Padres Pitching Prospect Joey Lucchesi Throws 4 2/3 Innings in Debut
7 years agoSan Diego's lefty pitching prospect Joey Lucchesi exited his major league debut Friday night after allowing three runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings with one strikeout against the Milwaukee Brewers. Lucchesi had a rough first inning, allowing two runs on three hits, but he settled down to hold the Brewers scoreless over the next three innings while surrendering only two hits. While it could have gone better, it wasn't a terrible way for the 24-year-old to make his debut. Assuming no changes to the rotation, Lucchesi will be in line for the start at home against Colorado on April 5. If he performs better in the start against the Rockies, he could prove to be an interesting streaming option, but for now he should stay on the waiver wire.
