Chayce McDermott Will Face Hitters Next Week
3 days agoBaltimore Orioles pitching prospect Chayce McDermott (lat) is expected to face live hitters next week and could return before the end of May. McDermott has been sidelined since the start of the campaign due to a right lat strain. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression, but it appears the Ball State product is nearing a return to action. Last summer, McDermott made his MLB debut and logged four innings in the major leagues. He spent most of the season with Triple-A Norfolk, where he logged 100 innings of work to the tune of a 3.78 ERA with a 1.41 WHIP. He struck out an impressive 144 batters but served up a high 60 free passes. When McDermott returns to action, he should contend for a return to the big leagues later in the summer.Source: Jake Rill

Logan O'Hoppe Getting A Day Off To Rest After Illness
3 days agoLos Angeles Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe (illness) was sick during Monday's off day with stomach issues, according to MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger. Although O'Hoppe feels better on Tuesday, he will get the day off for the series opener in Texas against the division-rival Rangers. He expects to be back in the lineup on Wednesday as the series continues. With O'Hoppe out on Tuesday, Travis d'Arnaud will catch left-hander Yusei Kikuchi and will hit fifth against Rangers right-hander Tyler Mahle. Fantasy managers will want to get O'Hoppe back in their starting lineups on Wednesday, as the 25-year-old starting backstop is off to a great start with the bat in 2025, going 16-for-48 (.333) with five home runs, nine RBI and seven runs scored for the Halos. d'Arnaud has gone 2-for-18 with no homers early on, but he'll be a DFS sleeper at the shallow catching position against Mahle.Source: MLB.com - Rhett Bollinger
Samuel Basallo Could Return To DH Duties Later In April
3 days agoBaltimore Orioles catching prospect Samuel Basallo (elbow/hamstring) is expected to return to DH duties later in April and could return to catching in May. The top catching prospect in the sport is dealing with a mild left hamstring and right elbow inflammation. The 20-year-old was placed on the 7-day injured list after the first seven games of the Triple-A regular season. During the opening week, Basallo held a .250/.318/.550 slash line with two round-trippers. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression as he could push for an MLB debut later in the summer. Last season, Basallo spent most of the campaign with Double-A before earning a brief taste of Triple-A. In 106 games with Double-A Bowie, Basallo posted a strong .289/.355/.465 line. He remains a high-end asset in all dynasty formats.Source: Jake Rill
Victor Scott II Out Against Astros
3 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Victor Scott II is out of the starting lineup for Game 2 of the series against the visiting Houston Astros at Busch Stadium on Tuesday. Michael Siani will get the nod in center field and will bat ninth against Astros right-hander Hunter Brown. Scott is St. Louis' primary center fielder, but he'll get a day to rest after going 3-for-17 with six strikeouts in his last five games to drop his season line to .259/.328/.389 with a .717 OPS. The 24-year-old has one homer, seven RBI, seven runs scored and five stolen bases in his first 54 at-bats. Scott should be back in there on Wednesday as he looks to get back on track with the bat. Siani, who has never faced Brown in his career, will be a low-upside DFS play out of the nine-hole on Tuesday. He has gone just 2-for-9 with two runs scored early on in 2025 as a bench player for the Cards.Source: MLB.com
Gabriel Landeskog Could Be An Option For Playoff Opener
3 days agoColorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog (knee) appears to be nearing his NHL return. On Tuesday, he rejoined the team after a two-game conditioning stint in the AHL, marking his first outings since 2022. He played on back-to-back days, which is a positive sign that the Avalanche captain might be prepared to make his NHL comeback when the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs begin. "I think it's exciting for us, because it may give us another option here when we get to the weekend and start playing playoff games," Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said. "I got to make lineup decisions too at some point here, and we're talking about a bunch of different scenarios. So yeah, could be a ramp-up for Game 1. Maybe not. We'll just have to see how the week goes." Adding a proven playoff performer like Landeskog into the mix would be a major boost for Colorado. The Swedish veteran registered 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) in 20 postseason games during the Avalanche's triumphant Stanley Cup run in 2022.Source: NHL.com
Enrique Bradfield Jr. Targeting Mid-May Return
3 days agoBaltimore Orioles outfield prospect Enrique Bradfield Jr. (hamstring) has a mild left hamstring strain and could return to action in mid-May. Bradfield hit the Double-A injured list earlier in April. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears the former 17th overall pick appears to have avoided a significant injury. During his first six games of the Double-A campaign, Bradfield was swinging a hot bat as he posted a stellar .389/.476/.556 slash line with one double and two stolen bases. Last summer, Bradfield spent most of the season with High-A before receiving a brief look at Double-A. Across 81 games with High-A, Bradfield held a .267 AVG with an impressive 59 stolen bases. Fantasy managers should expect the 23-year-old to spend most of the season with Double-A Chesapeake when he returns to action.Source: Jake Rill
Jake Middleton Returns From Four-Game Absence
3 days agoMinnesota Wild defenseman Jake Middleton (upper body) has been cleared to return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Anaheim Ducks. He has recovered from an upper-body injury, which sidelined Middleton for four games. The 29-year-old has scored a career-high eight goals this season while notching 20 points, 155 blocks, and 98 hits across 66 appearances. Minnesota's defense will also have Jared Spurgeon (neck) back on Tuesday, meaning Declan Chisholm and Cameron Crotty will exit the lineup. The Wild are expected to rely significantly on their top-four group at the back Tuesday, as the team requires just one more point to clinch a postseason berth.Source: NHL.com
Cooper Hjerpe Undergoes Tommy John Surgery
3 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitching prospect Cooper Hjerpe (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery and has been transferred from the 7-day injured list to the full-season injured list. According to the team, the left-hander is expected to return mid-season 2026. The 24-year-old was limited to just 52 innings of work last season due to numerous innings and will now face an extended absence. Across his 52 innings, Hjerpe spent time with High-A and Double-A. With High-A Peoria, the former 22nd overall pick posted a 3.35 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP. Then, during his first 14 2/3 innings with Double-A, the Oregon State product posted a strong 3.07 ERA with a 0.95 WHIP. Hjerpe is currently considered the No. 6 prospect in the system on MLB Pipeline and will likely not make his MLB debut until 2027 due to the injury.Source: St. Louis Cardinals
Trae Young Cleared To Face Orlando
3 days agoAtlanta Hawks guard Trae Young (Achilles) is available for Tuesday's Play-In showdown with the Orlando Magic. The former Oklahoma Sooner was listed as probable due to the Achilles Tendinitis that plagued him for most of the 2024-25 campaign. However, he'll be out there for the Southeast Division matchup. Young has faced Orlando three times this season, averaging 28.3 points, 8.0 assists, and 26.7% shooting from deep.Source: NBA Injury Report
Jared Spurgeon Available Against Ducks
3 days agoMinnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon (neck) will be in the lineup on Tuesday against the Anaheim Ducks. The Wild captain was unable to play on Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks after taking a puck to the throat the previous night in a matchup versus the Calgary Flames. However, he has been cleared for Tuesday's potential playoff clincher. Spurgeon brings a wealth of experience and quality at both ends to the lineup. He has recorded 32 points (seven goals, 25 assists), 106 shots, 116 blocks, and 53 hits in 65 contests this season.Source: NHL.com
Logan Henderson Promoted To Major Leagues
3 days agoThe Milwaukee Brewers promoted pitching prospect Logan Henderson to the major league roster. In a corresponding move, the Brewers optioned right-handed pitcher Elvin Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville. After allowing five runs in his season debut, Henderson has flipped the script at Triple-A and is being rewarded with a promotion. Over his last two outings, Henderson has tossed back-to-back five-inning shutouts. During this stretch, he has allowed just three hits and seven walks. He has struck out 16 batters. Due to the numerous injuries in the Milwaukee rotation, fantasy managers should expect the right-hander to see opportunities in the rotation. Currently, Quinn Priester and Jose Quintana are set to start the final two games of their series against the Tigers, which could set Henderson up for his big league debut over the weekend, against the Athletics.Source: Milwaukee Brewers
Josh Giddey Expected To Play On Wednesday Night
3 days agoChicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey (forearm) is probable heading into Wednesday's Play-In matchup against the visiting Heat. He missed the final two games of the regular season. But head coach Billy Donovan remains optimistic Giddey will be out there versus Miami. If that's the case, Julian Phillips, coming off a nine-point, seven-assist, two-steal performance, will presumably head back to the bench.Source: NBA Injury Report
Ilya Samsonov Returns To Vegas Crease Tuesday
3 days agoVegas Golden Knights goaltender Ilya Samsonov (upper body) will return to work on Tuesday against the Calgary Flames. The Russian netminder hasn't seen any action since March 23, missing eight games due to an upper-body injury. Samsonov boasts a solid 16-9-3 record as Vegas' backup, having allowed 2.79 goals with a .892 save percentage and two shutouts. He faces the NHL's third-lowest scoring side on Tuesday. However, Vegas is without several key players and squares off against a team that's battling for a playoff spot, so Tuesday's contest will likely not be a cakewalk for Samsonov.Source: Pat Steinberg
Cubs Option Matt Shaw To Triple-A
3 days agoThe Chicago Cubs have optioned third baseman Matt Shaw to Triple-A Iowa. Shaw was able to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster out of spring training but will be sent back to the minor leagues to continue his development. Through his first 18 games in the majors, the Maryland product posted a modest .172/.294/.241 slash line with two doubles and one home run. Shaw drew walks at a strong 14.7 percent rate but generated a weak .272 xwOBA. In addition, Shaw posted a hefty 26.5 percent strikeout rate with a 30.8 percent whiff rate. Last summer, the former 13th overall from the 2023 MLB Draft performed very well in Double-A and Triple-A. Across 121 games split between the upper levels, Shaw posted a stellar .284/.379/.488 slash line with 21 long balls. Fantasy managers should expect Justin Turner and Jon Berti to split time at the hot corner going forward.Source: Keith Law
Noah Hanifin To Be Rested Against Flames
3 days agoVegas Golden Knights defenseman Noah Hanifin (rest) will not be in the lineup on Tuesday against the Calgary Flames. Having played in all 80 games so far, Hanifin will take Tuesday night off to rest. The 28-year-old has been rock-solid throughout the campaign with Vegas, registering 39 points (10 goals, 29 assists), 145 shots, 106 blocks, and a plus-eight rating. With Alex Pietrangelo (undisclosed) remaining sidelined, Zach Whitecloud and Nicolas Hague (illness) will see increased usage in the Vegas defense. The latter is expected to return to the lineup on Tuesday after missing three games due to an illness.Source: Pat Steinberg
Moses Moody Added To The Injury Report
3 days agoGolden State Warriors forward Moses Moody (back) is now questionable for Tuesday's Play-In game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The 24-year-old has started 34 games for the Warriors this season. Unfortunately, he popped up on the Injury report because of back spasms, putting his availability in jeopardy. If Moody can't suit up, Buddy Hield, averaging 12.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 22 starts during the 2024-25 campaign, will likely slide into the starting lineup.Source: NBA Injury Report
Mark Stone Sits Out Tuesday's Action
3 days agoVegas Golden Knights right wing Mark Stone (rest) will exit the lineup for Tuesday's tilt against the Calgary Flames. The Golden Knights will rest their captain for the contest, with Stone joining Jack Eichel (upper body) on the sidelines. Stone has struggled recently, posting only one point in seven games, and will likely welcome the opportunity to take some time off to reset. He has recorded 67 points (19 goals, 48 assists) in 66 games for the entire campaign. With two-thirds of Vegas' top line missing, players like Tomas Hertl, William Karlsson, and Brandon Saad will hold extra fantasy value.Source: Pat Steinberg
Oliver Ekman-Larsson Expected To Return For Postseason
3 days agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson (upper body) will remain on the shelf for Tuesday's encounter with the Buffalo Sabres but is expected to be ready to rejoin the lineup when the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs begin. Ekman-Larsson, a Stanley Cup winner from last year with the Florida Panthers, made 77 appearances with the Maple Leafs before suffering a late-season injury blow. He has recorded 29 points (four goals, 25 assists), 118 shots, 83 blocks, and 108 hits with a plus-14 rating. Jake McCabe (upper body) is also currently absent from the Maple Leafs defense, providing Dakota Mermis and Philippe Myers with playing opportunities.Source: ESPN
Owen Power To Miss Rest Of Regular Season
3 days agoBuffalo Sabres defenseman Owen Power (lower body) will be out of action for the remainder of the regular season. He suffered a lower-body injury on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning and is sitting out a second consecutive game on Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. "Don't really have a time frame yet, but it looks to be [serious]," Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said about Power's injury. "We'll have more information, a further follow-up today and the next couple days." Power posted a career-high 40 points (seven goals, 33 assists) in 79 games with 139 shots and 109 blocks. In Power's absence, Jacob Bryson has rejoined the lineup.Source: NHL.com
Viktor Hovland Remains Volatile Ahead Of RBC Heritage
3 days agoAfter his win in Florida a few weeks ago, Viktor Hovland found himself in the mix of things at The Masters going into the weekend before back-to-back 73s thwarted his chances at a green jacket. The approach play remains high, as his week at Augusta was the fourth consecutive event averaging more than a stroke gained per round with his irons. His deficiencies around the greens and severe streakiness with the putter make him a touch choice every week, and while his work from tee to green may do enough to make the cut this week, it likely won't do enough to make his $10,700 price tag worth it.Source: Data Golf
Ronald Acuna Jr. Cleared To Begin Ramping Up Baseball Activity
3 days agoThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Justin Toscano reports that Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) has been cleared to ramp up his baseball activity and begin progressing toward a minor-league rehab assignment. There remains no firm timetable for when Acuna might make his 2025 debut, but he appears to be on a scheduled to return at some point in the next month, as previously thought. The 27-year-old is recovering from surgery to fix a torn ACL in his left knee last year and won't be available to fantasy managers until May. Acuna has been hitting for a while now, but he will now ramp up his running program Until he's able to return, Jarred Kelenic will continue to see the majority of starts in right field for Atlanta. Acuna, a former MVP, has the ability to be a fantasy difference-maker when he's healthy, so he should be rostered in all fantasy leagues.Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - Justin Toscano
Stefan Noesen Returns To Action Tuesday
3 days agoNew Jersey Devils winger Stefan Noesen (rest) will rejoin the action on Tuesday against the Boston Bruins. The team will have him back in the lineup after Noesen was rested for Sunday's tilt against the New York Islanders. Noesen's return will bump Timo Meier down from the first line. 2024-25 has been a big campaign for Noesen, with a career-high 40 points (21 goals, 19 assists) and 150 hits in 77 appearances. The 32-year-old has scored in both of his two appearances against the Bruins this season.Source: NHL.com
Edouard Julien In Leadoff Spot Again On Tuesday
3 days agoMinnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien is starting at second base and batting leadoff for the Twins in Game 2 of their series against the visiting New York Mets at Target Field on Tuesday. Julien will be facing right-hander Tylor Megill. The Twins are trying to scrape together offense after a slow start to the season, and this marks the third straight game that Julien will operate at the top of the batting order. The 25-year-old Canadian has become a fixture in Minnesota's starting lineup as well. The third-year infielder has gone 11-for-43 (.256) in the early going in 2025 with a home run, three doubles, four RBI, two runs scored, two walks and 12 strikeouts in 15 games played. Julien's move to the leadoff spot is good news for his fantasy value if he can stick there, but he still represents somewhat of a lackluster DFS play against Megill on Tuesday.Source: MLB.com
Russell Henley To Bounce Back At RBC Heritage
3 days agoIt was a frustrating week at Augusta National for Russell Henley, as he was a dark horse pick for many people before losing nearly three strokes on and around the greens during the first two rounds. The damage was done on Thursday's opening round, 79, as he backed it up with a -4 under, 68 on Friday. The former Georgia Bulldog still performed well off the tee and on approach, which has been a mainstay all season. Harbour Town seems like a perfect course fit for someone of Henley's skillset, and he's found some success here in recent years. Given that a fall-off in putting is uncharacteristic for him and the ball striking remains solid, there should be little worry about putting him in lineups again this week.Source: Data Golf
Claude Giroux Won't Play On Tuesday
3 days agoOttawa Senators forward Claude Giroux (rest) will not be in action on Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks. The veteran star has been ever-present for the Senators this season, appearing in all 80 games, but he will sit out Tuesday's contest for rest purposes. While Giroux's best days may be behind him, he has still put together a 50-point campaign, registering 15 goals and 35 assists. David Perron (rest) and Ridly Greig (rest) are slated to return on Tuesday and could both take on top-six roles. This would enhance their fantasy value in a favorable matchup against the NHL's second-worst defense.Source: Claire Hanna
Colton Cowser Targeting Late-May, Early-June Return
3 days agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Colton Cowser (thumb) continues to improve from a fractured left thumb and is targeting a late-May, early-June return, according to general manager Mike Elias. Cowser initially suffered his broken thumb at the end of March and was given a six- to eight-week timetable. He went 2-for-16 with a home run and an RBI in his first four games this year before getting injured, but Cowser deserves to be held in most fantasy formats due to his potential for a breakout when healthy. The 25-year-old slashed .242/.321/.447 with 24 home runs, 69 RBI, nine stolen bases and 77 runs scored in 153 games in 2024 in his first full season in the majors. Until Cowser is able to return, Heston Kjerstad should continue to see regular at-bats as the team's primary left fielder. Kjerstad has so far been cold, batting .222 (8-for-36) with a homer, two doubles and six RBI in 13 games played.Source: MLB.com - Jake Rill
Jake Sanderson Resting Against Blackhawks
3 days agoOttawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson (rest) will skip Tuesday's contest against the Chicago Blackhawks. Ottawa will give one of its key players some rest before the postseason. Sanderson has enjoyed a hugely successful campaign in 2024-25, notching a career-high 55 points (11 goals, 44 assists) in 79 games while blocking a team-high 163 shots. Thomas Chabot will carry additional fantasy value on Tuesday as Sanderson's replacement on the first power-play unit. He has recently boosted his productivity, totaling nine points (two goals, seven assists) during a five-game scoring streak. Nick Jensen (rest) will also exit the lineup on Tuesday, which will increase the workload of the remaining defensemen.Source: Claire Hanna
Jackson Holliday Out Versus Southpaw
3 days agoBaltimore Orioles second baseman Jackson Holliday is getting a breather against a left-handed pitcher on Tuesday versus the visiting Cleveland Guardians at Camden Yards. Jorge Mateo will draw into the starting lineup at the keystone and will bat ninth against Guardians left-hander Logan Allen. The Orioles have protected Holliday from left-handed pitching this year as he continues to develop at the major-league level. The 21-year-old former top prospect has gotten off to a slow start offensively in his first full season in the big leagues, going 10-for-47 (.213) with a homer, double, triple, four RBI, one steal, four runs scored, one walk and 12 strikeouts in 13 games played. He will continue to play regularly at second in Baltimore, but the O's could continue to shield him from lefty starters. Mateo offers speed but will have little DFS upside in the nine-hole. He's still searching for his first hit this year.Source: MLB.com
Jason Day Making Eighth Career Start At Harbour Town
3 days agoIt was a disappointing weekend at Augusta for Jason Day, as he shot rounds of 71 and 72 to finish T8 in the year's first major. A factor for much of the tournament, he lost some form from tee to green over the final two rounds while failing to convert a couple of close birdie looks. It was still a successful week for the 37-year-old, who is beginning to leak some oil in the ball-striking side of his game. Over his last four starts, he's lost strokes on approach and off the tee in two. Putting and chipping have undoubtedly been saving his rounds, which may have bigger consequences this week at Harbour Town Golf Links. He's posted decent finishes here in the past, but nothing repetitive or noteworthy. At $10,400, Day is a flashy name that may be better left on the sidelines.Source: Data Golf
