4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Stone Smartt was targeted three times in a Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, making three catches for 54 yards. Smartt was forced into a larger role after starting tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) had to leave the game due to getting injured on the last play before halftime. Smartt has shown some upside in small bursts and could be a streaming option in 2TE leagues in Week 15 if Dissly is unable to return.Source: ESPN.com
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) was forced to leave the game in Week 14 after getting hurt on the last play before halftime. Dissly caught two passes on two targets, totaling 19 yards before being forced to leave. Tight end Stone Smartt came in to take Dissly's place after halftime and picked up 54 yards on three catches. Dissly will be questionable at best for Week 15 against Tampa Bay, but as long as he's healthy enough to suit up, he should remain a high-floor mid-ceiling fantasy tight end option.Source: ESPN.com
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston scored a touchdown, his seventh of the season, in a Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Johnston was expected to have a bigger role with Ladd McConkey (knee/shoulder) inactive, but that leading role went to Joshua Palmer instead. Still, Johnston saw seven targets thrown his way, making five catches for 48 yards including a four-yard touchdown catch near the end of the third quarter. "QJ" went on a touchdown scoring streak earlier in the season but hadn't found the end zone since Week 11. It was a solid performance from the sophomore pass catcher, who will face Tampa Bay next week.Source: ESPN.com
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer led the Chargers in most receiving categories in a Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Palmer was targeted nine times, making six catches for 78 yards, all leading the team. Palmer took over as quarterback Justin Herbert's favorite target with Ladd McConkey (knee/shoulder) out and other Chargers pass catchers missing time throughout the game. A similar game plan could take place next week against Tampa Bay, where Palmer will be around the WR3/4 border if McConkey can't play.Source: ESPN.com
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers rookie running back Kimani Vidal nearly split the backfield with starter Gus Edwards in a Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Vidal ran the ball eight times, gaining 34 yards. He was targeted once in the passing game but did not make the catch. Vidal got two fewer carries compared to Edwards but was second on the team in carries and rushing yards and clearly working in a role that could continue to grow while J.K. Dobbins (knee) remains on IR.Source: ESPN.com
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards scored a touchdown in a Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Edwards led the Bolts backfield in carries and yards, and was the only runner to find the end zone. In total, Edwards ran 10 times, gaining 36 yards. His touchdown was a three-yard run in the middle of the third quarter that opened the scoring for the Chargers. Nine different Chargers players saw passes thrown their way, but Edwards did not get any action at all in the passing game. The Chargers will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week, where Edwards will once again likely need a touchdown to put up a significant fantasy score.Source: ESPN.com
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert threw a touchdown pass in a tough Week 14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Herbert and the Bolts offense did close to nothing in the first half but looked a lot stronger after halftime. Despite throwing to guys who would be depth pieces at best on most other teams, Herbert was still able to complete 21 of his 30 passes for 213 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. He was sacked three times, losing 19 yards, but added 12 yards on four carries. Herbert's touchdown was on a four-yard pass to Quentin Johnston near the end of the third quarter. The Chargers signal caller was forced to leave the game temporarily after taking a big hit, but he was back in and none the worse for wear soon after.Source: ESPN.com

4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury in the Sunday night divisional showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs and is questionable to return for the second half. Dissly hurt himself on the final play of the first half on a 15-yard reception. The 28-year-old caught both of his targets in a slow offensive first half for the Bolts for 19 receiving yards. The Chargers are also without rookie receiver Ladd McConkey (knee, shoulder) for this one, so quarterback Justin Herbert is running thin on aerial weapons if Dissly doesn't return to this contest. If Dissly is unable to return to action on Sunday night in KC, Stone Smartt will likely benefit the most at the position, with Tucker Fisk also potentially getting on the field more often. To begin the fourth quarter, Smart has also caught both of his targets for 45 yards.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey (shoulder, knee) won't play in Sunday night's meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs. The wideout was labeled as a "true game-time decision." Unfortunately, the latest update just confirms what most fantasy managers had already anticipated. Without McConkey, who has had a quality rookie season, Quentin Johnston and Joshua Palmer are in line for more attention from Justin Herbert. Will Dissly should also get more involved.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey (shoulder, knee) is considered a true game-time decision to play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. This development puts fantasy managers in a bind: McConkey is an effective WR2 option if he plays, but as the Sunday Night Football game, managers are out of runway if he's ruled out. Tight end Will Dissly has quickly vaulted to second on the team in targets, while receivers Joshua Palmer and Quentin Johnson are low-volume options who could see a boost if McConkey doesn't play.Source: NFL Network

4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker will look for another strong performance on Sunday Night Football in Week 14 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Dicker has been solid and consistent in his sophomore season, much as he was his rookie year. He's finished as a top-15 fantasy kicker in nine of his 12 games, and a top-eight option six times. There's no reason to think he won't repeat a similar performance in what should be a close divisional clash.Source: RotoBaller
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Will Dissly is set up for a strong comeback game in a Week 14 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. Dissly put up a whole entire zero points last week, but he'd been a solid and consistent tight end option for several weeks in a row before that. The best bet is likely to chalk up the zero as a fluke and trust Dissly for another solid week of production, especially against a Chiefs defense that has allowed the most receiving yards and the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Dissly is right on the TE1/2 border, with a high floor (despite last week's zero) and a decently high ceiling. Both floor and ceiling go up significantly if Ladd McConkey (knee/shoulder) is unable to play.Source: RotoBaller
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer could have some fantasy value in a Week 14 Sunday Night Football matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Palmer hasn't done much this season, peaking with a WR22 finish in Week 9 and finishing as a top-36 option at his position only twice. But this week, with Ladd McConkey (knee/shoulder) questionable and possibly limited if he plays, Palmer could see a more important role in the passing game. The Chiefs defense is elite against running plays but has struggled against outside wide receivers, especially recently. If McConkey doesn't play, Palmer could be a deep league FLEX option.Source: RotoBaller
