3 days agoColorado Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson (lower body) will return to action on Monday against the Calgary Flames. The veteran blue-liner has been sidelined for three games due to a lower-body injury. Keaton Middleton has filled in for Johnson and will now exit the lineup. Johnson has picked up only a handful of points this season and should remain a free agent in fantasy leagues. Over 28 appearances with the Avalanche and Philadelphia Flyers, Johnson has recorded one goal and two assists with 48 blocks.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoMiami Marlins right-hander Eury Perez (elbow) will throw against live hitters on Tuesday, according to Fish On First's Kevin Barral. Perez had previously been limited to throwing bullpen sessions as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery in April of 2024. The 21-year-old is making a big step as he advances to throwing to live hitters, but he still has a ways to go before making his 2025 debut and isn't expected to return to Miami's starting rotation until around the All-Star break in mid-July. The Marlins will continue to take it slow in his recovery from elbow reconstruction. The Dominican hurler should have a full workload eventually down the stretch in 2025 when he returns, but fantasy managers still may want to temper their expectations despite the fact that Perez showed ace potential in 2023. His upside makes him worth stashing in deep-mixed and NL-only leagues, though.Source: Fish On First - Kevin Barral
3 days agoBrooklyn Nets forward Noah Clowney (ankle) won't play on Monday against the Mavericks. He got the start in Saturday's win over the Wizards, finishing with 13 points and five rebounds. However, the 20-year-old sprained his right ankle late in the contest and didn't return. With Cameron Johnson (back) sidelined for this one, Clowney had a chance to remain with the first five. But now it appears Jalen Wilson, averaging 11.2 points in 18 starts during the 2024-25 campaign, could fill the spot in the rotation. Trendon Watford should also see additional minutes.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoPhiladelphia Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen (upper body) will likely remain on the shelf for the rest of the season. "The plan is to not have him back this season," Flyers interim head coach Brad Shaw said. "I'm not 100 percent on what the timeline looks like, but I can't imagine he would be playing in the next couple weeks." Ristolainen will be out of action for a 10th consecutive game on Monday against the Nashville Predators. He has posted 19 points (4 goals, 15 assists), 100 shots, 94 blocks, and 97 hits in 63 games this season.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoIt was another solid outing for Ryan Preece on Sunday afternoon, as the Roush-Fenway Keselowski Racing driver seems to be fitting in quite well with his new team after he earned a career-first third straight top-10 finish. Despite starting back in 21st-place, Preece was able to work his way through the field on Sunday afternoon before settling in late and coming home with a seventh-place result. After the race, he stated, "We're getting on a roll. At first, this is a place I wanted to take advantage of for points because I felt like Martinsville is in my wheelhouse, so I'm happy we did. I hate talking about points, but every bit matters." Preece is now sits 14th in the points standings after seven races. The series heads to Darlington next, where Preece has been knocking on the door of a top-10 lately, with finishes between 12th- and 17th-place in four of the last five races.Source: Jayski
3 days agoThe Atlanta Braves announced on Monday that they selected the contract of right-handed reliever Jesse Chavez from Triple-A Gwinnett to the major-league roster and designated right-handed reliever Hector Neris for assignment in a corresponding move. The 41-year-old Chavez will give the Braves a new bullpen arm after Neris had a disastrous two relief outings in San Diego over the weekend by allowing five earned runs on five hits (one homer) while walking one and striking out one in just one inning of work. This will be Chavez's fourth different stint with the organization. In 46 appearances out of the Braves' bullpen last year, Chavez was solid with a 3.13 ERA (4.43 FIP) and 1.25 WHIP with 55 strikeouts and 19 walks in 63 1/3 innings pitched. In a likely middle-relief role, Chavez will have very little fantasy appeal.Source: Atlanta Braves
3 days agoBrooklyn Nets forward Cameron Johnson (back) won't play on Monday night against Dallas. He had an excellent game in the recent win over the Washington Wizards, finishing with 18 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Unfortunately, he took a hard fall late in the contest and was ruled out. With Brooklyn already eliminated from Play-In contention, it's anyone's guess if Johnson has a few more games in him before the end of the regular season. But with Noah Clowney (ankle) also ruled out, Jalen Wilson may slide into the starting lineup, with the 24-year-old averaging 11.2 points in 18 starts this season. Trendon Watford should also see extra work after amassing seven points and two blocks versus the Wizards.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoNashville Predators forward Colton Sissons (lower body) has been listed as week-to-week and is not expected to return to action this season. Nashville has been eliminated from playoff contention, so the team has no incentive to rush Sissons back after he suffered a lower-body injury on Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights. Sissons has recorded seven goals and 21 points in 72 appearances while delivering 100 hits. With Sissons and Jonathan Marchessault (lower body) unavailable for Monday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, the Predators plan to use seven defensemen. Jordan Oesterle will enter the lineup alongside Jakub Vrana.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoAtlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy (rib) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, per The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Justin Toscano. A rib injury suffered in spring training landed Murphy on the IL to begin the 2025 regular season, but barring a setback once he returns to game action this week on the farm, there's a chance that he could come off the IL when eligible this Friday, April 4. When Murphy does make it back to Atlanta, he could be eased into the starting catching duties, but when healthy, he's the team's unquestioned No. 1 backstop. Catching prospect Drake Baldwin has been serving as the Braves' primary catcher to open the year, with Chadwick Tromp backing him up. In his first three MLB games, Baldwin is just 1-for-11 at the plate with a walk and three strikeouts.Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - Justin Toscano
3 days agoAfter a rough stretch of races to start out the month of March, Bubba Wallace has his season back on track, as the 23XI Racing driver finished third for the second weekend in a row after a very strong effort at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Bubba was in contention all day long, as the No. 23 Toyota ranked third-fastest in Green Flag Speed and third-best in Average Running Position during the event. After the race, Wallace remarked, "What a great day. Continuing to rebound from the start of our season. Super proud of our group here at the No. 23 team. McDonald's Toyota Camry was fast all weekend. That final restart, I let that second get away. I don't know if I had anything for [Denny Hamlin]. It would have been fun to try. But all in all, hell of a day for Toyota. Top three. That's nice. Keep the momentum going, having fun."Source: Motorsports Wire
3 days agoNashville Predators right wing Jonathan Marchessault (lower body) is considered day-to-day and will likely sit out Monday's matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers. Marchessault has had a difficult year in Nashville, posting only 49 points (19 goals, 30 assists) in 73 games, and to make matters worse, he has now sustained a lower-body injury, which will knock him out of the lineup for the first time this season. Jakub Vrana is expected to replace Marchessault in the top six on Monday. With over 100 career goals to his name, Vrana has established himself as a proven scorer in the NHL; however, he lacks the consistency needed to be a reliable fantasy asset. In 31 outings this season, Vrana has scored eight goals and recorded 12 points with 38 shots on goal.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoHouston Astros outfielder Jose Altuve has returned to second base and will bat leadoff for the Astros for the series opener on Monday against the visiting San Francisco Giants and right-hander Jordan Hicks at Daikin Park. It will be the first time that Altuve is back at the keystone after starting the first three games last week against the New York Mets in left field. The 34-year-old veteran is expected to see most of his playing time in left in 2025, but he'll still occasionally pick up some starts at second base. With Altuve at second, Mauricio Dubon is in left field and is batting eighth. Altuve is off to an excellent start this year after his position switch, going 5-for-11 with a run scored, a walk and four strikeouts in three games against the New York Mets last week. He should remain in all starting fantasy lineups. Altuve is hitless with an RBI in just three career at-bats versus Hicks.Source: MLB.com
3 days agoTodd Gilliland grabbed his second top-10 finish of the season on Sunday afternoon, coming home 10th at Martinsville Speedway after a mistake-free day in the 400-lap race. This is Gilliland's second top-10 result of the season (and third top 15) through the first seven races of the year, with the other being a 10th-place finish at COTA. His race at Martinsville ends a skid for the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports team, as they had a rough couple of weeks at Las Vegas and Homestead, finishing 29th and 30th (respectively) in those two races. He currently sits in 22nd-place in the points standings as the Cup Series heads to Darlington next weekend. Gilliland could be in line for another good run there, as he has finished between 11th and 17th in four of his six career starts at "The Lady in Black."Source: Front Row Motorsports

3 days agoPhoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant (ankle) is expected to miss at least one week after suffering a sprained left ankle in Sunday's blowout loss to the Houston Rockets. The latest update means Durant won't suit up during the Suns' upcoming three-game road trip, beginning on Tuesday in Milwaukee. Phoenix is currently on the outside looking in for a Play-In spot. But if the Suns get eliminated before Durant is cleared to return, there's a chance he won't be back on the floor this season. With rumors regarding KD's departure this offseason, he may have already played his final game with the organization. With that said, Royce O'Neale should slide into the starting lineup, with Devin Booker expected to see a surge in production while Durant is on the shelf.Source: Shams Charania
3 days agoNew York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor is out of the starting lineup on Monday on the road in Miami against the division-rival Marlins for the birth of his son, Koa, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. With Lindor out on Monday for the start of a series in Miami, Luisangel Acuna will start at the 6 and will bat eighth against Marlins right-hander Cal Quantrill. It remains to be seen if Lindor will be back in the Mets' lineup for Tuesday's contest, so fantasy managers will need to check back then. The four-time All-Star is still searching for his first hit of 2025 after going hitless in 13 trips to the plate with an RBI and three strikeouts in the three-game series against the Houston Astros last week. Acuna, meanwhile, is also hitless in the first three games of the year, going 0-for-4 with a steal, a walk and two strikeouts. He has never faced Quantrill in his career.Source: MLB.com - Anthony DiComo
3 days agoFormer two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno scored a unanimous decision victory over former title challenger Steve Erceg at UFC Mexico City to improve to 23-8-2 as a pro. The fight remained mostly on the feet, but Moreno landed the more powerful punches, especially hard hooks that hurt Erceg. In 25 minutes of action, Moreno landed a takedown and 89 significant strikes. For Moreno, the victory was his first on home soil since signing with the UFC. This was Moreno's 10th consecutive five-round fight. With the win, Moreno is now 11-5-2 in the UFC.Source: UFC
3 days agoOn Saturday, former title challenger Steve Erceg dropped a unanimous decision to former two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno in the main event of UFC Mexico City. Although Saturday's fight was closely competitive, Moreno won all but the third round on all three cards. Although he had a good performance, Erceg was one step behind Moreno. Erceg is now on a three-fight losing streak, which raises questions about his future in the UFC. In 25 minutes of action, Erceg landed 116 significant strikes. With the loss, Erceg is now 12-4 as a pro and 3-3 in the UFC.Source: UFC
3 days agoDrew Dober suffered a first-round knockout loss to Manuel Torres in the co-main event of UFC Mexico City on Saturday. Less than two minutes into the fight, Torres hurt Dober down with a huge right hand, forcing Dober to shoot for a single-leg takedown. While he was clinging to the leg, Dober got knocked out by absorbing a barrage of unanswered hammerfists to the side of the head. In 1:45 of action, Dober landed only three significant strikes. With the loss, Dober fell to 27-15 with one NC as a pro and 13-11 with one NC in the UFC as he's 1-4 in his last five.Source: UFC
3 days agoManuel Torres scored a first-round knockout win over Drew Dober in the co-main event of UFC Mexico City. The 30-year-old Torres was looking to bounce back from suffering his UFC loss at the hands of Ignacio Bahamondes. Torres hurt Dober badly in the first round, and as Dober shot for a single-leg takedown, Torres landed a barrage of punches, knocking out Dober in the process. In 1:45 of action, Torres landed 23 significant strikes, compared to Dober, who landed only three. With the win, Torres is now 16-3 as a pro and 4-1 in the UFC.Source: UFC
3 days agoHarry Hall enjoyed a solid weekend in Texas at the Texas Children's Houston Open. The English golfer finished inside the Top 20 after three pretty rough tournament results. Even at the Valspar Championship, Hall struggled to finish outside the Top 50 (T-54). However, in Houston, Hall showed flashes of good form much like what we saw in Hawaii. Birdies were dropping in and that final round 65 was one of the better rounds of the day. If not for a late bogey on 7 coming in, Hall would have had a 64. Right now, the golfer stands at +6000 to win the Valero Texas Open. These seem like long odds but Min Woo Lee netted his first win last week. Anything can happen. Source: PGATour.com
3 days agoChris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette reports that the Denver Broncos intend to take a running back in the 2025 NFL Draft. "We'll get a back in this draft," said Broncos general manager George Paton. Paton also noted that it's a strong draft for running backs. Quarterback Bo Nix elevated Denver's offense across the board last season. However, the running back position left us wanting. Denver intends to rectify that this season by selecting a rusher from a class rich with running backs. The Broncos are picking at No. 20 overall, and they may go for their guy there. Some recent mocks have had the team taking North Carolina RB Omarion Hampton. Whether it's Hampton or one of the other viable athletes, they'll undoubtedly be a trendy pick in fantasy drafts this summer.Source: Chris Tomasson
3 days agoCJ Vergara suffered a first-round submission loss to Edgar Chairez on the main card of UFC Mexico City on Saturday. In the first round, Vergara got dropped multiple times by Chairez before falling victim to Chairez's rear-naked choke. Submission loss to Chairez marked Vergara's third defeat in a row. In 2:30 of action, Vergara landed six significant strikes. With the loss, Vergara is now 12-7-1 as a pro and 3-5 in the UFC.Source: UFC
3 days agoRyan Fox started out 2025 with two missed cuts and a T-63 at the WM Phoenix Open. Since then, the golfer from New Zealand has righted the ship enough and was flirting with a Top 10 last week in Houston. Though he faltered a bit to a 71 on Sunday, that still wound up being a Top 15 result. Fox has not won yet on the PGA Tour and currently still ranks outside the Top 100 in OWGR (102nd). He does have eight international wins including the 2023 BMW PGA Championship. The golfer is 38 but still has plenty of fight left. At the least, Fox could be a decent DFS option come this weekend. 3 days agoEdgar Chairez scored a first-round submission win over CJ Vergara on the main card of UFC Mexico City. From the opening bell, Chairez was one step ahead of Vergara, knocking Vergara down multiple times before securing a rear-naked choke submission. In 2:30 of action, Chairez landed eight significant strikes. Defeating Vergara marked a return to the win column for Chairez following a unanimous decision loss to Joshua Van at UFC 306. With the win, Chairez is now 12-6 with one NC as a pro and 2-2 with one NC in the UFC.Source: UFC
3 days agoDenver Broncos head coach Sean Payton notes that there is "no timeline" on a new deal for veteran wide receiver Courtland Sutton. The 29-year-old will still be at the team's offseason program. Broncos general manager George Paton reported that any contract extension talks would occur after the draft. Sutton is entering the final year of a four-year contract and carries a cap hit of $20.2 million. He performed well last year with the expedited ascension of rookie QB Bo Nix, capping 1,000 yards (1,081) for the first time since 2019 and notching the highest reception total of his career (81). Whether the SMU alum will be as effective another year older in 2025 remains to be seen -- particularly for a player who doesn't get much separation. Still, Denver hasn't added much in terms of offensive weaponry besides tight end Evan Engram in free agency. Sutton should again be Nix's primary target, barring a big move in the draft.Source: Nick Kosmider
3 days agoKansas City Royals outfielder Dairon Blanco (Achilles) was placed on the 10-day injured list due to right Achilles tendinopathy on Monday. The 31-year-old did not receive a start during their opening series against the Cleveland Guardians. Last season, Blanco appeared in just 88 contests but did provide value in category formats. During this stretch, the 31-year-old swiped an impressive 31 bags, which was the eighth-most in the AL. In the batter's box, he posted a .258/.308/.392 slash line with just four doubles and four long balls. Through the first three games of the 2025 season, Blanco already swiped two bags. In a corresponding move, the Royals promoted Tyler Tolbert from Triple-A Omaha. He is worth monitoring in deeper category formats given his elite speed upside.Source: Kansas City Royals
3 days agoVince Morales suffered a unanimous decision loss to Raul Rosas Jr. on the main card of UFC Mexico City on Saturday. Morales did have his moments, but for the most part, he got outwrestled and outgrappled by Rosas Jr. In the third round, Morales tried to finish the fight, threatening Rosas Jr. with submissions, but Rosas Jr. eventually fought his way free. In 15 minutes of action, Morales landed a takedown and 17 significant strikes. Morales has now dropped three straight unanimous decisions during his second UFC stint. He is now 5-1 in the UFC.Source: UFC
3 days agoOn Saturday, Raul Rosas Jr. extended his win streak to four after beating Vince Morales via unanimous decision on the main card of UFC Mexico City. Rosas Jr. outwrestled, outgrappled and outworked Morales throughout three rounds to claim a unanimous decision with three 29-28 scorecards. In the third round, the 20-year-old Rosas Jr. nearly got submitted after Morales threatened Rosas Jr. with a D'Arce choke, but Rosas Jr. managed to survive. In 15 minutes of action, Rosas Jr. landed four takedowns and 20 significant strikes. Source: UFC
3 days agoPer SNY's Connor Hughes, the New York Jets will hold off on extension talks with wide receiver Garrett Wilson and defensive back Sauce Gardner until after the 2025 NFL Draft. Both players are entering the fourth and final year of their contracts, though the team can exercise a fifth-year option on each. Wilson has been excellent, piling up over 1,000 yards in his first three seasons and eclipsing the 100-catch mark (101) in 2024. Gardner has been stellar, too. Despite a down year that ended on IR with a hamstring injury, he's been a pillar on the Jets' back end since he hit the field. It makes sense that, eventually, New York will get a deal done with both athletes. The trick will be not breaking the bank in doing so. Both players will make an impact on the field again in 2025.Source: Connor Hughes
