3 days agoWashington Wizards forward/center Alexandre Sarr (ankle) is questionable for Saturday's meeting with the Hornets. The rookie struggled on the offensive end to begin the year, but he's turned up the volume lately, averaging 15.5 points in February. Unfortunately, Sarr has missed the last three games with a sprained ankle. If he doesn't suit up, Richaun Holmes, who had 20 points in Wednesday's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, should find a spot in most fantasy lineups. However, if Sarr is available, he's a must-start, especially with Jordan Poole (elbow) and Malcolm Brogdon (ankle) on the shelf.Source: NBA Injury Report

3 days agoSeattle Mariners first baseman/outfielder Luke Raley (undisclosed) is back in the starting nine for Saturday afternoon's contest against the Chicago White Sox. Raley was dealing with an undisclosed injury throughout the week but has been cleared ahead of Saturday's game. He will start at first base and bat in the cleanup spot. Last season, Raley was on the strong side of a platoon as he made only two starts against southpaws. In 137 contests, the 30-year-old held a .243/.320/.463 slash line with 22 home runs and 11 stolen bases. He generated a modest .316 xwOBA with a low .220 xBA, suggesting he may face some regression during the 2025 campaign. Fantasy managers should expect Raley to have a similar role at first base in 2025, making him an intriguing late-round option in deeper formats.Source: Seattle Mariners
3 days agoWashington Wizards guard Jordan Poole (elbow) won't play on Saturday against the Hornets. Two of the worst clubs in the National Basketball Association will go at it on Saturday night. However, the Wizards will need to find a way to win without Poole, who is sidelined with a hyperextended right elbow. With Malcolm Brogdon (ankle) also ruled out, Alexandre Sarr (ankle), Bilal Coulibaly, Khris Middleton, Corey Kispert, and Bub Carrington should all benefit on the offensive end. Yet, Sarr may miss another contest, meaning Coulibaly, Middleton, Kispert, and Carrington should see even more scoring opportunities. The same can be said for Marcus Smart, who had 10 points, three assists, and one steal in the loss to Portland on Wednesday.Source: NBA Injury Report
3 days agoBoston Red Sox catcher Connor Wong (shoulder) is set to make his Grapefruit League debut on Saturday afternoon against the Minnesota Twins. Wong has been dealing with a sore shoulder throughout the early part of camp. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status in case he faces a setback. Over the past two seasons, Wong logged 126 games in each campaign for the Red Sox. Last summer, he held a .280/.333/.425 slash line with 24 doubles, 13 home runs, and eight stolen bases. While he saw 106 of his starts behind the dish, he was occasionally deployed in the infield and also saw one start in left field. With prospect Kyle Teel now in Chicago, fantasy managers should expect Teel to see the vast majority of starts behind the plate during the 2025 campaign. Carlos Narvaez and Blake Sabol will compete for the No. 2 role.Source: Christopher Smith

3 days agoCharlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball (ankle) is questionable for Saturday's game against the Wizards. He has posted a career-high 26.3 points with 7.1 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals during the 2024-25 campaign. Unfortunately, the 23-year-old is once again battling an ankle issue, which has been a common theme for him since entering the league in 2020. With the Hornets not expected to earn a spot in the Play-In round, the team has no incentive to rush him back, meaning KJ Simpson may find himself spending more time at the one. The 2024 No. 42 overall pick has played well in his four starts throughout the season, averaging 13.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 1.5 steals, so fantasy managers can keep him stashed in case Ball misses more games moving ahead.Source: NBA Injury Report

3 days agoTexas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter (illness) is back in the starting nine on Saturday afternoon. Carter was unable to play on Friday due to an illness. However, seeing him return to the lineup quickly suggests his absence on Friday was precautionary. Carter flashed high upside as a rookie during the 2023 campaign, posting a .309/.413/.645 slash line with five home runs and three stolen bases. During their World Series run, Carter held a .300/.417/.500 line. However, Carter was limited to just 45 games last season and was eventually shut down due to a back injury. During his limited playing time, he was ineffective as he posted a mere .188 AVG. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status during camp as he should return to an everyday role in the Texas starting nine to begin the 2025 campaign.Source: Texas Rangers
3 days agoThe Athletic's Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed say that the Las Vegas Raiders prioritized trading for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford because they aren't very high on Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QB Sam Darnold or the other potential free agents such as the Pittsburgh Steelers' Russell Wilson or Justin Fields. However, according to league sources, there are members of the coaching staff who prefer adding a veteran signal-caller to taking a dice roll on a rookie QB. It makes sense because of the fact that this year's QB draft class isn't perceived to be very deep, and the only options worth drafting in the first round could be gone by the time the Raiders make their pick at No. 6 overall. The Raiders want to win now, but Darnold, who is coming off a career year with Minnesota, might be too expensive for their taste after he collapsed in the final two games in 2024.Source: The Athletic - Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed
3 days agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Tyler O'Neill (illness) is battling an illness and is expected to be sidelined for the next few days. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status but he should be expected to return to the starting lineup sometime next week. Earlier in the offseason, the Orioles signed the 29-year-old to a three-year $49.5 million contract. After battling injuries for several seasons, O'Neill was able to log over 100 games in 2024 for just the second time in his career. Across 113 contests in Boston last summer, O'Neill held a .241/.336/.511 slash line with 18 doubles and 31 home runs. He swiped four bags. He generated a strong .339 xwOBA with an elite 11.2 percent walk rate. However, he struck out at a hefty 33.6 percent rate. Fantasy managers should expect O'Neill to have an everyday role in the starting nine and is a viable target when looking for an outfielder with high-end power.Source: Matt Weyrich
3 days agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (back) will make his spring debut on Saturday afternoon against the Texas Rangers. Yelich underwent a microdiscectomy procedure in August to address a herniated disc in his lower back. The 33-year-old was shut down after this operation in August. However, seeing him return early in spring training suggests he should have a great opportunity to be a full-go in time for Opening Day. Before the injury last season, Yelich was on pace to enjoy a strong campaign as he held a .315/.406/.504 slash line with 12 doubles, 11 home runs, and 21 stolen bases. He generated an elite .373 xwOBA with a strong 12.7 percent walk rate. When healthy, fantasy managers should expect Yelich to have an everyday role in left field and bat near the top of the Milwaukee lineup.Source: Adam McCalvy
3 days agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows (arm) has been diagnosed with an upper arm nerve issue. The 25-year-old has been shut down from baseball activities for the time being. Manager A.J. Hinch noted that it is "too early" to make an assessment for Opening Day. Meadows sustained this injury last weekend and underwent further testing. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status. However, if this injury continues to linger, he may be in danger of missing the start of the regular season. For the time being, Wenceel Perez should have an increased role during camp and could open the campaign as the starting center fielder with Matt Vierling (shoulder) sidelined as well. After a slow start to the 2024 campaign, Meadows turned the corner in the second half as he held a strong .296/.340/.500 line with six home runs. When cleared to return, he is a viable depth outfielder in all formats as he possesses a solid combination of power and speed.Source: Evan Woodbery
3 days agoDetroit Tigers infielder Zach McKinstry is expected to make the Opening Day roster. With Matt Vierling (shoulder) expected to open the season on the injured list, McKinstry has a viable path to opening the season in the major leagues. Earlier in the offseason, McKinstry inked a one-year deal worth $1.65 million to avoid arbitration. The 29-year-old appeared in 118 contests for Detroit last season. Across this stint, McKinstry posted a .215/.277/.337 slash line with four home runs and 16 stolen bases. He showed a solid eye at the plate as he only struck out at a 21.2 percent of the time. However, he also generated a modest .238 xBA with a .364 xSLG. Fantasy managers should expect McKinstry to operate in a utility role during the 2025 campaign once again and will carry value in deeper AL-only formats.Source: Evan Woodbery

3 days agoBaltimore Orioles right-handed pitcher Bryan Baker could be a "surprise" player to make the Opening Day roster, according to Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun. The 30-year-old would have to go through waivers to be sent to the minor leagues, which may encourage Baltimore to keep him on the major league roster. Last season, the 30-year-old held a 5.01 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP. He tallied 23 punchouts across 23 1/3 innings. Baker showed strong command of his pitches as he served up walks at a 7.5 percent rate. He also generated a strong 3.59 xERA with a .229 xBA which suggests he could see some positive regression when he returns to the bump in 2025. In 2023, Baker held a 3.60 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP across 45 innings of relief. If he does make the Opening Day roster, he will likely be deployed as a middle relief option.Source: Jacob Calvin Meyer

3 days agoAthletics right-handed pitcher Dylan Floro has not been cleared to face live hitters yet. The 34-year-old is expected to continue to throw bullpen and increase his workload throughout camp. Floro is behind schedule as he only joined the team on a minor-league contract last week. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression as he may be cleared to face live hitters in the coming weeks. Last season, the 34-year-old posted a 3.80 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP across 68 2/3 innings with the Washington Nationals and Arizona Diamondbacks. He tallied 48 punchouts but was able to limit hard contact as he generated a stellar 4.6 percent barrel rate. Floro could compete for a high leverage role in the Athletics bullpen when healthy.Source: Martin Gallegos
3 days agoSan Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (back) was scratched from Friday's lineup with back tightness. The team said the move was precautionary. Fantasy managers should monitor his status in case he faces an extended absence. Eguy Rosario took his place in the lineup and covered the hot corner. Last season, Machado hit at least 28 home runs for the fourth-straight campaign. He posted a .275/.325/.472 slash line with 30 doubles, 29 home runs, and 11 stolen bases. He generated a strong .272 xBA with a .461 xSLG. The 32-year-old also posted an elite 48.8 percent hard-hit rate and placed in the 93rd percentile in bat speed. Tyler Wade should also see opportunities at the hot corner while Machado remains sidelined. Fantasy managers should view Machado as a high-end third baseman in all formats if he can move past this injury.Source: Kevin Acee
3 days agoColorado Avalanche goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood earned his second-straight victory on Friday evening over the Minnesota Wild. Blackwood stopped 18 of the 20 shots he saw in this contest. The Avalanche dominated the shot total but Blackwood performed well when called on. He allowed both of his goals in the opening frame, one of which was on the power-play to Vinnie Hinostroza. Over the final two frames, he stopped 10 shots he saw. Over his last two outings, the 28-year-old has held a .930 save percentage with a 1.50 GAA. Throughout February, Blackwood has held a strong 6-2 record with a .929 save percentage and a 1.77 GAA. During this stretch, he has posted two shutouts. He will look to stay hot on Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoColorado Avalanche left wing Ross Colton tallied three points during their victory over the Minnesota Wild on Friday evening. In the second frame, Colton tallied his first point, with the secondary assist on Jack Drury's goal. Later in this period, Colton would find the back of the net for the first time. In the third, Colton would tally his second goal of the game on the power-play. This outing extended his point streak to two games. However, prior to this two-game stretch, the 28-year-old was riding a 14-game scoreless drought. During this stretch, Colton tallied just 22 shots on goal with a -6 rating. He added 38 hits and nine blocked shots over this span. Through 44 games, Colton has found the back of the net 15 times and 104 hits. He remains an option for deeper formats given that he does not see consistent playing time in the Colorado bottom six.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoDallas Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger stopped 29 of the 31 shots he faced en route to defeating the Los Angeles Kings on Friday evening. The shot totals were even throughout the game and Oettinger was able to lead the way. He allowed one goal in the opening frame to Warren Foegele and his second goal to Trevor Moore in the second frame. He would then stop all 10 shots he faced in the final frame. This was a nice bounce-back for the 26-year-old as he allowed five goals in his last start. Prior to this poor showing, Oettinger carried a 3-1-1 record with a .906 save percentage and a 2.97 GAA. Overall, Oettinger has posted a 28-13-2 record with a 2.42 GAA and a .910 save percentage. He has tallied one shutout. He will look to extend his winning streak on Sunday against the St. Louis Blues.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoDallas Stars center Roope Hintz tallied four helpers during their victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Friday evening. This was a career-high total. In the opening frame, he tallied two helpers, one on Jason Robertson's strike (secondary assist) and the other on Matt Duchene's power-play goal (primary assist). In the second, Hintz tallied his second power-play helper, this time on the primary assist to set up Wyatt Johnson on his 18th goal of the campaign. Later in the third, Hintz would cap off his impressive evening with another primary assist on Logan Stankoven's second goal of the evening. This outing extended his current point streak to four games. Over his last five, Hintz has found the back of the net once and added seven helpers. He will look to stay hot on Sunday evening against the St. Louis Blues.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoToronto Maple Leafs left wing Matthew Knies scored the game-winner to lift Toronto to victory over the New York Rangers on Friday evening. Even though the Rangers dominated the shot total, Knies was able to break the stalemate in the third period when he beat New York netminder Igor Shesterkin on a wrist shot. Knies also logged one hit and blocked shot in this contest. This outing snapped Knies's four-game goal drought. During this minor slump, Knies tallied just one helper and averaged one shot on goal per game. However, before this skid, the 22-year-old tallied nine points (five goals, four helpers) with two shots on goal per game with 2.3 hits per game. Fantasy managers should continue to view Knies as a solid option in DFS as he plays alongside Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews on the top forward line.Source: NHL.com
3 days agoMinnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin (undisclosed) exited Friday's contest against the Colorado Avalanche early. After the contest, head coach John Hynes did not provide an update on his status. Before exiting, Brodin logged just over 15 minutes of ice time. He logged four blocked shots, one shot on goal, with two penalty minutes. Fantasy managers should monitor his status leading up to their next contest on Sunday afternoon against the Boston Bruins. Over his previous seven games, Brodin has tallied two points (both helpers) with six shots on goal, 14 blocked shots, two hits, and six penalty minutes. While sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Jake Middleton to have an increase in ice time. Over his last six, Middleton has logged 13 blocks with one helper.Source: Joe Smith
4 days agoLos Angeles Lakers forward Rui Hachimura (knee) will miss Friday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers and currently has no timetable for his return. Hachimura was injured during Thursday's matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves and was diagnosed with a left knee strain. According to Lakers head coach JJ Redick, Hachimura underwent imaging on his knee on Friday. He added that the team is "optimistic" about Hachimura's injury. Dorian Finney-Smith will take Hachimura's place in the starting lineup against the Clippers.Source: Khobi Price
4 days agoLos Angeles Lakers center Jaxson Hayes (hip) will be active on Friday against the Los Angeles Clippers. He has received a couple of upgrades throughout the day and has now officially been listed as available. On Thursday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Hayes put together one of his most productive performances of the season, finishing a 111-102 win with 10 points, seven rebounds, one block, and one steal. He will likely have a tougher evening on Friday against the Clippers, who have Ivica Zubac as a big presence under the rim.Source: Khobi Price
4 days agoLos Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (foot) has been upgraded to available ahead of tip-off against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night. As usual, James was on the initial injury report with a probable tag. This will be his third outing in four nights, but James has been excellent in his first couple of games this week. On Thursday, he led the Lakers to a 111-102 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves with 33 points, 17 rebounds, and six assists.Source: Khobi Price
4 days agoLos Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic (calf) will play in Friday's Battle of Los Angeles against the Clippers. Doncic bagged 21 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists in 36 minutes on Thursday against the Minnesota Timberwolves and is good to go again on Friday night, which is great news for fantasy managers. The Lakers listed Doncic as questionable on the initial injury report. Doncic's workload has increased since the All-Star break, and he has averaged 21.5 points, 12.3 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 2.0 steals over his past four games.Source: Khobi Price
4 days agoLos Angeles Clippers guard/forward Norman Powell (knee) has been downgraded to out ahead of Friday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He was initially listed as questionable on the injury report. Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue told reporters ahead of Friday's game that Powell played through a knee injury prior to the All-Star break. He hasn't featured in any games since the regular season continued. Powell's next opportunity to return will be in a rematch against the Lakers on Sunday. With him out on Friday, Amir Coffey, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Derrick Jones Jr. are in a position to see more action.Source: Tomer Azarly
