but still is the Packers' best chance at a massive spike week from the wide receivers with his utilization for target-earning in the slot as well as downfield. With the Bears being excellent against slot receivers having given up the third-lowest fantasy per game to slot receivers, Week 11 represents a tough matchup for Reed. That takes his fantasy status down a bit to the WR2 range this week.--Kevin Tompkins - RotoBallerSource: RotoBaller

5 months agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is looking to shake some rust after the Week 10 bye as the Packers match up with their long-time rival Chicago Bears in Week 11. Love has been spotty at best in the past two weeks before their bye with a combined 18.6 fantasy points in matchups against the Jaguars and Lions. Having thrown multiple touchdowns in his first five starts, Love hasn't thrown a touchdown pass in almost a month. Not helping Love here is a tough matchup with Chicago, who represents a team that has allowed the third-fewest touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks and a lockdown cornerback in Jaylon Johnson. For fantasy, Love always has huge upside, but should be considered as a low-end QB or high-end QB2 where you may prefer to start a quarterback with a better matchup.--Kevin Tompkins - RotoBallerSource: RotoBaller

5 months agoGreen Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (quad) is off the injury report after putting in a full practice session and is good to go for Sunday's Week 11 divisional clash against the Chicago Bears. With two limited practice sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, Jacobs may still be a bit banged up even after the Packers' bye in Week 10. Jacobs has been solid for fantasy managers, but hasn't delivered much in the way of spike weeks with just two top-ten finishes among fantasy running backs in nine weeks. Against the Chicago Bears, Jacobs remains a workhorse running back who will see the bulk of carries and provide a solid floor double-digit fantasy point floor as a high-end RB2.--Kevin Tompkins - RotoBallerSource: RotoBaller

5 months agoGreen Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (quadriceps) was limited in practice on Thursday for the second straight day this week after coming off the team's bye. In addition to Jacobs, rookie RB MarShawn Lloyd (ankle, hamstring) has practiced on a limited basis twice this week after the team opened his 21-day window to return from Injured Reserve. We should have a better idea of Jacobs' status for the Week 11 divisional game against the Chicago Bears after Green Bay releases their final injury report on Friday, but it would be a surprise if Jacobs wasn't active. Lloyd could be a threat to Jacobs' volume down the stretch, but only an injury would supplant the former Raiders RB from top-dog status in the Packers' backfield. As long as Jacobs is active, consider him a high-end RB2 against a Bears defense that has been more vulnerable to the RB position in recent weeks.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: SI.com - Bill Huber

5 months agoGreen Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring, ankle) is practicing for a second straight day since being designated to return from the Injured Reserve list. The rookie out of USC was placed on IR with a hamstring injury after Week 2 and is now also listed with an ankle ailment. It is to be determined if Lloyd will be activated to play in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears, but his return to practice is promising. The team's third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft could compete for the RB2 role behind Josh Jacobs when he's back in action, but it would be surprising if he's on the fantasy football radar unless Jacobs gets banged up. His rookie season has not gone to plan, but he could at least enter next season as the top handcuff for Jacobs in a great offense. UPDATE: Lloyd was limited for a second straight day on Thursday.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBallerSource: Rob Demovksy

5 months agoGreen Bay Packers defensive back Jaire Alexander (knee) was listed as a limited participant in the team's first practice of the week, as reported by Bill Huber of SI.com. The former first-round pick sat out of the team's 24-14 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 9 after a week's worth of DNPs. However, it appears he's made progress after the Packers' Week 10 bye, at least able to log a limited session ahead of Green Bay's road tilt against the Chicago Bears. It's a good sign for his status this Sunday. If Alexander is forced to miss more time, fellow defensive backs Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine will continue to see an uptick in snaps. Keep an eye on his status moving forward, as his practice participation over the next few days should give us a better idea of his health.--Alex CiullaSource: Bill Huber

5 months agoGreen Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (quadriceps) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice, according to Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated. Fantasy managers should not be overly concerned but should continue to monitor his status throughout the week. However, seeing him already participate in a limited capacity is a promising sign for his availability for this weekend. Throughout his first season in Green Bay, the former first-round selection has averaged a solid 14.7 PPR points per game with 84.7 rushing yards per game. If he is able to suit up this weekend to face the Chicago Bears, Jacobs should be viewed as an RB2 with upside.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Bill Huber

5 months agoGreen Bay Packers rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) is practicing on Wednesday for the first time since he was placed on Injured Reserve after Week 2 due to an ankle injury. The third-rounder out of USC rushed six times for 15 yards and caught one pass for three yards in the Week 2 game against the Indianapolis Colts. It will be interesting to see if Lloyd can push Emanuel Wilson for the RB2 job behind Josh Jacobs in the second half of the 2024 campaign, but that is not a given. Fantasy managers in deep formats can consider stashing him, but it might be a bit early to consider him in leagues of 12 teams or fewer. He's unlikely to have a significant role when he returns as long as Josh Jacobs remains healthy and active. UPDATE: Lloyd was limited in his first practice back on Wednesday.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBallerSource: Rob Demovksy

5 months agoGreen Bay Packers rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) will return to practice this week and be designated to return from Injured Reserve. The Packers will now have 21 days to officially activate Lloyd from IR, but he's now eligible to potentially return to the field this Sunday to face the division-rival Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. The 23-year-old third-round pick hasn't played since suffering an ankle sprain in Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts, but he's nearing a return and certainly could take over lead backup duties behind Josh Jacobs by the end of the season. Lloyd isn't a bad deep-league stash, especially if you have Jacobs rostered, but you should also temper expectations. He missed most of training camp as well due to an injury and has lots of catching up to do. Emanuel Wilson has been Jacobs' primary backup for most of the year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Athletic - Matt Schneidman

5 months agoGreen Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said that rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (ankle) is going to be ready to be activated from Injured Reserve in the near future and will likely take the 53-man roster spot of linebacker Preston Smith, who was dealt to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday at the trade deadline. The Packers are on bye in Week 10, but they could open the 23-year-old's 21-day practice window next week, and he could be ready to return for a Week 11 clash against the division-rival Chicago Bears. The third-rounder has been banged up since training camp and only played in Week 2 against the Colts, carrying the ball six times for 15 yards and catching one pass for three yards. Lloyd has missed a lot of developmental time in his rookie campaign, but he has the skills to be Green Bay's RB2 behind Josh Jacobs by season's end.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: 247 Sports - Zachary Jacobson

5 months agoGreen Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that tight end Luke Musgrave (ankle) underwent ankle surgery. "He will hopefully be back later this season," LaFleur said. Musgrave was placed on Injured Reserve on Oct. 11 due to his ankle injury, but barring a setback in his recovery, he'll have a chance to return to the team later this season. The 24-year-old quickly took a back seat to fellow TE Tucker Kraft as a pass-catcher in the early portion of 2024 before injuring his ankle. The second-round pick in 2023 out of Oregon State had five catches for 22 yards in four games before getting hurt after putting up a 34-352-1 line in 11 regular-season games in his rookie campaign. When Musgrave returns later this season, he'll most likely go back to playing second fiddle to Kraft. Fantasy managers in single-year leagues can continue to ignore him.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Green Bay Press-Gazette - Ryan Wood

5 months agoThe Green Bay Packers' defense and special teams unit were a non-factor in the team's 24-14 loss to their NFC North rival Detroit Lions. The Lions were very balanced with 137 yards passing and 124 yards rushing and only gave up 17 points of scoring to the Lions' offense, but the Packers could only muster one sack on Lions quarterback Jared Goff. It wasn't a very fruitful afternoon for the Packers D/ST and they'll get a week off in Week 10 as they'll be on bye. For Week 11's game against Green Bay's rival Chicago Bears, the Packers D/ST should be viewed as a low-end starting unit looking to bounce back against a rookie quarterback in Caleb Williams.--Kevin Tompkins - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

5 months agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs was pretty quiet in the Packers' Week 9 loss to the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions. Doubs was fourth in targets (5) for the Packers and brought in four receptions for 28 yards. Continuing to lead the team in snaps and routes each week, the Packers' third-year wide receiver is a stalwart on the field but does cede some of the target-earning and big-play ability to fellow wide receivers Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, and Dontayvion Wicks. While Doubs is talented in his own right, he's not immune to the ebbs and flows that come with being on a team with so many talented pass-catchers. Doubs and the Packers are off on bye in Week 10, but Doubs should be considered a low-end WR3 or flex play when Green Bay heads down to face their rivals, the Chicago Bears, in Week 11.--Kevin Tompkins - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

5 months agoGreen Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft blended into the background a bit as the Packers suffered defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions 24-14. Kraft has been very productive for fantasy managers this season but his Week 9 output was very quiet. With six targets on the afternoon, Kraft put up just four receptions for 34 yards. Kraft also had one rushing attempt for two yards to convert a fourth-down conversion early on in the game. With the wide array of pass-catchers on the Packers, it can be a bit easier to blend in and with the Lions pressuring quarterback Jordan Love, that's exactly what happened. Kraft and the Packers will have Week 10 off on bye, but will be back on the field in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears. For fantasy purposes, Kraft should be viewed as a low-end TE1 in that matchup.--Kevin Tompkins - RotoBallerSource: ESPN
