2 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs (ankle) was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. Downs had yet to take the field this season due to the injury. After previously stating that he plans to play in Week 3, Downs' official practice participation suggests that that is true. Downs is a talented young receiver for an offense that is growing together. He recorded 68 receptions for 771 yards and two touchdowns in 2023. Downs is not someone you should start in Week 3 but he is worth a stash if you have space on your bench. Either way, he should substantially help quarterback Anthony Richardson as a short-yardage target.Source: NFL.com

2 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts placed standout defensive tackle DeForest Buckner (ankle) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. Buckner was injured in Week 2 against the Packers and will now have to sit out at least four games. Buckner has been a game-wrecker for a Colts defense lacking high-end playmakers. He already recorded 1.5 sacks in Week 1 against the Texans. He only had one tackle prior to his exit from the Packers game. The loss of Buckner hurts both the Colts' offense and defense. Buckner's ability to disrupt the backfield of opposing teams helps give the Colts' offense shorter fields to work with. The Colts will certainly hope to have Buckner back sooner rather than later.Source: Ari Meirov
2 months agoIndianapolis Colts defensive lineman DeForest Buckner (ankle), who has been one of the league's most durable players, suffered an ankle sprain in the Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers that is expected to make him a long shot to suit up in Week 3 versus the Chicago Bears, according to sources. X-rays were negative on Buckner, and he's set to undergo an MRI exam. The belief is that the sprain isn't severe, but fantasy managers with Buckner in IDP formats shouldn't count on having him for at least this week. The 30-year-old pass-rusher had to be carted to the locker room at Lambeau Field on Sunday and could end up missing more than just one game. Indy's pass rush will be at less than full strength for however long the three-time Pro Bowler is sidelined. Buckner has seven total tackles and 1.5 sacks through the first two weeks of the 2024 season.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
2 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Adonai Mitchell caught just one of his four targets for a 30-yard gain in the team's Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers. This now marks the second week in a row Mitchell saw favorable targets and air yards but has been unable to turn them into fantasy production. Mitchell's speed and separation abilities are undeniable, but he hasn't shown that he has a safe enough floor as a member of this Colts offense to warrant starting him with confidence in lineups. On top of that, the Colts are expecting WR Josh Downs (knee) to return back to the fold eventually, and it's unclear who's snap share will take the largest hit as a result. Fantasy managers will need to monitor Downs' Week 3 status before closely starting Mitchell in lineups, and even then, he can be considered a boom-or-bust WR4 option with the hopes that he can connect on a deep ball or two from Richardson.Source: ESPN
2 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. caught just three of his seven targets for 21 yards in the team's loss to the Green Bay Packers. This now makes the second week in a row Pittman was the most targeted pass-catcher but has been unable to convert the target share into fantasy production. The Colts' passing offense remains unpredictable, with QB Anthony Richardson at the helm as volume remains relatively low. Although it is another bust of a week for Pittman, he remains the No. 1 option for Richardson which should help ease the worries of fantasy managers. Fantasy managers in more shallow leagues can consider benching him next week until it's seen that he and Richardson's chemistry can materialize. Still, managers in deeper formats can look to include him as a WR3 option in the team's Week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears.Source: ESPN

2 months agoIndianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson completed 17 of his 34 attempts for 204 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions in the team's loss to the Green Bay Packers. He also ran the ball four times for another 37 yards on the ground. Despite coming off a huge fantasy showing in Week 1, Richardson showed his limitations as a passer and was not able to compensate with his rushing ability in Sunday's matchup. Richardson was able to find WR Alec Pierce in the fourth quarter for a touchdown, which helped boost his fantasy production. Sunday's matchup was an unfortunate mix of low passing volume, limited rushing, and turnovers that kept Richardson from having a strong fantasy outing. He does face a tougher matchup in Week 3 when the Colts host the Chicago Bears, but fantasy managers can still look to him as an upper-echelon QB target and start him with confidence due to his rushing upside.Source: ESPN
2 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor ran the ball 12 times for 103 yards on the ground in the team's loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Taylor also caught two of his four targets for another 32 yards in the air. Taylor was the bright spot for Indy in the team's loss, logging another incredibly efficient outing on the ground and through the air. He also again saw an extremely favorable opportunity share, receiving 12 out of the 14 running back carries for Indianapolis. While the Colts may be a bit of a mixed bag offensively between QB Anthony Richardson's passing limitations and rushing upside, Taylor proves once again that he is the workhorse back for them and will continue to produce. He faces a tougher matchup in Week 3 when the Colts host the Chicago Bears, but fantasy managers can still start him confidently based on his volume alone.Source: ESPN
2 months agoIndianapolis Colts defensive linemen DeForest Buckner (right ankle) and Laiatu Latu (hip) exited during the second half of Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. Both players were officially ruled out by the team. Buckner finished Week 2 with one tackle. Latu had one tackle, as well as a fumble recovery. Raekwon Davis, Dayo Odeyingbo, and Isaiah Land are candidates to earn more snaps with Buckner and Latu sidelined. UPDATE: X-rays came back negative on Buckner's ankle after the game. He's dealing with an ankle sprain, but an MRI exam on Monday will determine the severity.Source: James Boyd

2 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs (ankle) "is considered 50-50" to play on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The second-year pass-catcher had logged a full practice on Friday, but the Colts will still be cautious with him and allow him to test his injury pregame before making an official decision on his availability. A Downs absence would lead to more opportunities for Alec Pierce and Adonai Mitchell, but Michael Pittman Jr. is still the only Colts receiver we can trust in fantasy football. He's a low-end WR2 this week.Source: Ian Rapoport
2 months agoIndianapolis Colts rookie wide receiver Adonai Mitchell grabbed just one target for two yards in his career debut in Week 1, but the box score didn't tell the full story. Mitchell saw five targets with 82 air yards, just missing on a few deep passes from QB Anthony Richardson. The rookie saw elite separation on many of his routes, quickly becoming a preferred target in the offense. That being said, Mitchell does not come into Week 2's matchup against the Green Bay Packers with a safe floor, as shown in his Week 1 performance. Fantasy managers in need of an upside play can look to Mitchell in a WR3/Flex spot and hope that he is on the receiving end of a few deep balls from Richardson.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. didn't pop on the stat sheet in Week 1, grabbing four catches for 31 yards in the team's loss to the Houston Texans. The good news was that Pittman was the most targeted pass-catcher, totaling eight targets in the contest. The Colts now gear up for a matchup with the Green Bay Packers, who allowed both WRs AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith to have productive showings in Week 1. Pittman's ceiling does remain limited as Indy doesn't implement a high-volume passing game, with the majority of QB Anthony Richardson's production coming on 60+ touchdown passes. While Pittman can be on the receiving end of one of those, he doesn't provide an incredibly safe floor. That being said, fantasy managers can look to target Pittman was a WR2/3 option and hope to see an increase in Indy's passing attack from last week.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor underwhelmed fantasy managers last week, totaling just 48 yards on 16 carries with no action in the receiving game. He was able to find the endzone, which helped boost his fantasy performance. Although inefficient, he received every running back carry, which should come as encouraging news to fantasy managers. He now gears up for a Week 2 matchup with the Green Bay Packers, a team that allowed RB Saquon Barkley to total three touchdowns in the two teams Week 1 matchup. On top of that, the Colts are favorites in Sunday's matchup with the likely absence of Jordan Love (knee), creating a favorable game script for Taylor. Fantasy managers in all formats can consider Taylor a strong RB1 option in Week 2.Source: RotoBaller
