Jordan Spieth Targets Another Strong RBC Heritage Showing
4 days agoAfter posting a solid 73-73-69-70 at The Masters, Jordan Spieth finished T14, marking his second consecutive top-15 finish and his fourth of the season. He'll look to build on this performance at the RBC Heritage, where he's competed eight times, winning in 2022 and finishing as the runner-up in 2023. To repeat that success, Spieth will need to be accurate off the tee and precise with his irons. He's been solid in these areas this season, ranking 62nd in strokes gained on approach and 51st in driving accuracy. However, Spieth ranks in just the 19th percentile over the last 12 months in proximity from 150–200 yards, a key range considering 42.5% of all approach shots came from that distance last year. Spieth carries some risk, but his strong track record at Harbour Town makes him a viable option for fantasy managers at his $9,200 price tag on DraftKings.Source: PGA Tour
Kevin Gausman Tosses Another Quality Start In Tuesday's Win
4 days agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman continued his strong start to the season in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Braves. Gausman pitched six innings, allowing two runs on six hits (including two solo home runs) and no walks with six strikeouts. The 34-year-old has looked great after a relatively disappointing 2024, going 2-1 with three quality starts, a 2.49 ERA, a 0.71 WHIP, and a 7.11 K/9 rate in four starts and 25 1/3 IP. The strikeout numbers are still down, but fantasy managers will likely take that tradeoff for the stellar ERA and WHIP. Gausman will face a decent matchup in his next scheduled start, which will be at the Astros.Source: MLB.com
Jasson Dominguez Collects Three Hits, Three RBI Tuesday
4 days agoNew York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez had a productive game at the plate in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Royals. Dominguez went 3-for-3 with two singles, a double, and three RBI. The 22-year-old has had a solid start to the season offensively, slashing .275/.362/.431 with one home run, eight RBI, and two stolen bases in 58 plate appearances. There are some potentially worrisome signs for Dominguez, such as his dreadful .050 batting average against left-handed pitchers and his bottom-five percentile average exit velocity. However, the Martian carries a ton of pedigree and has produced respectable overall numbers, so fantasy managers can be cautiously optimistic at this point.Source: MLB.com
Collin Morikawa Eyeing Victory At RBC Heritage
4 days agoAfter a T14 finish at The Masters, Collin Morikawa has now recorded six straight results of T17 or better to start the season. He'll look to build on this elite form at the RBC Heritage, an event he's played five times, never missing a cut while recording two top-10 finishes. To succeed at Harbour Town, players need to be accurate off the tee and precise on approach, and no one on the PGA Tour has been better than Morikawa in these areas. He ranks first in strokes gained from tee to green (gaining 1.999 strokes per round), first on approach (1.1929 per round), and first in driving accuracy (72.94%). He's also in the 95th percentile over the last 12 months in proximity from 150–200 yards, a key range considering 42.5% of all approach shots came from that distance last year. Morikawa is a home run pick this week, and fantasy managers should invest in his $10,900 price tag on DraftKings.Source: PGA Tour
Jake Irvin Tosses Seven Shutout Innings In Tuesday Win
4 days agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Jake Irvin put forth his best start of the early season in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Pirates. Irvin pitched seven innings, allowing three hits and a walk with six strikeouts. The 28-year-old had been uninspiring before this start, and his season totals now sit at a 1-0 record with a 3.91 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and a 7.04 K/9 rate in four starts and 23 IP. Irvin will draw a tough start in his next scheduled matchup, having to face the Rockies in Coors Field. Irvin has provided fringy fantasy value at best this season, so the unfavorable environment makes him an easy sit decision for his next start.Source: MLB.com
Alex Bregman Collects Five Hits, Four RBI Tuesday
4 days agoBoston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman had an excellent game before heading for paternity leave in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Rays. Bregman went 5-for-5 with two singles, a double, a pair of solo home runs, and four RBI. The 31-year-old lined a third-inning Ryan Pepiot pitch over the right-field wall and later took Hunter Bigge deep to right-center field in the seventh inning. Bregman has had a stellar start to his Red Sox tenure after signing a three-year, $120 million deal this offseason, slashing .321/.365/.564 with four HR, 16 RBI, and a stolen base in 85 plate appearances. The Red Sox's offense has been erratic overall, but Bregman should have plenty of opportunities to provide fantasy value while hitting third in the lineup.Source: MLB.com
Max Homa Breaks Through At The Masters
4 days agoAfter five straight missed cuts, Max Homa finally showed some life at The Masters, posting rounds of 74-70-69-71 en route to a T12 finish. He'll look to build on that momentum at the RBC Heritage, an event he's played three times with results of T55, a missed cut, and a T41. To find success at Harbour Town, players need to be accurate off the tee and precise on approach -- areas where Homa has struggled significantly, ranking 182nd in approach, losing 1.495 strokes per round, and ranking 97th in driving accuracy. However, over the last 12 months, he ranks in the 80th percentile in proximity from 150–200 yards, a key range given that 42.5% of all approach shots came from that distance last year. His showing at The Masters was encouraging, but fantasy managers may want to see more consistency before trusting him in DFS lineups.Source: PGA Tour
Tyler Soderstrom Hits Two Three-Run Homers Tuesday
4 days agoAthletics first baseman Tyler Soderstrom continued his hot start at the plate in Tuesday's 12-3 win over the White Sox. Soderstrom went 3-for-5 with a single and a pair of three-run home runs. The 23-year-old lined a first-inning Sean Burke hanging curve just over the right-field wall, and he later launched a sixth-inning Penn Murfee offering deep into the right-field seats. The former fantasy prospect has started to make good on the promise he offered, slashing .328/.403/.734 with a league-leading eight HR to go with 17 RBI in 72 plate appearances. He is currently rostered in 85 percent of leagues, so he may still be available for fantasy managers looking for higher-end power.Source: MLB.com
Corbin Carroll Hits Grand Slam, Plates Five Tuesday
4 days agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll continued his power surge in Tuesday's 10-4 win over the Marlins. Carroll went 2-for-5 with a double, a grand slam, and five RBI. The 24-year-old clobbered a sixth-inning George Soriano fastball into the right-field upper deck to put the D-backs ahead 10-1. Surprisingly, Carroll's main fantasy attribute so far in 2025 has switched from speed to power, as he is slashing .338/.423/.735 with six home runs, 15 RBI, and one stolen base in one attempt. This may not have been what fantasy managers expected from him, but they can't complain about his overall production. His speed is still a major threat, and he has plenty of time to accumulate stolen bases.Source: MLB.com
Weston Wilson Moves Rehab Assignment To Triple-A
4 days agoThe Philadelphia Phillies announced on Tuesday that infielder/outfielder Weston Wilson's (oblique) minor-league rehab assignment has been moved to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Wilson began the 2025 season on the injured list due to a strained left oblique that he suffered in spring training, but the 30-year-old veteran is progressing on his rehab assignment and should be an option for the big-league roster as outfield depth before the end of April. In four rehab games to this point with Single-A Clearwater, he has just one hit in 10 at-bats with a stolen base, four walks and three runs scored over 14 plate appearances. Wilson was scheduled to play nine innings at second base on Tuesday at Lehigh Valley before most likely seeing action in the outfield later this week. In 40 games with the Phils in 2024, Wilson hit .284/.347/.489 with an .836 OPS, three homers, 10 RBI and three steals in 98 plate appearances.Source: Philadelphia Phillies
Noelvi Marte Heads Back To Triple-A
4 days agoThe Cincinnati Reds announced on Tuesday that they optioned infielder Noelvi Marte to Triple-A Louisville. Marte was one of the odd men out with infielder Matt McLain (hamstring) and outfielder Austin Hays (calf) both returning from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. Marte was brought up to Cincy as infield depth when McLain landed on the injured list, but the 23-year-old only appeared in three games and went 1-for-6 at the plate with a steal, two runs scored, and a walk in seven plate appearances. He'll now head back to the farm and bide his time there before eventually getting another shot in the big leagues with the Reds at some point this year. Marte was suspended 80 games last year, and when he returned, he really struggled at the plate. He has an intriguing power-speed combination, but he's facing an uphill battle for playing time in the majors.Source: Cincinnati Reds
Endy Rodriguez Lands On Injured List
4 days agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates placed catcher Endy Rodriguez (finger) on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday after he exited Monday's contest against the Washington Nationals with a right index-finger laceration that required stitches, sources told MLB.com's Alex Stumpf. In a corresponding move, the Pirates recalled right-hander Chase Shugart from the minors. Shugart threw 3 2/3 scoreless relief innings for the Bucs in his first stint with the team. With Rodriguez now on the IL and Joey Bart still nursing a back injury, Henry Davis got the start behind the dish on Tuesday and went 1-for-3 in the 3-0 loss. The fact that the Pirates didn't call up an additional catcher suggests that Bart is getting close to a return. The 24-year-old switch-hitting Rodriguez started the year 8-for-45 (.178) with no home runs, three doubles and two RBI and will be a backup catcher/first baseman when he returns from the IL.Source: MLB.com - Alex Stumpf
Trevor Megill Ready To Go
4 days agoMLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports that Milwaukee Brewers right-handed reliever Trevor Megill (knee) was available to pitch in Sunday's series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks and in Monday's series opener against the Detroit Tigers. Megill blew the save and took the loss against Arizona on Saturday by allowing three earned runs on two hits while walking three, and then he revealed that he recently underwent an MRI exam on his knee. After seeking a second opinion, the 31-year-old veteran is apparently alright to continue pitching, but he has not appeared since his blowup outings on Saturday. Megill's performance is worth keeping a close eye on after his knee injury, but as things stand now, he should still be considered the Brewers' favorite for save opportunities. However, he has only one save so far in 2025 to go with a bloated 5.79 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in 4 2/3 innings.Source: MLB.com - Adam McCalvy
Tobias Myers To Make Next Rehab Start On Friday
4 days agoMilwaukee Brewers right-hander Tobias Myers (oblique) is scheduled to throw 65 to 70 pitches in his next minor-league rehab start on Friday for Triple-A Nashville, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. After that, Myers could return to the major-league starting rotation to face the San Francisco Giants next week. The 26-year-old's rehab start on Friday will be his third after working his way back from a left-oblique strain that he suffered in mid-March in spring training. Although he only struck out three total batters, Myers looked sharp in his first two rehab starts, allowing three earned runs on eight hits while walking three in 8 1/3 inning pitched. Myers was great down the stretch for the Brew Crew and finished with an impressive 3.00 ERA and 1.17 WHIP, but he had a below-average strikeout rate, which will limit his chances for a breakout in 2025. Still, he's worth a look for rotation depth in deep-mixed leagues if he's available.Source: MLB.com - Adam McCalvy
Brandon Woodruff To Go Four Innings In Thursday's Rehab Start
4 days agoMilwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) is scheduled to pitch four innings in his next minor-league rehab start on Thursday for Triple-A Nashville. After that, Woodruff will be scheduled for some five-inning outings to ensure that he keeps bouncing back, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. In his first rehab start on Saturday for Nashville, Woodruff gave up two earned runs on four hits while walking two and striking out five in 3 2/3 innings. The 32-year-old veteran missed the entire 2023 campaign after having right-shoulder surgery, so his fantasy value is going to be limited while on an innings limit in 2025 whenever he returns. Barring a setback with his shoulder, though, Woodruff should be ready to make his season debut in early May. He was an ace prior to his shoulder injury in 2023, making him worth stashing in all fantasy leagues.Source: MLB.com - Adam McCalvy
Bobby Miller To Start On Wednesday Against Rockies
4 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers right-hander Bobby Miller will be called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City to make the start against the division-rival Colorado Rockies on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium. Miller will be making his first big-league start of the 2025 season after struggling to the tune of an 8.52 ERA (6.97 FIP), 1.77 WHIP and 52:30 K:BB in 13 starts over 56 innings in his second major-league season with L.A. in 2024. The 26-year-old only allowed three earned runs in 12 innings over three appearances (two starts) for OKC while striking out 11, but he also walked 11. The matchup will be an excellent one on Wednesday in his spot start against the last-place Rockies, but he'll be a volatile fantasy streamer in deeper leagues and for those playing DFS. In his rookie year in 2023, Miller had a 3.76 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with 119 K's and 32 walks in 22 starts.Source: The Los Angeles Times - Jack Harris
Keider Montero To Start On Wednesday Against Milwaukee
4 days agoDetroit Tigers right-hander Keider Montero is with the team in Milwaukee and will make the start on Wednesday at American Family Field. Nobody else in the starting rotation is hurt, but manager A.J. Hinch wants to push the rotation back a day during a 23-game, 24-day stretch of games. The 24-year-old Montero will be making his first big-league start of the year for the Tigers after going 6-6 with a 4.76 ERA (5.15 FIP) and 1.33 WHIP with 77 strikeouts and 31 walks in 19 outings (16 starts) over 98 1/3 innings in his rookie season in 2024. The Venezuelan hurler started the year off at Triple-A Toledo by giving up three earned runs on six hits while walking only one and striking out 11 in 9 2/3 inning in his two starts with the Mud Hens. Montero has high-end potential but didn't strike out that many a year ago and was unsurprisingly inconsistent. He'll be a pretty shaky fantasy streamer in Milwaukee.Source: Detroit News - Chris McCosky

Matt Wallner Suffers Hamstring Injury On Tuesday
4 days agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Matt Wallner (hamstring) was removed from Tuesday's 6-3 win over the New York Mets early due to left-hamstring tightness, according to the team. Wallner injured his hamstring in the first inning on an infield single and was replaced by pinch-runner DaShawn Keirsey Jr. At the very least, Wallner will probably be out of Wednesday's contest against the Mets, and it's possible he could miss much more time, depending on the severity of the injury. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Wednesday for more information on his injury. The 27-year-old entered Tuesday's contest with a .250 average (14-for-56) with one home run, three RBI and seven runs scored in 17 games as an everyday starter in the outfield. If Wallner is forced to miss extended time due to his hamstring injury, Harrison Bader would likely be the beneficiary of extra playing time.Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Betsy Helfand
Carlos Correa Departs Monday's Game With Wrist Soreness
4 days agoMinnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa (wrist) left Tuesday's 6-3 win over the New York Mets early due to left-wrist soreness, according to the team. Correa appeared to injure his wrist after taking a swing in the fifth inning. The 30-year-old went 1-for-2 with an RBI before departing. Willi Castro moved from third base to shortstop after Correa's injury, with Brooks Lee entering the contest to play third base. Correa will likely go for testing after the game, at which point we should have a better idea of the severity of his wrist injury on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. It's certainly a concerning development for the Twins, especially since Matt Wallner (hamstring) also left this game with an injury. In addition to his injury, Correa entered Tuesday's game hitting just .153 (9-for-59) with no home runs. Lee would be in line for regular playing time if Correa is forced to the injured list.Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Betsy Helfand
Tony Finau A Hard Player To Trust At RBC Heritage
4 days agoDespite gaining over 2.6 strokes from tee to green at The Masters, Tony Finau was unable to make the cut, surrendering nearly 4.5 strokes putting, marking his fourth missed cut of the season. He'll look to bounce back at this week's RBC Heritage, an event he's competed in five times, making the cut four times and recording four straight finishes of T39 or better. To find success at Harbour Town, players need to be accurate off the tee and precise on approach, areas where Finau has struggled, ranking 126th in approach, losing 0.167 strokes per round, and ranking 95th in driving accuracy. However, over the last 12 months, Finau ranks in the 82nd percentile in proximity from 150–200 yards, a key range given that 42.5% of all approach shots came from that distance last year. Finau is a solid bounce-back candidate, but his extreme volatility makes him hard to trust, even at his $7,100 price tag on DraftKings.Source: Data Golf
Jake Cronenworth Could Be Out A Month-Plus
4 days agoThe San Diego Union-Tribune's Jeff Sanders reports that San Diego Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth (ribs) could miss more than a month due to a non-displaced fracture in his ribs after he was hit by a pitch in Chicago on April 6. Cronenworth started the next two games against the Athletics but was pulled early in the second game before being placed on the injured list late last week. The 31-year-old probably won't be ready to be activated from the IL when he's eligible this Saturday, April 19. While Crone is sidelined, the light-hitting Jose Iglesias will see most of the action at the keystone, with the lefty-hitting Tyler Wade being another option. Fantasy managers stashing Cronenworth will need to be patient, as he might not be back until early May. He was hitting .257 (9-for-35) with two home runs, five RBI and seven runs scored in his first 12 games in 2025 before injuring his ribs.Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Jeff Sanders
Bryan Hoeing Mixes In Breaking Balls In Tuesday's Bullpen
4 days agoSan Diego Padres right-handed reliever Bryan Hoeing (shoulder) threw another bullpen session on Tuesday and mixed in breaking pitches for the first time. Hoeing was placed on the 15-day injured list at the end of March after being delayed at the start of spring training with a right-shoulder injury. The 28-year-old is recovering from a strained right shoulder but appears to be getting close to going on a minor-league rehab assignment. If Hoeing can avoid a setback once he begins facing live hitters, he could return to San Diego's big-league bullpen before the end of April. After beginning last year with the Miami Marlins, Hoeing had a career-low 1.52 ERA and 0.80 WHIP with 18 strikeouts and five walks in 23 2/3 relief innings for the Friars in the second half of the season. Hoeing will return to a key setup role for SD when he's activated from the IL.Source: MLB.com - AJ Cassavell
Yu Darvish Plays Catch Off Mound
4 days agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Yu Darvish (elbow) played catch off of the mound on Tuesday, writes AJ Cassavell of MLB.com. It's a step in the right direction for Darvish, who still figures to be a ways away despite reportedly also playing loss toss out to 180 feet recently. There is no set timetable for his return, but the next step in his recovery will be throwing bullpens when he is ready. He landed on the injured list at the start of the season after dealing with elbow inflammation during the spring. He has struggled to stay healthy in recent years but remained productive when he takes the mound, posting a 3.31 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 16 starts in 2024. Darvish is likely at least three weeks away from coming off the injured list.Source: AJ Cassavell
Corey Conners Looking To Keep Momentum Going At RBC Heritage
4 days agoCorey Conners was in contention at The Masters for much of the week but ultimately faltered on Sunday, recording a T8 finish. Still, he extended his top-25 streak to six events, including four top-eight results. He'll look to carry that momentum into this week's RBC Heritage, an event he's played eight times, making five straight cuts and earning three top-25 finishes. To continue finding success at Harbour Town, Conners will need to stay accurate off the tee and sharp on approach, two areas where he consistently excels. He ranks 17th in driving accuracy and sits in the 98th percentile in proximity from 150–200 yards, a key range given that 42.5% of all approach shots came from that distance last year. It's a loaded DFS board this week at the top, but Conners warrants serious consideration at his $9,800 price tag on DraftKings.Source: Data Golf
Jackson Merrill Ramping Up
4 days agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Jackson Merrill (hamstring) is ramping up to baseball activity, according to AJ Cassavell of MLB.com. He was on the field for early batting practice and practiced bunting, but wasn't doing any running yet. There's still no definite timetable for Merrill, who is recovering from a right hamstring strain that he suffered during the first week of April. At the time, he had already racked up three home runs and 10 RBI with a .378 batting average through his first 10 games.Source: AJ Cassavell
Michael Toglia Absent On Tuesday
4 days agoColorado Rockies first baseman Michael Toglia is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Dodgers. He'll take a breather for the first time this season after starting each of the team's first 16 games. Hopefully, the rest can give him time to reset and break out of his early-season slump, as he's batting just .167 with no home runs. Kyle Farmer will get the start at first base in his place.Source: MLB.com
Brenton Doyle Still Sitting On Tuesday
4 days agoColorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle (quadriceps) is missing from Tuesday's lineup against the Dodgers. This is now his fifth straight missed game with a sore left quad, with Mickey Moniak picking up another start in center field. Despite the lengthy absence, Doyle isn't expected to require an IL stint and remains day-to-day. He's carried over his breakout performance from 2024 into this season so far, batting .321 with three homers through 12 games.Source: MLB.com
Carson Kelly Sitting Again On Tuesday
4 days agoChicago Cubs catcher Carson Kelly (hand) is out of the lineup for the second straight day on Tuesday against the Padres. He was hit in the hand by a pitch on Sunday, and while the x-rays came back negative, he's yet to see the field since. Miguel Amaya will get the start instead, who has handled the majority of the catching duties this year for Chicago. Kelly remains day-to-day, with manager Craig Counsell hoping he will be available again sometime this week. Despite the limited plate appearances, he's launched four homers with a .417 batting average in the nine games he has played.Source: MLB.com
Moses Moody Available Versus Memphis
4 days agoGolden State Warriors forward Moses Moody (back) will play on Tuesday versus Memphis. He began experiencing back tightness on Tuesday morning, resulting in a questionable tag. But the 22-year-old had no issues going through pre-game warmups. With Moody on the floor, Buddy Hield, who would have been in line to start, likely won't be as productive for DFS managers.Source: Danny Emerman
